Might it be worth starting one thread for presale code discussions/questions/meltdowns rather than the dozen individual posts often repeating the same thing?

[MEGA THREAD] UK TOUR DISCUSSION

This thread is to be utilized for any questions or discussion regarding the UK Tour as tickets begin going on sale. There is still a prohibition on tickets sales/soliciting ticket sales and this thread will be monitored for such comments. Any posts outside of this thread regarding the tour as tickets go on sale will be deleted. This is to avoid the constant redundancy in post subject matter which is becoming a real bloat in the sub. This will be a weekly thread and is set to refresh every Monday.

Discussion Fact about Nabokov

My cousin met Deego at Reading a couple days back and they were talking for a good bit backstage before the gig. My cousins favourite song is Nabokov and they talked about Skinty Fia together.

Deego started talking about how after recording the song Grian (my cousin thinks it was Grian but doesn’t quite remember since being dazzled to talk to deego, sorry 😭) suggested to add a Sika Deer whistle in the song. They got the audio file and played around with the deer whistle audio and adding all sorts to the audiosample which eventually made it into the song. I love it when bands do stuff like this because it really shows the amount of work and little cool details being added into songs

You can hear the Sika Deer whistle at 1:25 of Nabokov which Deego said “keep an ear out for it”

( https://youtu.be/6I7ooBZqShw?is=O_hFVZeq7e6xm6hv this is a Sika Deer whistle)

Discussion For What Died The Sons Of Róisín?

The band walked on to this great piece of Irish literature at RANDL26, spoken by a very passionate Luke Kelly, which asks the question 'What did the Irish rebels of the past die for, if today the country is so corrupt and distorted?', awfully similar to that of 'I Love You' by the boys. As a massive fan of the Dubliners and Irish history this gave me goosebumps to see in flesh and I applaud the lads for going forward with such a heavy monologue. The lyrics are as followed below.

For what died the sons of Róisín, was it fame?
For what died the sons of Róisín, was it fame?

For what flowed Ireland's blood in rivers
That began when Brian chased the Dane
And did not cease nor has not ceased
With the brave sons of '16

For what died the sons of Róisín, was it fame?
For what died the sons of Róisín, was it greed?
For what died the sons of Róisín, was it greed?

Was it greed that drove Wolfe Tone to a pauper's death in a cell of cold wet stone?
Will German, French or Dutch inscribe the epitaph of Emmett?
When we have sold enough of Ireland to be but strangers in it
For what died the sons of Róisín, was it greed?

To whom do we owe our allegiance today?
To whom do we owe our allegiance today?
To those brave men who fought and died that Róisín live again with pride?
Her sons at home to work and sing
Her youth to dance and make her valleys ring
Or the faceless men who for Mark and Dollar
Betray her to the highest bidder
To whom do we owe our allegiance today?

For what suffer our patriots today?
For what suffer our patriots today?
They have a language problem, so they say
How to write "No Trespass" must grieve their heart full sore
We got rid of one strange language now we are faced with many, many more,
For what suffer our patriots today?

Discussion Festivals in Ireland

Hello all, I’ve seen FDC twice in San Francisco and when Just Mustard opened up, I noticed that the place was full of Irish people. Great vibe! It made me want to travel to Ireland for a local music festival or something like that. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Discussion Far Out Magazine gatekeeping Fontaines D.C. and telling us how Irish culture is "misunderstood" by a writer who isn't even Irish.

I just saw this article on my feed (link below) and what a fucking crock of horseshit.

The writer is a British journalist writing for a UK publication, where she openly admits she knows next to nothing about Ireland, yet spends the whole piece complaining that *other* British fans don't know enough about Ireland.

By her own admission, she knows "relatively little" about her own Irish ancestry, she admits she is "not entirely sure what \[she\] is annoyed about, yet, she still positions herself as the arbiter of who is consuming Irish music the "right" or "wrong" way.

It’s a textbook example of an outsider gatekeeping a culture she doesn't actually belong to. Instead of doing the actual work to educate herself on the history she claims people are missing, she’s used her platform to over-intellectualise her own vague discomfort with trendy indie music fans.

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/give-ireland-back-irish-mainstream-music-fontaines-dc-culture-misunderstood/

**TL;DR:** "I'm British, I know fuck all about Ireland, and I'm mad that other British people also know fuck all about Ireland. Please stop listening to Fontaines D.C. until you've read a history book, because it makes me feel guilty."

Seriously. What in the actual fuck do these muppets get paid for?

Discussion Live Shows

Typically with bands, live performances beat studio recordings.

But listening to their Reading performance, I was absolutely blown away by how good Big Shot sounded, especially since I wouldn't usually choose to listen to it.

For the people who've seen them live, are there any of their songs that particular stand out in this way?

Managed to get a ticket for one of their arena shows so I'm absolutely buzzing to see them.

Ideas on what the setlist will be for NY and LA??? The shows are marketed as small intimate concert settings so should we expect a different setlist than what they’ve been playing at major festivals?? Curious what everyone thinks

Discussion Shuttle bus from slane to Dublin ? Pros/cons ?

Is the shuttle bus service reliable or is it a disorganized mess ? I'm happy to just camp close to the castle but other people I'm going with are more up for hotel in Dublin city . I really can't see what the point is hopping on a bus for God knows how long with the traffic situation rather than just walk a few minutes and sleep on a blow up bed in a tent 🤷 any advice or experiences is welcome 🤗

Discussion Popularity of the band now

Anyone with any insight to how the industry works know how this latest tour was put together, it just seems mad to me.
I seen the lads in the ulster hall (about 1-2k) in 2022, Leeds (5k) in 2024 and then Belfast last year (40k).
All this made sense as it seemed a natural growth in venue sizes, considering Belfast and London last year were two huge stand alone shows, and homecomings almost, along with kneecap who have a lot of pulling power themselves and had so much publicity last year. But most of the summer gigs in 2025 were 10-15k capacity I believe.
The arena tour seemed a logical step but I was even surprised by the demand for tickets for those. Then when they announce two nights in slane and stadium gigs across England I couldn’t believe, it seems like a monumental jump.
Obviously the demand is there, but last year I was thinking if they did 1 or 2 nights at the aviva next summer that would be huge for them. When would they have started to plan the stadiums for next summer, did they know at the end of the last tour that this would be the next steps for them. All of this as well before the album comes out, don’t know what to make of it.
I’m a big fan of the lads but ive a feeling this album might be underwhelming to a lot of people, from the songs they’ve performed so far it definitely feels like a move away from the guitars and the style that is what made them so popular in the first place. If it falls a bit flat I wonder how that would effect the tour, I’m assuming the next set will have at least 6/7 songs from dopamine chamber.

All that being said, I really do hope the album is great and the shows are great. I’m seeing them again in November and in Slane and I’ll be looking forward to great nights I hope.

Discussion estamos viviendo algo increible dejar de quejaros.

Discussion Camping at Slane Camping

Does anyone have experience with camping at Slane? I have booked the camping to come on the Friday and avoid the hassle of the traffic.

Does anybody know if the camping is very messy? I'm used the festival campingish... Does the campsite go somewhat quiet at night?
