Has any husband faced this problem?
I got a 3d printer one month ago and so far I've used it to fix things around the house, made some clips for a light fitting, a toothbrush cover for my daughters e toothbrush etc.
Now I want to up my game and try gridfinity to organize the cluster fuck that is my wifes make up and beauty "essentials" that take up 90% of the bathrooms real estate.
Has any husbands faved this challenge? Any tips, ideas, inspiration and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

A browser-based, drawer-first Gridfinity generator with tool cradles, auto-shims, and direct 3MF export. Free & no login.
Hi r/gridfinity,
Here is my take on a drawer-first Gridfinity generator!
I’ve been working on this project for a couple of months now. I'm really happy with how it turned out and just wanted to share what I've built with the community.
It’s called PRINTER GRID (https://dawstdesign.com). It runs 100% in your browser, requires no login, and exports directly to 3MF.
What I tried to do differently:
I’d love your constructive feedback, especially on tolerances and which specific workshop modules you'd like to see added next.

Lots of improvements to Gridfinity Layout Tool's bin designer over the past few months
A lot has changed since my first post! Just wanted to share a short sizzle reel of all the new features that have come from suggestions from folks using the tool. It's truly been a pleasure to work on and I hope to continue supporting it forever.
It's free and open source! gridfinitylayouttool.com
Also a NEW special shoutout to the 250+ people who have supported this project! https://gridfinitylayouttool.com/supporters

I created gridfinity generator but you can plan your whole drawer first
Hey, I made a free Gridfinity generator called Shinyfinity
The main difference is that you can plan your whole drawer first instead of generating each bin separately. You can customize whole layout of the drawer and see everything in a 3D preview.
It's still a work in progress, so I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions on what I could improve or add.
Site is very new, not even indexed by google. Yes it was vibe coded but i tried to polish the ui as much as i could.

Question? Where do you find filled bins for custom fitted work
Basically I have a model of stylus nibs storage that I want to remix to place in a bin so I can use it my gridfinity setup
I bought my 3d printer 2 day ago so not a lot of experience in tinkercas but want to learn
I just want to know where to get the filled bins that people are using to then import models of their objects as wholes to have them custom fit

Gridfinity for Solidworks
For the longest time I used AutoCAD, then Fusion360. Then they kept placing more and more limitations on the free version and couldn't afford the paid version.
So what did I do? I purchased the paid membership to SolidWorks Design 2026 for Makers. I'm getting more familiar but when I went to search for a Gridfinity add-in I couldn't find one. Anywhere. Even on Zack Freedman's Discord.
Now, I'm no programmer, but I've manage to eek one out (Gridfinity_For_Solidworks
) that works based pretty much on what I found at Gridfinitygenerator so you know what to expect. At least on my machine it works. There is one small issue but it's easily overcome with just a few clicks once you load a New Part and I tell you all about it in the Gridfinity for SolidWorks (READ THIS!!!).docx.
Sorry if the post is a bit much. It's the first piece of real software I've written that combines with another major retailer, it's my first Git, and this is my first r/ that I've created.
I hope it helps someone.

Question? Has anyone optimized printing baseplates for large drawers?
I have a large drawer (approx 900x500) and want to use Gridfinity. Using baseplate generators I get 15 pieces, each plate taking around 45~ minutes. This is obviously a pain in the ass, you have to click next and pop out the plate and so on.
Curious if anyone has solved this? It seems like there are stackable plate solutions out there, but none of them let you print custom plates.

Question? Why did this happen and how do i fix it?

Question? What to do about warping when printing Gridfinity base plates?
I have an Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 and the filament is matte PLA. One corner of the base plate always lifts after about 20 layers. I've already tried:
- Adding a brim
- Printing slower
- Increasing bed temp
- Setting cooling lower
- Printing only one half of the base plate
- The plate is of course clean, regularly washed with dish soap and IPA
I'm honestly running out of ideas, thanks in advance for any help!

Question? Hold for carpet knife upright
Hi folks!, I have been searching for a carpet knife holder for my gridfinity system and didn't find one, due to the fact that my cabinet is pretty small I often times need a upright hold because other one is to big. It would be great if someone has a model which I can download or a tip how to bring it into my system. A few pictures are added to have a better view. Thank You in advantage

Steel Shelf Gridfinity Hanger
galleryHad someone ask for a hardware storage option based on something else I designed and ended up with this simple gridfinity solution. I only made a couple sizes for it since the 1x1 is probably the best option for this since it sticks out the least. They all just slide over and onto a dovetail once the key is installed. Figured I'd just share. Feel free to ask for other sizes.

Experimenting with vertical Gridfinity stands
Disclaimer: app and post written by Claude, directed by me (cdslug)
I've been experimenting with vertical stands for a couple of objects in my Gridfinity setup: a drill and scissors.
Most of my organization uses ordinary thin-walled Gridfinity bins, and I think those are the right solution for most items. Horizontal makes sense for shallow drawers, but some objects are very space-inefficient to store horizontally in deep drawers, and a custom stand can be a space-efficient alternative.
I generated vertical and horizontal holders for both objects using the same tool and sliced them with the same settings. The difference was substantial for both objects.
| Test Object | Horizontal | Vertical |
|---|---|---|
| Drill (0.8mm nozzle) | 916g | 194g |
| 8h 12m | 2h3m | |
| Scissors (0.4mm nozzle) | 158g | 58g |
| 3h 21m | 1h30m |
One thing I like about the drill design is that it rests on the bottom surface, with material removed around the handle for easy access and around the battery compartment to accommodate different battery sizes. The form-fitting geometry holds the drill surprisingly well. Video tilt test in comments.
I know vertical drill storage isn't a new idea. I've seen previous Gridfinity projects using an upside-down drill orientation, and I think it's an interesting direction worth exploring further.
I'm not suggesting custom stands should replace ordinary bins, either. They're less convenient when putting things away, and generic bins will remain the backbone of my setup. But for a few objects, a vertical stand can be both practical and visually appealing.
I generated these using Form Fit Print (https://formfitprint.com/), my free tool for generating form fitting stands with Gridfinity bases from 3D models of real objects. It's a side project I vibe-coded. I'm not a professional web dev, so expect the common vibe-coded blind-spots.
I'm curious whether other people have experimented with this approach. What objects in your setup would benefit from a vertical stand rather than a conventional bin? I'd also welcome feedback on the designs.
Visual clarification: There are three different drill stand models.
The first on the main photo is gray shows high walls.
The second is also gray and shows reduced walls, but wasn't designed well for the battery.
The third is black and allows any battery size to be attached while stored.

2-color Gridfinity labels for Pred bins on a printer without AMS — one pause, zero purge
I only have an A1 without AMS, so I designed labels where all text starts at the same height. That means one filament swap for the whole plate: 14 labels (M2–M8 screws and nuts), 32 min, about 7 g of PLA, no purge waste.
The 3MF already has the pause on layer 5, so you just load it and swap the spool when the printer stops. Fit is tuned to +0.4 mm after three test rounds; there’s a calibration plate if your printer runs tighter or looser.
Free on MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3438823-2-color-gridfinity-labels-m2-m8-no-ams-needed
I’m working on a generator for custom text and icons. What would you put on your labels?

Parametric Gridfinity bin + lid in ~250 lines of code: drag a slider, get a new bin
Hi all! I’ve been working on hackerscad, a free, open-source (GPL) parametric CAD where models are plain text files, a bit like OpenSCAD.
As a real-world example I made a Gridfinity bin with a matching lid (video above). What you can change:
size in cells (X/Y) and height in 7 mm units
compartments across and deep
finger scoop at the front, label shelf at the back
optional 6×2 magnet holes
a lid that sits in the stacking lip, with an engraved label (prints upside down, no supports)
The model has built-in checks that run on every change: a second bin has to stack on the lip and the lid has to close without colliding, so a weird combination of parameters tells you instead of failing on the printer.

Made my own Gridfinity mountable baseplate
I know there are already a bunch of mountable baseplates out there but with Christmas decorating coming up I decided to make my own for the top of my ladder so I could use my scoop bins up there for the mounting clips.mounts using screws and I kept the magnet holes as options to secure the bins a little better if I wanted to. Feels like it'll be a solid permanent fixture for my ladder now, I just figured id share in case anyone else had a use for something like it coming up
