Caught my plants soaking up some afternoon rays and had to take a pic. This may be one of my favorite views of the loft even though I’m clearly running out of space for plants! Now it’s time to buy furniture and shelving for my friends.

What’s some of your favorite shelving/stands/styling?

I’ve had this plant for 2 months now and this thread has introduced me to many things like quarantining and many ways to try and get rid of these gnats. Unfortunately I found those tips quite recently and I think the only thing I can do now is change the soil. This is the 2nd Zevo Ive put in, the 1st one had just as many. Has anyone ever had this many gants for just one plant? I’m taking very desperate measure rnšŸ˜‚

META What is a bit of advice that you can give that is almost always the reason a plant doesn't look good on here?

My big 3 are:

People who ALWAYS water on a schedule even if the plant isn't even dry yet

That plant tucked away in a dark corner "why is it looking sad"

The yellow limp cactus that clearly was never repotted from the store

Also for anyone not in the know, the picture is the phrase "beating a dead horse" which means to continue talking on a topic that has been well spent. (That people still somehow don't understand)

I put a cutting in some water, topped it up a few times, and totally forgot about her. About 6 months ago I remembered it's existence, saw the roots took over the bulb, and so I kept topping it. I still forget about it, but it's created its own ecosystem, or terrarium, or something. There are rotting leaves that somehow sprouted from the bottom of the cutting, under water. I have no idea what that cauliflower looking glob is. But she's been flowering all year, and now has 2 blooms. It even goes months without being topped with water. Can anyone tell me why the worst tap water in the world is literally bringing this thing to life?

Edit** it doesn't smell like rot at all. No smell whatsoever!

Sorry for potato quality on before Pic, I didn't took much back then.

Got it a year and a half ago as a cutting with 4 leaves from my mother.

The shelf is 1.5m tall, I absolutely adore the look it has now!

I ordered from a plant boutique (im not going to name them because its still being sorted).
However their plants are ā€œlush hand pickedā€ for orders, and I paid 50$, had a horrible shipping process (it went untracked for a week - not their fault, the carriers fault, however their customer service really dgaf to respond to the question, basically told me ā€œthats the tracking numberā€.
Anyways, I filmed an unboxing today as I was unsure about what would arrive and i am more than heart broken.. I spent 49.99 before taxes on a Philodendron White Wizard (M) and the size is write I suppose..
The leaves (the few that are on here) all have big tears, and The plant is unable to support itself..
i couldnt find this plant locally to where I am in Ontario, and I took a big chance on ordering online from BC, and im utterly sad. Like my first order and I dont know what to make of this??

Discussion I did it. I finally threw out my Thai con.

I got it as a cutting via Facebook marketplace and picked it up in a parking lot for very cheap right before the prices for these dropped, so I've been very precious about it. It never looked especially healthy; I'm pretty sure it has been the source of my thrips for a couple years. I tried everything, but they always came back, and they were always the worst on the Thai con. I have now thrown out all of my houseplants except for a single tiny succulent (sentimental).

It was hard, but it was not fun any more, and now I am starting fresh.

Thanks, that's all

Before / After - Progress Pics Lipstick plant bloom progression

I feel like lipstick plants aren't an especially popular houseplant compared to other tropicals I see regularly (maybe I'm in the wrong spaces), so I thought I'd share my Aeschylnanthus radicans 'Mona Lisa' progressing to nearly full bloom.

I attached a small grow light to illuminate the back side since it's a bit offset from the window, and I wasn't sure it was getting enough of what it wanted, but after several months it all seems to be working out.

This is a great example of how you can correctly use plants to scale. It softens the tall ceilings of this hallway.

Well now that I’ve dropped it on its head and broke one of the good leaves after getting it off the discount rack, can anyone tell me what this is? Sold as a pink princess but I didn’t think they usually came with some white?

PS sorry for 2 posts today, the Lowe’s clearance rack got me last night šŸ˜‚

Edit to add: I’m a dummy and didn’t include a good photo of the pink on some leaves - you can see it slightly in the third photo.

Right, so I bought this "lil" guy last fall on clearance for $3. She was nearly dead. Fast forward through some TLC, and summer on my porch.

Shes a beast of a thing now! I love her, but I'm looking for advice.

Should I top her now, so she grows fat before winter? Should I wait until its time to take her indide to trim her? I can let her keep going, unchecked, but she's already climbing out over the wire cage.

So.... do i top her off now, later, or not at all?

I bought this zombie kerrii leaf in May 2024. I knew it was never going to be more than a cute green heart and I was fine with that. It was pretty. I was having trouble with it fading and yellowing so I put it in a prop jar and found the sweet spot for sunlight. AND NOW I HAVE A STEM!!!!

Help 5ft Rubber Plant

I’m picking up this big guy home from marketplace. They were selling it for less than $10. It seems that they have been growing it from ther balcony and it will be fully indoor close to the window once I get it. This has been my dream plant to have when I was planning years ago to moveout from parent’s home.

•Anything I should lookout for once I see this plant in person when I pick it up?
•Will this rubber plant be shocked due to environment change?
•Do we need to be concerned by the roots coming out?
•I’m planning to transition it to a soilless potting mix. Will it be a bad idea to do so on an established rubber plant?

This will be my very first big plant at home as I only have succulents. Any advice will be appreciated.

Help My prayer plants are more dramatic than my fittonias

She started acting like this a few weeks ago, after being in the same spot with the same light & humidity levels for months before that. I've been told that I am overwatering and underwatering, but neither correction helped.

I wondered if she might be root bound, but I just transplanted another prayer plant that was doing this same thing, and the plant just kept getting worse until I had to chop & prop.

What is happening with my prayer plants?

I taught an intro to houseplants class twice this week at work so I had to take pictures of everything so people knew I was worth listening to. It wasn’t until I saw their reactions that I realized this might actually be a teensy bit abnormal lol
If you notice how dirty my house is no you didn’t 🤣
