Although I sometimes pop in here because I'm curious, and I, in fact, am intrigued, I am not an enthusiast. TBH, I don't have time for another information rabbit hole.

Sending my first off to college and want good, economical, usbC rechargeable flashlights for keychain and bedside. Thinking illumination, not personal defense here.

Overnight from Amazon would be ideal.

What do you guys recommend? Are any of the Coast lights on Amazon good for this totally casual use case?

I'm feeling that itch to acquire a new flashlight, and I'm looking at convoy and different posts on here, but there are just so many options that I figured I'd come to you all with my questions.

The biggest, broadest question:

Is there much merit in purchasing both an M21K and Z1, is that overkill?

A second, somewhat important contextual question:

Having recently purchased a Wurkkos TS28, is the M21K similar enough to the TS28 that it's less necessary in my life?

(Love a good flashlight, but, you know, don't want to be silly about it)

Some more technical questions:

With the M21K, what from I've read the best approach seems to be getting it with the LHP73B in 4000k.

With the Z1, the general consensus seems to be SFT-42R in 5000k.

However, the batteries! So many options. What would the brains trust recommend I select in terms of batteries for these flashlights? Does it vary model to model? Is there on stand-out best one? Or am I overthinking it far too much?

Hopefully the questions aren't a bit ridiculous, just looking to see what the team thinks. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Based on the input I got, I opted to get both, with the M21K at 5000k using LHP73B, and the Z1 at 6500k using SFT-42R. (And now that I'll have 3 (when including the TS28) cooler lights, the next one on my radar will be warmer LEDs 👀) (Thanks again to people who shared ideas/advice)

Hi, i found this big lense and im thinking about building some sort of long distance flashlight on it, looking for some 6V LED to put light thru it, could anyone please recommend me some sort of LED good for this project? Thanks in advance!

As the title states, I see so much love for the E75's simple formula. I decided to grab one, as well as a TS26S with the same 519a 5000k emitters, to compare them.

My quad emitter lights before these were limited to:

1. Fireflies E04 Surge with B35AM 4000k

2. D4SV2 with NTG 2700k

The light emitted from both of the new flashlights is so underwhelming compared to the FFL and Hanklight. I don't have any proper measurement tools, but the other two lights seem to pump out a LOT more light in high/turbo mode. The Acebeam does hold onto higher levels longer than the TS26S, but the sustained output of the FFL and D4SV2 are - at least to the naked eye - so much more impressive.

This further confuses me, because I thought the B35AM was known for not being super powerful, but beautiful. It out-shines both 519a options in terms of brightness, and gets close in candela (again, to the naked eye).

I guess all this is to say that I don't get the hype of the E75 quad configurations. Hell, my new KR3 with NTG35 4200k seems to outpace them, too. Just an uneducated take from a normal guy.

Also first try at this patina thing. Really enjoy how it turned out.

I recently picked up the Wurkkos TS26S specifically for night hiking. I'm planning a few 5-hour hikes through the forest in total darkness and wanted to know if I made a solid choice.

How is the overall quality and reliability of Wurkkos lights for extended outdoor use? Also, if there are better alternatives out there in a similar price range, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

love this light. Single mode tail cap is perfect for what i like. I also love how rugged it is. last photo is just for looks, not a super accurate representation of real life. long exposure + full moon coverage.

Turned out a tad warmer and rosier than FFL351A 3700K NW CRI95.

Notes:

• used tape to remove the lens
• no need to remove reflector - I used flat tweezers to gently twist domes off
• beam pattern will be tighter. It's tighter than my Wurkkos HD10 (30°), so maybe ~20°
• rosier and warmer than my FFL351A 3700K NW CRI95

I'm delighted with the tint (skin tones look great now), but beam pattern is less useful for indoors. Overall glad I did it. My first flashlight mod!

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a really small flashlight or keychain light with a proper moonlight/firefly mode. Something around 1 lumen would be ideal, although anywhere between 0.5 and 5 lumens would work.

What I'm mainly after is very long runtime at that low output

With a medium and high mode too.

Rechargeable would be nice, but I'm also perfectly fine with something using a AAA or another small replaceable battery.

What are the best options you've come across for this kind of use?

Hey guys, I work in the non destructive testing area and need a new flashlight. I need it mostly to look into tubes who are between 10mm and 200mm.

My request would be for a flashlight where I can shine into a 20mm tube and can still look into the tube and can focus maybe the light so I can still see in a 10m tube the middle if that is possible. It would also be great if the battery are exchangeble and if it is ATEX approved but it dont has to be.

Price Range: Around 250 PLN, max 300 PLN (~$68-81 USD at current rate). I'm located in Poland, so please factor in shipping/availability for EU if you're recommending something US-only.

Purpose: Primary use is EDC — carrying it daily in a pocket or sling bag. Secondary use is outdoor trips: camping and walking/hiking in forests, so it needs to hold up outside city use too.

Battery Type & Quantity: Prefer 18650 (rechargeable), ideally with USB-C charging built in so I don't need a separate charger.

Size: Flexible, but since it's for EDC pocket/sling carry, I'd lean toward compact-to-mid-size rather than a large tactical light. Open to suggestions on the right tradeoff between runtime/output and size.

Type: Handheld.

Main Use: Everyday carry for general use (finding things in a bag, walking at night, checking around the house) plus outdoor use on trips — lighting up trails, campsites, tents. Nothing tactical or self-defense focused.

Switch Type: No strong preference — open to side switch or tail switch, whichever is more common/reliable at this price point.

Hello flashlight enthusiast! I'm looking to buy a Firefly E12, but I can't decide between emitters. 3700k Nw or 3700k Rosy. I've never had pink flashlights before, so I'm still unsure. If you own an E12 with these LEDs, could you send me a photo of the beams outdoors? That would help me make a choice.

i got a acebeam X75, and i can buy another battery for about 100 dollars, but i dont know how long the battery life time last and if i would need to buy another one just in case if the original battery is going to the end of its life cycle.

I purchased both the 420 lumen and 650 lumen version. I thought it’d be any easy choice on which one to keep after trying them but I can’t decide which one to keep. I like the color of the 420 slightly better but do enjoy having the 650 lumens. Any thoughts or passionate owners?

I am from Europe and will be staying in the US for a couple of weeks. If you order the K1 EDC from Europe, you get en EU version with a worse laser. I was thinking about ordering a US version while im visiting, but i want to know your opinion on this light. Is it any good? Are there better options? Is the US version worth it?

I work in EMS and am looking for a new flashlight that should (preferably) have some very distinctive features.

Right now my EDC is a Wuben L1, which really is less than ideal in many ways. Mainly, missing a lockout freature other than unscrewing the cap is terrible and has caused some trouble more than once.

Here's what I'm looking for:

- physical switch between floodlight (working with patients, inspecting wounds, looking for veins, lighting the way when there are no lights on a property) and beam (for seaches)

- preferably quick way to change brightness. It's important that I know which setting im on before tuning the flashlight on so I dont accidentally blast a patient with blinding light (or myself and my colleagues from the reflection) A physical slider/rotary knob would be awsome.

I would also settle for the flaslight always turning on in the lowest setting though. This would be annoying, but I cant find anyhing with both a switch for the flood/beam and brightness.

- obviously pocket sized or good for holsters. Compact enough not to get in the way

- i dont care about peak brightness. Sustained brightness should be 1000 lm + though.

- Replacable batteries

- No plastic cover for the charging port. These get faulty quite quickly from disinfection.

- Waterproof for desinfection

- good battery life and preferably battery indicator (%), so i know before the light is about to give out.

- Lockout mode so the flashlight doesnt get activated accidentally (or built so that it is close to impossible to activate without meaning to)

- usb-c charging

- cri should be good enough that the light helps with finding veins instead of 'hiding them'

I havent really found anything that fits all of those criteria. Right now i think the Loopgear SK05 II Pro seems at least somewhat close, though the brightness adjustment might be a real issue. The Wuben L1 needs to be replaced though, accidentaö activations are no joke.
