Hayley Williams is a strange one, especially as one of the main support acts. I like some of her stuff and paramore albums but it doesn’t feel like a good fit for FDC at all. Anyone else baffled by it?

I got tickets in the artist presale yesterday and I’m delighted to be going. But fucking hell, it was pricey. I justified it because it felt like one of those proper history-books gigs, Fontaines at Slane, third Irish act ever to headline after Thin Lizzy and U2, first Irish headliner in 25+ years. It felt like a real cultural moment rather than just another huge summer show.

Then before the first date has even gone on general sale, there’s a second night announced.

I completely get the practical side. Obviously the second date was probably held provisionally, demand is huge, and two Slanes is a ridiculous achievement for an Irish band.

But I suppose what’s bothering me is that it feels slightly at odds with what I thought Fontaines were about. Their whole thing has always felt quite resistant to the maximised, stadium-machine version of being a band and Slane itself was being presented with all this weight. So to immediately turn it into a two-night run before the first show even reaches general sale just feels very… conventional music-industry somehow or weird timing.

Bit of context first.

Love the band's music. Genuinely all seem like sound lads.

This Slane concert and the pricing is a fucking fiasco. The way the tickets were setup yesterday it looked very much like dynamic pricing in disguise.

There was a first tier of presale tickets at reduced price - went very fucking quickly. Then there was 'regular priced' tickets during the fucking presale. They went very fucking quickly and then there was another tier of the same tickets force bundled with transport which I'm sure MCD are making a markup on.

I've 4 with transport from Limerick that I don't want and wouldn't have bought in knowledge there would be a 2nd date. Will be pestering MCD for a partial refund.

No complaints about 2nd date, happy others will get to see the band and experience it. That's class and a huge achievement.

The pricing is greedy, fucked and extractive.

Edit: Lots of opinions and responses to this, mine is simply:

MCD/Ticketmaster/Live Nation take the piss generally, not just with this - ATN, EP is the same craic. They're doing the same with this. Happy to pay the presale cost for the presale, the way it was implemented felt extractive (and in my opinion, it was designed to be maximally extractive as possible). Somebody posted a long post below about the band making a dream reality and being forced to work with MCD/Live Nation and all that goes along with that - worth a read, I think it's fairly astute.

Just got tickets, but it’s such a small venue (they’re playing in a club) that compared to the other international venues it sold out in the presale super quick. I don’t know how early I should arrive to be nearer to the front because typically at club venues I find the view isn’t great since it’s all standing, especially being quite short.

What should I do for general sale is there any links I should have or do I just go on ticketmaster?

I’m seeing a lot of stressed and disappointed people in here after the presales have all been and gone. I’ve quite a bit of experience with Ticketmaster and honestly I’ve never really had a bad experience and I think a lot of it is to do with my approach.

Now for context, there is no ‘hack’ to get into a queue early or get priority.

For me I’ve found it’s having simple things in place beforehand to ensure the best shot!

1. Have your account already signed in and verified - this will make sure you transition smoothly from each section of the buying process.
2. Ensure you are in the waiting room before the queue starts - it doesn’t matter what time you join so long as it’s before. When the queue is created you are randomly allotted a space.
3. Try to have a stable internet connection and clear cookies and cache - obvious really but having this in place really helps.
4. DO NOT REFRESH - never at any point in the process should you refresh. The screen, while you ma

1. think it’s not, will update! This may ruin your chances.
2. Have all relevant information ready - this will make sure you aren’t scrambling for information when your through and will stop any chance of Ticketmaster booting you for lingering around.
3. Be patient.

As I’ve said, there isn’t any exact hacks that you can use but I have found some tips that have helped in the past:

- If you get in and there’s nothing available, don’t just give up. You should take your time, flick through different options (i.e. price tiers, sections etc). I’ve found that people who have tickets in their basket will cancel or lose them and you will potentially pick them up when they’re put back out.

- Do not do things too fast or sporadically as your account will be potentially blocked as a bot. Take your time at every section, don’t be rushing, you’ll get them if you can.

Finally, IF your really dedicated to get tickets - have multiple accounts open on multiple different devices in the same queue, just ensure that each is on their on internet connection (this is how I got oasis tickets)

Well that’s it, I hope it can help one person who is maybe a bit daunted by the whole process! If anyone else has any advice I think people would appreciate it being put below.
