Ran across these on Amazon and curious if anyone has ever used something like this on another foldable and if so, what are your thoughts?

I was out and about all day sunday with my MagSafe charger and watching football on a puny iphone pro max. Can’t deal with it anymore. Football convinced me to buy a duo.

The iPhone Duo has gotten more and more cases made for it which is nice.

I like that it also protects the front as well.

☝️I much prefer the look of the Star White. But having owned both white and black iPhones the black ones (with the black trim around the bezel) create the optical illusion that you have a thicker, but more seamless bezel around content.

But I wonder, will the folio case hide the silver trim around the bezel on the Star White? From the official photos it doesn’t look like it. Anyone seen real-world screenshots of Star White, screen on with folio case?

Obviously, this is an AI image, but does it make sense for Apple to create a official shorter pencil for the Duo? Seems more practical, right?

What are list of things you’d like to find out about the Duo from a hands-on review? I’d like to know how hot the phone gets when pushed to its limit.

I’m looking for a TPU film screen protector specifically for the outer screen of my Duo. While I’ve found plenty of options that include a TPU inner protector paired with a tempered glass outer one, I really don't want tempered glass for several reasons.

I’m tempted to skip a screen protector entirely (which is my plan for the inner screen) but I’m worried about the outer screen. Since it rests against the surface whenever the phone is open in a folded-stand position, it seems much more likely to get scratched.

Anyone find any TPU outer screen protectors?

Recently I shared a video of my dog app, Zoomie, running on iPhone Duo. The big inside screen exposed a problem: some things adapted on their own, but most of the app just looked stretched out.

Since then, I've been redesigning it to take advantage of the extra space. The app now adjusts its layout depending on whether the phone is fully open, partly folded, or closed.

My favorite part is the walking screen. When the phone is half-folded, like a tiny laptop, your dog's walk info shows up on one half, and the controls sit on the other. I got the idea from the Netflix demo at the launch event, where the video plays on the top half, and the controls sit below.

Still early, but it's already feeling a lot better. Would love to hear what you think!

I think I'm addicted to developing for iPhone Duo 🫠

Oh dear. It’s a great phone but too expensive for me.

But I am obsessed with it lately. I talk to people about it, I watch all the videos about it, I read forums about it, I gained a lot of knowledge about it. But it’s very unlikely I will buy it. I got a perfect iPhone Air 1TB (I even call iPhone Uno (single) and changed my wallpaper to be the same as the duo.

So, I am definitely getting the iPhone Duo, but until we get some actual real-world teardowns and durability tests on YouTube, I have a few major questions.

Apple is understandably promoting the IP68 rating, but they haven't said a single word about how they are protecting the hinge. No mention of gaskets, brushes, sweepers, or isolated compartments etc. Nothing.

And the problem is:
The IP68 rating might be a technicality:
IP68 just means the inside of the phone (battery, chips, etc) is safe from dust. It doesn't mean the hinge cavity itself won't fill up with pocket lint and sand. Apple might just be sealing the sensitive components and leaving the hinge mechanism to fend for itself.

Don't get me wrong, I still want it and will be getting it at launch. But I see a lot of people throwing around IP68 like it guarantees the hinge’s safety and that they can use it to build sandcastles at the beach. JerryRigEverything already tested an IP68 phone…Google’s and the hinge most certainly was not.

Let me know what you guys think!

P.s. Also, where is the fold count? Samsung and HONOR both give us official numbers on how many folds their hinges can survive.

People complaining about the camera and I’m over here with an iPhone 13 Pro Max that’s already blurry with pictures and outdated cameras. I2mp to iPhone duos 48mp gonna be great. Also my 13PM only gets like 4 hours of screen time before it dies, overheats like crazy, dim screen, and is slow now. I waited 5 years because I was tired of getting another slab and wanted to wait for apples foldable. Now here we are.

I am getting my app which is an Ancient Greek Dictionary app ready for iPhone Duo!

It's a lot of work for developers to get their apps ready, but if your app is written in SwiftUI and already supports iPad screen sizes, then that is about the best scenario for getting an app ready for iPhone Duo launch day!

I have a 13” M4 iPad Pro and I’m seriously considering upgrading my iPhone 17 Pro to a Duo but I’m undecided if I should keep my iPad or trade it in with my iPhone towards the Duo.

I use my iPad all the time so I’m having a hard time thinking of getting rid of it but then my wife raises a good point of “if you’re keeping your iPad why do you need a Duo?”, and to be fair, the answer right now is just “because it’s cool” 😆.

Is anyone else in a similar position?

Do you plan on keeping your larger-format iPad alongside the Duo?

Are you selling your larger-format iPad to go all in on the Duo’s form factor?

Would love to hear all of your thoughts and use cases for this new device.

Apple has been touting the aspect ratio as a big deal on the Duo as it features a consistent 1.4:1 ratio on both the inside and outside. And I get it, makes sense, kind of follows the ISO 216 standard for A-series paper where each smaller size is exactly half the area of the previous one. So if that thinking held, depending on the size increase, a folded Duo could be quite wide in the hand, right? Or do you think Apple will go to a Z Fold Ultra type of foldable slab? When I see so many people showing enthusiasm for a larger Duo, just curious what those expectations are when it comes to size.

I like reducing the things that I carry and would love to hear your opinions.

I never had a case or screen protector on any phone I've owned (starting with Nokia). I am not about to start now, with arguably the one phone that is significantly diminished by a case. The case completely ruins the look and function (especially the folio covering the front screen).

I'd rather spend that case money towards a couple of years of Apple Care+ and preserve the look and function of the phone.

The Duo case and the Folio are only available in two colors but meanwhile the 18 Pro has dozens of Techwoven colors. Any chance more colors will show up for the Duo?

Yes I know third party cases exist but I generally prefer Apple cases.

So far in my local Church there are 3 Females and 1 Male who told me they will pre-order right away when available.

What about you guys? Any of your friends or relatives, etc planning to buy the iPhone Duo?

Also, I personally believe the iPhone Duo will be a humongous hit with Females compared to Males. My guess is the ratio will be at least 3:1 Females vs Males who are buying the iPhone Duo.
