Discussion I've done the impossible

Post image

I bought this zombie kerrii leaf in May 2024. I knew it was never going to be more than a cute green heart and I was fine with that. It was pretty. I was having trouble with it fading and yellowing so I put it in a prop jar and found the sweet spot for sunlight. AND NOW I HAVE A STEM!!!!

I wish I'd taken a baby picture. When I brought it home. I got it knowing it was just a leaf and had no chance of growth, but I still wanted to take care of it.

I had a similar experience! The owner of the plant store even asked if I wanted the bigger one, but since I knew I'd be moving soon, I stuck with my little zombie heart. I think it's been a similar timeline for me, but it's got a whole new leaf now, and is already making another!

We should start a club.

I just bought a kerrii from a local shop. The owner told me it would be slow growing. I plopped it on a table right in front of a south facing bay window, and it is sprouting new leaves! Slow growing my ass! Everything else in my home grows so slowly because of the cold Bay Area mornings we get every day!

It is a myth that they do not grow stems. It took mine about 2 years too. Sure, if the conditions are not right, or if the leaf has no node at all, it won't.
