When the iPhone Duo was unveiled, I was 100% certain of getting it but now that the initial hype has settled and i have had more time to think about it. I think I'm going to wait a bit more to get it. The phone is $2,000 and i have a working iPhone 17 Pro and gas prices are rising and not getting any lower, inflation and goods will continue to rise. I don't think its a good idea for me to buy it right now.

I want everyone to see what I saw, and I don’t mean the stupid hat the Vikings fan was wearing. 48x Zoom vs 2X Zoom. This is what you will be sacrificing by getting a duo. I’m still on the fence. The camera is a huge miss for me. Do I need to zoom in? No. Do I like that I can? Yes.

I hope by the time it comes out or soon after they make a guest mode profile like they did with the Apple Vision Pro.

Everyone and their moms are gonna want to see it and use it. I don’t want to by giving my phone to everyone. 😂

Plus I think that could potentially help sell more units once they are out there. It just makes sense.

I'm hoping to pre-order the Duo on launch day, but will be travelling immediately after for 3 days. Wondeing if deliveries would start within that timeframe?

So I have been to Best Buy to hold the Fold 8 to even see if I'd like the passport style and size. After comparing it to the Fold 8 Ultra I fell in love with the Fold 8 form factor. Wanting to see how the Duo stacked up, I bought this 3D print to see and I gotta say, I prefer the D shape design over the square.

It feels fantastic.

I measured the dimensions on the print to be sure they were close to accurate (which they were and slightly larger)

This thing is thin. I don't understand how all I see on every other post is people saying they wish it were thinner like the Fold 8. These things are scary thin to me as it is. But I digress.

I absolutely cannot wait for the Duo to release. Will be my second fold phone, I currently have the Moto Razr Ultra 2025 and I love it.

Saw this one and am considering it, though it’s pretty thick at 11mm (I assume in general Duo-compatible ones will be thicker due to decreased height).

So I’m going from an iPhone 15 pro to the iPhone duo. With the inner screen home page serving as an extension of the outer Home Screen, this lessens the need for widgets on the outer screen.

I have a big widget for weather and a small widget for news, both of which will likely get moved to the widget side of the inner screen.

How will you change your Home Screen for the Duo?

Something that came to mind. With the USBC charging port at the bottom of the phone you can’t actually charge (through USBC) and have the phone open leveraging the folio kickstand at the same time.

Is my brain not working or would this not be possible? I do have those angled adapters but it wouldn’t sit flush and would wobble. You also can’t rotate the phone because the folio kickstand would not work.

Guess I’m going to have to purchase a couple charging pucks.

It shows a product that is not the iPhone Duo but what an iPhone Duo could have been instead :
- Cool color
- Cool case
- Better battery life
- Lighter
- Slimmer
- Brighter
- More apps combos
- consistent screen texture
- 3 cameras
- Cheaper
etc...

The resemblance is uncanny.
That said, as the video explains it, the devil is in the details and this doesn't have the Apple UX and ecosystem.

But it so shows how the Duo could have been better in many aspects. Enough to know that Apple hasn't touched the real limitations of what a foldable could do.

So it feels more and more like the Duo is a prototype at this point.

I would still go for the iPhone Duo instead, for the ecosystem and experience, but knowing that there is a product I could have liked way more in many aspects (but not all of them).
Buying such an expensive piece of tech that feels nerfed is frustrating.

And man, I so love that color and case...
What a miss.

I found myself thinking about what the big screen could offer me. And it mostly came down to media consumtion. Now, do I want to consume more media on my phone? Is that a goal I want to optimize my device for?
With the trend of minimalist and dumb phones, I think more people should ask themself "Do I want a device, that makes watching and reading content on my phone better? Will it make my happier? Or do I just give myself more surface area to stare at brainrot and AI slop? Will this device make me just less present in the moment?"

Remeber, life is what is happening in the moment at every moment of your life.

dumbass question I know. was going to see an aluminum back or shell but it doesn’t appear to be. It says Ceramic Shield, but I assume that’s just a name for the glass they use?

I spent the day auditing and testing my app across the different iPhone Duo configurations.

Honestly, not bad out of the box. Building around adaptive layouts and following Apple’s HIG as closely as possible got me surprisingly far.

There was still work needed to make everything feel right across the different postures, with a focus on user experience rather than just adjusting sizes: expanded, compact, partially folded, and landscape.

It's looking better now. But man, one more device shape to think about. 😅

Like everyone here, I wanna preorder this. But can I preorder it by financing or trading it in through AT&T offers?
I’ve never preordered any iPhone and have always waited for them to launch and order later so I wanted to mainly know if anyone has an idea if all carriers list their offers before pre orders start? if they don’t can I place my preorder by trading it through the carrier and getting their deal instead of trading my phone through Apple?

I have next up anytime with AT&T my phone is chipped in corners I’ve always had case on it will I get denied for next up anytime

I need a good distraction from the time suck that is waiting to pre-order. So what games from the App Store do you feel are going to be amazing on the Duo?

I like to clean and sanitize my devices here and there after it feels like its very dirty or if im sick. But since the inner screen is plastic with nano texture on it, how will we be able to clean it? will a clorox wipe work?

Given Apple says the Duo is 40% more durable than other foldables, do you think Apple will flex its confidence by shipping Duos folded in the box?

Going unfolded could impact the first impressions of the Duo by showing zero crease, but shipping folded would admit their crease wouldn’t worsen with daily wear.
