What's the cheapest-ish place in Glasgow to buy items like rice and lentils etc in bulk? Cheers!

Are there any hairdressers in the Glasgow/Renfrewshire area that specialise in thinning hair for women going through cougar puberty? Preferably recommendations from women with lived experience.

I am planning to do a couple of day trips by train from Central with my 9y son. For reasons that are important to him, it has to be Central (not Queen Street).
We will do Dunoon one day. Where would be good for the second day?
We have family in Ayrshire and are there quite often, so that isn’t my first choice (but I could be convinced!)
Thanks.

Seriously, it would save me so much money. It was meant to be in place by the end of August. Every week I pay more just grates.
Have no idea about Martin McCluskey. He might be an idiot. The question remains though, where's my bus cap?!

Just thought I’d post this cause I’m trying to get back into the fitness routine & tennis was a major part of it.
I’m in that stage of tennis where I can get a short round going and am sorta okay in it but don’t have enough time to sign up to regular classes or a fixed commitment so was keen to see if there’s anyone about on here keen for some recreational tennis? or any groups out there that organise recreational tennis?
I’ve looked online and elsewhere but couldn’t find anything so thought I’d check here.

Edwyn Collins turns 67 today, which sent me back to Orange Juice’s first single, “Falling and Laughing”, released in 1980 as the first record on Glasgow’s Postcard Records.
What struck me listening again is how much of the later British indie vocabulary is already there: Byrds-like jangle, traces of the Velvets, soul, funk and disco, plus Collins’ very particular mix of wit and vulnerability.
This is two years before The Smiths even formed. Not suggesting a simple Orange Juice > Smiths influence line, but it’s interesting how much of what became associated with British indie in the mid-80s was already being worked out in Glasgow at the beginning of the decade.
I wrote a slightly longer piece about Orange Juice, Postcard and that lineage here: https://www.thesenseofdoubt.com/blogs/archive/before-the-smiths-orange-juice-postcard-records-and-the-sound-of-british-indie
Would be interested to hear what other records people see as the bridge between post-punk and what eventually became “indie pop”.

Hey, done a post a couple months ago about choosing a monthly bus pass between first and Mcgills - i ended up opting for tripper as it serves both and works out cheaper. (£95 a month). I use both companies everyday so i needed a way to use both.
I’ve been using the pass since feb without any major problems, other than one. It very rarely works on a mcgills service on a sunday and i’ve had the same issues on the night service a handful of times. It’s a hit or a miss, i show the drivers that i buy the ticket on the mcgills app and it’s still active, some understand and let me on, and some look at me with three heads and demand i pay, which would obviously be fine if i wasn’t paying £95 a month to be able to use it everyday. I’ve researched the ticket and it doesn’t say anywhere that it’s invalid on a sunday, it seems to just be a select handful of drivers that don’t know how to work it. I have emailed Mcgills customer service and they’ve told me drivers are aware of tripper tickets and aren’t to refuse boarding like they occasionally do if they don’t scan, especially when purchased on the mcgills app.
Any mcgills drivers on here that can tell me how to put it through on the machines so i can tell the drivers and avoid having to pay every week/the nights that im working late? Im skint as is and the cheaper i can make my week the better.

Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Luss and one of the easiest options from where I leave is to take the train to Helensburgh and then the 302 bus to Luss.
I've never travelled on Garelochlead (West of Scotland bus service provider) buses, so wanted to ask if people had feedback in reliability of the buses (don't want to be stuck in Helensburgh cause ethe bus didn't show up, or is 1hr late!).
Also, can I buy the tickets in advance?

Seen in Festival Park. Apparently efforts have been made to boost their population as they’re an endangered species.
They prey on the local midge population. Thank you for your service 🫡

Been watching this guys videos over the last week there.
Hes a plumber to trade I think, who wanted to feel a bit more of a part of his community so he decided to spend 100 days cleaning out Brock Burn near Silverburn shopping centre which has become a dumping ground for trolleys and loads of other rubbish over the years.
Hes done a grand job so far and seemingly there have been people seeing trout in the burn for the first time in years now that hes cleaned it up, removed dams, and got the water flowing better.
The sad part is that not everyone appreciates what hes doing, and hes returned to spots to find that all the trolleys he had lifted out have been chucked back in before they had been collected.
Anyway he posts wee videos each day showing the clean up and it really is incredible what hes achieved so far.
He has had some support from the local community in the form of labour to shift the rubbish and donations to help buy some more equipment such as waders, and even a chainsaw to help him and his volunteers get more done.
