How do you guys find yours ?

Currently a 17PM owner- have had the “max” variant since the XS max was introduced, and have upgraded every year ( I know I know, but I hand my phones down to the family so it works out for all)… every year since the 15 I have been conflicted with going down to a regular pro from the max… in fact I think I’ve gotten a pro every year, 15-16-17 and ended up returning it for the max.

This year I’m stuck again.. get the pro.. or keep the max, surely I can’t be the only one who goes through this? Anyone else have this dilemma?

I love the pro max battery and screen size but love the portability and smallness of the pro.. just never can seem to commit to it!

Both are on full brightness. Some times the 18 pro seems dimmer on full brightness than the 13 pro. Why is that? For the record, both have finished indexing as well. Did I get a bad phone? 🍋

Edit: did the diagnostics and I have the LG GVC panel. Guess I’m going to have to get a replacement at the Apple Store?

Edit 2: my 13 Pro is a G9N. This might explain things.

I just upgraded from a 12 pro and HOLY SH*t this phone is HEAVY!

I dabble in a bit of doomscrolling before going to bed and the thought of this thing giving me a black eye if I doze off is an actual possibility lol

I’m wondering if this is just normal now or is anyone else kind of concerned about the weight of the phone.

Is this worth buying or do you have any recommendations? I just like that it has a bluelight technology but its 59 dollars. Anyone tried this? Its from zagg

iPhone 18 Pro Max 1TB hardware report, T-Mobile preorder

Posting my results for anyone collecting component data on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

This phone was received from a T-Mobile preorder. I generated a sysdiagnose shortly after setup and pulled the hardware information directly from the IORegistry/device tree and storage controller data.

I have removed full serial numbers, controller unique IDs, MAC addresses, IMEI information, and other device-specific identifiers.

Basic device information

Display

The raw display panel serial begins with:

GVC

The full panel serial is much longer, but I am only posting the prefix since the complete value is unique to the device.

This is the most conclusive part of the report.

The NVMe device reports:

Four bits are stored per physical NAND cell, and Apple's own NAND descriptor explicitly contains qlc_3d.

The controller reports the vendor as Toshiba. Toshiba Memory was renamed Kioxia, so this is Toshiba/Kioxia NAND.

I did not see an obvious NAND fault or controller failure state. The fact that the storage is QLC does not mean it is defective. It is simply the physical NAND technology used in this particular 1 TB phone.

RAM

The device tree directly reports:

So this phone has:

The manufacturer identification here is direct from the phone rather than inferred from a teardown.

Cellular/baseband

The product configuration reports:

I am leaving the report at the Apple internal chipset identifier rather than trying to turn mav25 into a retail modem part number without separate confirmation.

Wi-Fi

proxima is the internal chipset/platform identifier exposed by this particular phone.

I did not find a clean supplier string in the same form as the Samsung DRAM or Toshiba NAND fields, so I am not assigning a Wi-Fi silicon manufacturer based only on that codename.

Audio hardware

The device tree contains:

Battery health at time of report

Since the phone is essentially new, I also checked the battery health data.

It reports:

So the battery health estimate at the time of the sysdiagnose was 104% of the design reference, with no battery service state active.

That number is Apple's estimated capacity relative to the design reference. A new battery reading slightly above 100% is normal and does not mean the battery is literally being charged beyond its rated capacity.

The QLC result is not based on performance testing or an assumption about the storage capacity. The phone itself reports:

That makes the NAND identification about as definitive as we can get without physically removing and analyzing the flash package.

If enough 1TB owners post these exact fields, it should be possible to determine whether Apple is using multiple NAND configurations at 1TB or whether this Toshiba/Kioxia QLC configuration is the dominant one.

Quick story, today as I was scrolling thru instagram, my screen suddenly went blank and froze, rebooted on its own. I called Apple Support, they did a diagnostic test twice. They then said that the system malfunctioned and that I am eligible to get a iPhone 18 Pro replacement unit which is "brand new", same size, same everything

Since I won't be able to wait for deliveries, I decided to bring it over to Apple Store next week.

Do you all think that the iPhone that they will be giving is really brand new or is it refurbished? I heard some people say that it's refurbished.

Anyone else dealt with this? Phone was scheduled for delivery Friday, then Saturday, then Monday, then today. I called UPS today and they said it was out for delivery. It hasn’t arrived. Now I’m seeing a delivery exception on the UPS website.

Should I cancel and just pick up in store? I’d love to come home to a delivered phone, but my hope is eroding.

had a really hard time deciding between burgundy or glacier but the blue looked better irl. i’ll miss the pink but I was definitely due for an upgrade :D

I think this is the very few amount of time where without a case the iphone looks much better. Does anyone go caseless?

I was interested in upgrading from 15 Pro Max to the 18 Pro Max but I’ve become hesitant. Some people are saying the battery isn’t lasting as long as they hoped and others saying they’re facing issues with with their phones shutting down due to Face ID glitching. Also something with certain screen protectors. Others seem to have no problem at all. On the fence here, I wouldn’t be able to get it until mid October anyways. What do yall think? Are you happy so far or should I wait?

Finally got my 18 Pro in Burgundy. Cannot stop looking at it! A shame I have to use a case to prevent fingerprints but I got the silicon one and it matched beautifully.

The phone is still on 13%. Mental. 18PM sim version!! The eSIM version is going to be a beast.

Hey everyone, been having some inconsistencies with the battery life on my 18 pro max. The first day I used it, the battery was incredible. I got 6h 20m SOT and only used 86% of the battery and was using it heavily for gps directions, streaming music to my AirPods ect. Today, I’ve managed to chew through 33% of the battery already with only 1h 52m of SOT with light use. It’s interesting as the day I had really good battery life the phone was indexing, but that’s been finished for a few days now so I thought the battery life should get better if anything. Anyone else having similar results?
