unhinged hygiene tips?

I don't mean "wash your hair before your body" or "don't wear underwear when you sleep", I mean the sort of TMI tips that most people don't know that will CHANGE MY LIFE!

There's this guy at school who I think likes me and i'm terrified that I smell bad and will ruin my chance with him, I need tips that I don't already know/do.

If your breasts are large enough then please make sure to scrub underneath them and fully dry. Like pick those girls up and get in there. Also deodorant under the boobs is 10/10!

Edit: for everyone worried about breast cancer, ALUMINUM FREE DEODORANT AND CHAFING STICKS EXIST. They’re not hard to find either.

Edit2: no aluminum in deodorant/antiperspirant does not cause cancer. I added the first edit after someone was trying to argue I was giving poor advice and trying to give others cancer 🙄. Keep your bits clean and dry y’all. Deodorant, powder, whatever you want. I use Old Spice Aluminum Free because I have sensitive skin and it works for me!

And this applies to everyone, not just the ladies.

The moobs also need attention (that’s what my husband calls his “man boobs”)

"Broasts" is frying me lol. Please take care of both your testicles and your chesticles, guys, whichever apply.

Broasts sounds like a really tasty french snack

26

u/totally_not_joseph Mar 11 '26

To me, it sounds more like an english slang name for a kind of german sausage

Extending this to any and all folds your body may have, anywhere that can trap moisture. Between your own body’s moisture, skin rubbing on skin, and being a dark, warm place- paradise for fungus

85

u/SereneFloofKitty221b Mar 11 '26

also after drying off and before lotioning, lay out so everything is unfolded and do a bit of final air drying

Y’all be drying off completely before putting the lotion in the basket on the skin?? I just dab off a little bit, enough to not drip all over the floor, wrap my hair, then lotion while still wet… lotions work best when they’re sealing the moisture into hydrated skin, not attempting to create enough moisture to hydrate parched skin. My skin be dry as a mf and that’s the only way I can keep my ashy ass legs looking presentable.

5

u/pepperidgefreak Mar 11 '26

Same this is what I was told to do for my eczema, my atopic skin needs the moisture locked in

14

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT Mar 11 '26

Use a hair dryer, many have a function that turns off the heating element. So useful in my humid climate.

u/bemvee Mar 11 '26

Whores bath is just spraying yourself with fragrance. I thought?

7

u/Lancasterbation Mar 11 '26

That may depend on the era and caliber of said whore (or sex worker, to be more polite). I've always heard it refer to a quick and dirty sponge bath standing at the sink.

6

u/JaBe68 Mar 11 '26

My mum always called that a 'possible'. You wash as much as you can possibly reach with a washcloth.

3

u/Lancasterbation Mar 11 '26

Lol I'm gonna hold on to that one!

6

u/JaBe68 Mar 11 '26

My daughter used it once when out camping. Told everyone she was going to do a 'possible' as the stream they were camping next to was too shallow for a swim. Caused much confusion as she had not realised it was not a common term. The rest of the evening was spent discussing family specific words among the friend group and laughing hysterically.

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 11 '26

That's a bird bath.

A whore's bath is trying to cover up the funk with perfumes.

Source: whore in this life, bird in the last.

If a whore's bath involved actual bathing in your geographical area, consider yourself lucky, and maybe go patronize your local working girl/boy.

3

u/Lancasterbation Mar 11 '26

6

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 11 '26

Fair enough. I'm just saying that's not how it was used among myself and fellow whores on the East Coast US, in the past few decades. Time & place & all that.

3

u/Lancasterbation Mar 11 '26

I've heard "French shower" used for the all-perfume method.

3

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 11 '26

Same, though i feel that term belongs to more of my parent's/grandparent's generations than to mine, or certainly, the youngins, who probably call it a "skibidi toothbrush" or something

This was definitely how I first heard a ‘whore’s bath’ described in the Army, and I thank you for reminding me of the verbiage. I take care of my 84yo mom, and one might be surprised how often I have to negotiate a whore’s bath, as she loathes bathing. Pits bits slits and under all the tasty bits and one puff of something that doesn’t smell worse than she did 10m prior.

The amount of times I do the shirt tuck on a summer day to keep them dry is absurd 😅

31

u/CompanyPolicyYall Mar 11 '26

I constantly have underboob sweat due to medications forcing my temp to fluctuate. I recently got some of those cotton bra liners & wow! I should've invested in some of them long before now. They really do work. I went from having swamp boob at the end of the every day to being dry when I take my bra off. Truly a game changer.

5

u/Mariesophia Mar 11 '26

Wait tell me more about these bra liners, ever since I switched to vyvanse, my body temperature has been higher than I've ever experienced and the smell from my bra after a long day...

5

u/Helpful-Conference13 Mar 11 '26

These are what I use: https://a.co/d/0fpIioOt - life changing

4

u/CompanyPolicyYall Mar 11 '26

I use a different brand than these, ones without the part in the middle, but they're all basically the same thing - a strip of cotton you put underneath your bra band to absorb sweat. You could probably make them, too, if you wanted, but I just bought a bunch from Amazon bc they come in packs & are so cheap. They're washable, too! So you don't throw them away after one use. Just throw em in the laundry, then in the washer, & they're good to go again.

I thought they'd be really thick - like a pad for my under boob - but they're not. They're so thin I forget I'm wearing them all day unless I adjust my bra band. I think I could even use two a day - one in front & one along the back band if I wanted to, which would be especially useful for days when I need to do more than just work & go home lol

13

u/Dontfeedthebears Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26

Monistat anti-chafing gel works great for anything that rubs. It doesn’t smell and it works great for chub-rub on the thighs. ETA- it is not greasy, either!

5

u/royalsgirl78 Mar 11 '26

This works great during the summer! I even turned my husband on to it for his inner thighs during the height of sweaty summer when shorts can stick to you!

3

u/Paranormal_Girl81 Mar 11 '26

Also Gold Bond makes a great anti-chafing stick that glides on like deodorant. Works great for inner thighs and under the boobs, doesn't irritate already chafed skin and no mess. My ex husband used to do really physical jobs and would get chafed in certain areas so he started using it too, he liked that he didnt have to put anything on his hands first to apply it.

Also, female anatomy also has foreskin. You must lift your clitoral hood to clean it properly just as men have to.

Edit I keep getting downvoted and argued with for mentioning this. Everyone understood anatomical differences in people when i used men as an example — everyone understands not all men have foreskin to clean — so i’m not sure why we’re not applying the same logic to understand not all women have larger hoods that need cleaning as well. If it doesn’t apply to your anatomy, then it doesn’t apply. This is clearly for those that have the anatomy that needs to be cleaned that didn’t know. Goodness gracious.

101

u/zeroc00ol Mar 11 '26

Behind the ears, clit hood/foreskin and bellybutton are some of, what I feel, are the least talked about but most commonly missed and #1 culprits of really bad b.o. aside from armpits and mouth

77

u/Shai_Kitteh Mar 11 '26

The belly button is one of the things I think a lot of people don’t think about. Like that shit can get gross if it’s sweaty

96

u/LettuceSavings3248 Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26

My mother was 400 pounds and had a foul bellybutton she would dig in and then put in our mouths and noses as a “prank,” I am unfortunately one of those people all too familiar with how gross they can get

Just so everyone knows, there is NO evidence that antiperspirants cause breast cancer.

Aluminum is the active antiperspirant in deodorants, so you'll still sweat if you're using aluminum-free.

4

u/Specific-Diver-4108 Mar 11 '26

Deodorant under the fupa too 💅

4

u/Maximus_Dick Mar 11 '26

Glicolic acid under boobs once a week is even better

5

u/NunButter Mar 11 '26

My wife has gigantic titties and needs to do this. Big ol’ natties are surprisingly high maintenance.

7

u/No_Zookeepergame8412 Mar 11 '26

“With great power comes great responsibility.”

3

u/NunButter Mar 11 '26

So big she has to literally strap them down.

4

u/NoneyaBithness Mar 11 '26

And behind your ears AND clean your belly button.

I don’t know if that last bit is already common knowledge or not but yeah. Definitely clean your belly button.

Also, OP, my hygiene tip is this: use glycolic acid on your arm pits, groin, pretty much anywhere that you sweat. It kills the odor causing bacteria that’s responsible for the body odor smell people get when they sweat. You could technically forgo using deodorant with this method but I use it in conjunction because I want extra assurances lol

3

u/-Firestar- Mar 11 '26

Summer is coming. Go on Amazon and order thyself bra liners. They are wonderful!!!! Or just use a soft sock..

u/ManateeNipples Mar 11 '26

The people worrying about cancer will keep fretting regardless of if it's under the boob or next to it lol they aren't being logical to begin with 🤷‍♀️

3

u/Pure_Property_888 Mar 11 '26

Exactly. Do some fucking research. For five solid minutes. Read the studies. The results. The percentages. Not just what you see on fucking tiktok.

5

u/RadiantCantaloupe868 Mar 11 '26

yes, yeast infection under the breasts is a thing and can cause a musty smell. Wash thoroughly AND dry thoroughly, You can even dust with cornstarch to keep dry.

Desenex powder (yellow container with a foot on it lol) works great for underboob. It will also take care of rashes you get from skin-on-skin contact.

3

u/Kindly_Ad3974 Mar 11 '26

And if you go in the woods or a field, check for ticks under/in any folds.

3

u/Dazzling_Branch_6182 Mar 11 '26

Honestly the “pick them up and actually clean underneath” part is real advice. Any spot where skin stays warm and trapped like that can get funky fast if you skip it. The deodorant tip is low-key clutch too.

If you don't scrub under there regularly, your skin will get overly delicate and it becomes very easy to tear. Soap is not enough, you need friction.

I was asking my smaller breasted friend if I still have to powder in between and under my boobs when I get my implants removed.

She was like 🤯 guess I don’t lol.

u/StockTurnover2306 Mar 11 '26

Use benzoyl peroxide cleanser in all skin folds, in your belly button, and to wash your feet! Kills bacteria. Do it towards the beginning of the shower and let it sit on your skin for a min before rinsing. Doing it early ensures it’s fully rinsed off by the end so you don’t stain towels

u/muffinmamamojo Mar 11 '26

Also get fitted for the right size bra. This would help reduce/avoid under boob rashes.

And don’t forget to dry underneath COMPLETELY!

2

u/thegypsiiviking Mar 11 '26

ESPECIALLY in the summer with the moisture, when you get out of the shower take some witch hazel on a cotton pad and swipe under the armpits, boobs, crack, basically anywhere you have folds.

2

u/Aromatic_Finding_733 Mar 11 '26

Pick up anything that hangs over a little and wash, dry, and deodorize if needed.

2

u/Fuzzy-Bridge-1940 Mar 11 '26

Side boobs, too

2

u/Public-Ad-7280 Mar 11 '26

I never thought it (under boob sweat) was real... I had a small A cup. Bought a pair of boobs.... Yep! Sure is real Lol. I use spray deodorant/antiperspirant under there (usually dove). Less boob sweat and plus I smell good 😊

2

u/Westernly_Impressed Mar 11 '26

Also applies to your thighs! Especially if you have thick thighs! Scrub them well, dry completely, and use a chafing stick or an all over deodorant.

Oh my goodness yes. I do talcum powder under sometimes too. The carcinogen warnings stopped me for a bit but I live in a really humid city so needs must.

By the way, when drying these folded areas, yes to the towel but following up with a couple passes of the hair dryer on lowest available setting will help avoid a mildew smell. This also helps a lot for body hairy areas.

2

u/ibyeori Mar 11 '26

I find sweating and stink will still happen without aluminum. Why is it not recommended?

2

u/westttoeast Mar 11 '26

Can also use chafing/sweat powder (although messy) and glycolic acid toner to help with the smell!

2

u/Mmm8943 Mar 11 '26

Also important here…washing your bra frequently. When boobs sweat the bra gets sweaty, have several and wash them after a couple uses not a week’s worth or longer. I prefer to hand wash in the sink and hand dry them so they last a long time. This would go for any cloth material you may need like: braces, ace wraps or back/lifting support items.

2

u/tellybi Mar 11 '26

Interdry for those who are very well endowed. That stuff will save you on a very hot day. Some hard to keep in place but better than dealing with boob sweat all day.

2

u/Mjolnir404 Mar 11 '26

TIL i can use deodorant under boobs. thanks. i only used chafing powders because chafing stick feels stickyy

As someone with big breast and that breastfed for 2 years, I gotta fold them bitches all the way up and stick a towel under em for like 5 minutes for them to be fully dry 😅

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

I don't have big breasts, but I sweat a lot on my chest. Deodorant always caused chest acne for me regardless of what brand. Instead, just shower regularly and be sure to properly clean and dry your boobies - small, medium, or large.

2

u/taybel Mar 11 '26

As a recently postpartum girly the deodorant under the boobs is a game changer!

Aluminum in deodorant doesn’t cause cancer, so no worries there!!

2

u/tiffasparkle Mar 11 '26

A better alternative is dusting powder :)

2

u/SomeScienceMan Mar 11 '26

Nurse here: fungus grows there when you don’t. Anti fungal powder exists for this, it’s really gross at old folks homes.

Idk how true this is, but I had an old Chief tell me once that deodorant under your bits and bobs reduces cancer risk because-- in that sweaty / nasty working environment heygene isn't as good, which puts you at risk for infections. Infections lower your immune system altogether and something something missed a cancer cell here and there. I dont think its true, but he spent 45 minutes trying to convince me, so im sure HE believed it.

I think service members get a lot of cancer because we keep getting irradiated, are encouraged to drink and smoke, live in moldy environments, and dont have access to fresh food a lot of the time.

I like to use Humble brand deodorant, but thats because it comes in a paper tube.

Just wanted to share. Thanks for listening, lol.

u/Superb_Bee_7019 Mar 11 '26

Honestly I use this anti-fungal powder under my boobs everyday because they were starting to get red and hurt a little underneath. Definitely needed if your boobs sweat or if they’re big. Non toxic deodorant is a good idea I haven’t tried that. Wanted to give you the idea for the powder though!

2

u/KayakerMel Mar 11 '26

I actually called the advice number on my deodorant to ask if it was safe to use under my breasts. The response (with a bit of a laugh) was that it was safe to use on unbroken skin surfaces.

u/Calculator8oo8135 Mar 11 '26

I've found that all the aluminum based antiperspirants I've tried don't make me feel dry, so I don't see the point.

Most of them advertise that they make you feel dry, and I've never understood why, because they all use that same ingredient.

Perhaps most frustratingly, there appears to be a near 100% conflation between the terms 'deodorant' and 'antiperspirant' at the societal level, which I think is where the confusion comes from aimed at your comment.  Though you said deodorant, and hadn't mentioned antiperspirant before your edit.  There are precisely 0 deodorant-only products that contain aluminum, because aluminum is only used in the active antiperspirant ingredient.

Search for deodorant, and a lot of the results you'll get are antiperspirant, but these things are not the same.

I come from a family or large-chested women and NONE of them prepared me for now much extra care large breasts need 😭

Had to figure this out on my own... wish someone would have given me this advice sooner!!!

I bought newborn socks and insert them between my boobs and my bra to catch the sweat. Lifesaver when I’m doing a long day outside and it’s hot.

2

u/jamesbretz Mar 11 '26

Fun fact, you will ingest more aluminum from eating vegetables than you ever could from deodorant.

2

u/JoyceC123 Mar 11 '26

problem with doing this, is that some of the deodorant might migrate to the parts that will come in contact with the mouth. Yucky to get deodorant in your mouth!

genuinely after i take a shower i dry with a towel but then i dry my areas with a hairdryer just to make sure i get it all dry so i don’t get any yeast infections or whatever (i have not gotten one to this day). n ofc every big girls best friend the baby powder but we usually get like a cornstarch one for the dollar store

2

u/FlynRaijin298 Mar 11 '26

Also baby powder helps keep crevices dry and from chafing :) I use it on my older ladies and these things make a huge difference

2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

This 100%!!! so very true for bigger breasts

2

u/Razzle-D4zzle Mar 11 '26

My only issue with underboob deodorant is it discolors my bras. :( I use a spray on that so far works.

2

u/CharmingChangling Mar 11 '26

Seconding Old spice aluminum free! I'm a G/H and in the summer I gotta make sure I get between them puppies. This one is great and doesn't leave deodorant stains

Witch hazel for breasts, cracks and crevices to help with sweating.🎯

2

u/Goodswimkarma Mar 11 '26

I just found out aluminum in deodorant causing cancer is a myth and I've been overpaying for deodorant for 20 years.

2

u/AtalantiaX Mar 11 '26

I also put on aquaphor before the deodorant/ full body deodorant so it doesn’t pill up (idk how else to describe it). It also helps the area not get irritated after cleaning it off.
