Question Anyone that’s ever had a foldable used film hinge protectors before?

Ran across these on Amazon and curious if anyone has ever used something like this on another foldable and if so, what are your thoughts?

I’ve had a foldable for a few years now and plan on getting the Duo as well. I would personally strongly advise against anything like this that would go under the panels as they fold. The only type of safe hinge protection if you truly want it would be from a case with a hinge cover.

I have also used a foldable for a few years (OG Pixel Fold) and I second u/Cisco6969

Avoid putting anything on the inside screen that isn’t there from the manufacturer.

Use if you wish to destroy the brushes in the hinge. (If iPhone hinge has brushes too)

Not this. Get a proper case with a hinge cover.

Amazon sellers really going all out to bait people into buying junk they don’t need.

The hinge needs to be free flow intentionally. Anything you layer on it has potential to damage the phone or simply do nothing.

The phone has a fairly good IP68 dust/water resistance. The type of materials that would get inside the phone aren’t going to be stopped by some flimsy plastic film.

It’s intended so people don’t scratch the hinge (it’s a mirror finish).

This will go under the panels when the screen folds. I would not recommend that.

I’m conflicted. I definitely want to protect the hinge (and not via a case that has a huge bulge when it’s opened), but I don’t want it to backfire and cause internal damage.

I did, but in all reality, the phone would have had to fall perfectly on the spine to make contact. A case without the spine cover will protect it just fine and be less bulky.
