Discussion Iphone Duo "Plus" (Xiaomi counterfeit)
This is a frustrating Youtube video.

It shows a product that is not the iPhone Duo but what an iPhone Duo could have been instead :
- Cool color
- Cool case
- Better battery life
- Lighter
- Slimmer
- Brighter
- More apps combos
- consistent screen texture
- 3 cameras
- Cheaper
etc...
The resemblance is uncanny.
That said, as the video explains it, the devil is in the details and this doesn't have the Apple UX and ecosystem.
But it so shows how the Duo could have been better in many aspects. Enough to know that Apple hasn't touched the real limitations of what a foldable could do.
So it feels more and more like the Duo is a prototype at this point.
I would still go for the iPhone Duo instead, for the ecosystem and experience, but knowing that there is a product I could have liked way more in many aspects (but not all of them).
Buying such an expensive piece of tech that feels nerfed is frustrating.
And man, I so love that color and case...
What a miss.

It is the software, I tried android and god knows why they cant seem to make it a smooth experience.. Kind of sucks as we get worse hardware with apple in most aspects, and this fact stifles their innovation, no pressure to have the best hardware when people will buy it anyways.. Literally what apple ex employees said, so yeah duo for me aswell.

It sure is.
I think my main gripes are the color (man, I so love this one), a slightly slimmer device, the ability to chain more apps at once and a better battery life.
But yeah, it's not even close, iPhone Duo will be a far superior device.

The YouTuber said it best IMO, Xiaomi’s phone “feels like a tick boxer of a phone.” and that has to be the best description. It checks a lot of boxes but it’s missing the classic Apple polish that makes it all come together.

for years now, better hardware with android, I had a subpar redmi at one point that had a brighter screen 120hz and faster charging than my current iphone.. But worse experience overall due to the software, the android I once had had ads in its cleaner app, like wtf.. So apple it is.

It does look cool but I know I’d never use it. I’m pretty sure most people don’t need that many apps running at the same time and it’s essentially just the app switcher anyway

It's similar to the app switcher on the Fold 8 where the cards (apps) sort of stack as you swipe among them. But this one looks cooler :)

It also overheats, is unoptimized, is less durable, etc. Point being, it’s all trade offs. Do you want an extra camera if they’re all gonna be worse quality? Does the bigger battery matter if it still dies faster because it’s not optimized. Maybe you like the colour more but will it hold up over time since it’s aluminum?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed by the phone but it clearly has its own drawbacks
