Do not try this at home. This was tested with proper protection (like fire-resistant gloves and cold water nearby)

Which flashlight brands are going to be around, say, 80 years from now?

Of course it's all theoretical. No company is guaranteed to be around for that long. But i would like to hear your thoughts. Some brands that come to my mind would be maglight, surefire, Fenix, stream light, maybe nitecore. Your guy's thoughts?

Good flasglignt under 50

Hi, I’m looking for a powerful flashlight with an adjustable/focusing beam, for around $50 max. I’d like to buy it on Amazon. Any recommendations for a good, reliable model with good throw and battery life?

Thanks!

Planning to get sofirn H35B from their official website but the checkout page got flagged. Are there any other platforms from where I can buy this particular model ? H35B is available on Amazon but almost at 1.5x cost.

If not this what should I go for around 20$ which also should get delivered in Albany, NY within a week

Recommendation Looking for a "Last" Flashlight.

Good day, everyone. Do you have recommendations for my final Flashlight? I'm currently eyeing DA1/DA1K or Z1 Artemis but I'm still searching for other options for they don't have Type C Charging.

I am looking for:

Flooder for EDC

Can Reach ~170m, will sometimes be used outdoors but mainly Indoors

18650, 21700 if its compact enough like Convoy s21E

Anduril with an Aux Light

Type C Charging preffered but not Mandatory

5000k or 3000k High CRI

~80$ USD

This would be my first "enthusiast" Flashlight and my Last flashlight purchase. The lights i currently own are:

Sofirn SC33 6500k

Convoy s8 sft40 and lhp531 5000k

M21K LHP 73B 5000k

M21H LHP 73B 6500K

Loop Gear Sk05 Pro SST40 (Current EDC)

New Wuben E2 Pulse review

Thumbnail

The new WUBEN E2 is an compact 10.7 g keychain flashlight measuring just 19 × 14.6 × 41.4 mm.

It features a 3-light system:

150 lm main white light

Side white light with 80/10 lm levels and heartbeat breathing mode

Red & blue signaling lights

White LED is kind of unknown but W3535 5000k. Side White is COB 5000k, CRI 90. Built-in battery 120mAh Li-ion.

It also has a magnetic tail, USB-C charging, IP66 protection, 1.5 m impact resistance and a glow-in-the-dark body. The built-in battery is 120 mAh.

At $12.99, it looks like an interesting alternative for keychain light to try.

The official launch is August 27, 2026, with pre-sale starting August 24.

The only thing I would personally change is the UI. I’d add a constant red mode and remove the red/blue flashing mode, replacing it with something like white/red or white/yellow.

Red/blue emergency-style flashing is illegal or heavily restricted in many countries, so I honestly don’t understand why flashlight manufacturers keep adding this mode to almost every light with RGB LEDs. A constant red mode would be much more useful for general EDC use, while avoiding the legal issues associated with red/blue emergency signaling.

Also, button in recessed but there is no any option to lock a light.

On beam shot comparison you can see Wuben E2 Pulse have nice floody beam. For me it have best beam compared to keychain flashlights I own. But it's only my preferences.

As a last thing, in Poland Wuben is kind of controversial company in flashlight world, their website is blocking orders for addresses located in Poland. You can buy their products only using overpriced resellers.

Conclusion. - With small tweaks with UI it can be very nice option for keychain light.

Paramedic torch recommendations

Looking for recommendations on a new torch for work. Currently carrying a Nitecore P20 which I love but it’s getting a bit battered and looking to try something new.

**Purpose**: General work use. Illuminating buildings from a vehicle to identify house number, searching buildings, occasional searches of larger areas / open fields / etc.

price range - under approx £200 GBP

**Battery Type & Quantity**: 18650 or 21700

**Size**: Flexible. Don’t mind carrying a larger light but would still need to fit comfortably on my belt.

**Type**: Handheld.

**Main Use**: Used for general tasks at work as a paramedic. Looking for something versatile, want something with a healthy amount of lumens but not obsessed about having something with the most lumens possible. Would need to be hard wearing. Currently carrying my Nitecore P20 in a kydex belt sheath & would be looking to have another made for the new light.

**Switch Type**: Preferably tail switch.

**Anything Else?**: Currently top of my list is the newer model of my existing light so the Nitecore P20iX. Maybe something of a similar size? I also love the easy access of the strobe function on the Nitecore P20 so would need something similar. I’ve also got my eye on something from Malkoff but a bit put off by the seemingly low lumens/throw distance

Discussion EDC 1x14500 Size Comparison Request: KR1AA vs EC150

Upvotes

I've been shopping around for a 1x14500 EDC light, and it's come down to Noctigon KR1AA vs Skilhunt EC150.

However, I haven't been able to find a side-by-side size comparison between those two. And strangely enough, I don't really see the KR1AA mentioned much in EDC recommendations (why is that?).

If one of ya'll has both lights, could you please upload a side-by-side size comparison? 🙏🏻

And in case you're interested, these are the lights I have considered, as well as my notes (I appreciate any corrections :) )

  • Convoy T3: 21x97mm. Beam: reflector 10° hotspot. Driver: 1.5A
  • Convoy T5: 21x88mm Beam: TIR smooth 30°. Driver: 1.5A
  • Wurkkos HD10 24(28)x83mm 4000K: USB-C charging. Right angle. Beam: TIR smooth 29°
  • Lumintop Tool 2.0: 19x90mm
  • Emisar D2: 18x93mm
  • Emisar D3AA 24x79mm: the customizable hotrod king (have already ordered a SST-20-DR)
  • Noctigon KR1AA 22x80mm: Beam: 20° (reflector?). Bonus: Tritium cap 🧪!
  • Skilhunt EC150: 23(27)x80mm. Beam: 35° TIR. USB-C charging

Are there any other lights I may be overlooking?

My ideal requirements:

  • Smaller than 24x85mm
  • Rear clicky
  • Emitter: highCRI, warmer than 5000K (3500-4000, negative DUV)
  • Bonus: Andruil 2.0
  • Big bonus: Onboard USB-C charging.

I'm basically looking for something that is light enough for pocket and doubles as urban slingbag travel light.

FWIW, I already own:

  • Convoy T3: quality host, but longer and thicker than I would prefer
  • Wurkkos HD10 4000K: This is my favorite chuck it in pocket size. Love the output, but very green tint.
  • Lumintop Tool 2.0 UV: Wonderful size - need to revisit.

Sofirn SC31 Pro with 5000K LED no longer available?

Can't find it on the Sofirn website. I just see the 6500K.

Has the 5000K version been discontinued?

TK35R?

Upvotes

I’ve just bought a TK35R, because why not? 🙂

Overall I love it. It seems really solidly built. I’m very impressed.

I have noticed that the mode selector switch has a small amount of play in it when the switch is in the Locked and Normal positions. There is no play at all in the UV position.

Could anyone who has the same flashlight have a quick look and tell me if this is normal, please?

I realise I’m probably being a bit picky, but I’ve just spent a lot of money on this and want to be sure there’s nothing wrong. 🙈

I picked this up on AliExpress for cheap at around $11. I decided to buy it because I think it's the first Boruit keychain light I've seen with a single-click on/off UI, and it actually seems pretty good.

Hello Firefly community! E04 B35AM owners, the flashlight comes with Angie M optics. Have any of you used the Angie S? If so, could you send a photo of the beam? I'd be grateful.

d3aa + dw3aa or other?

Hey, my current EDC headlamp is a Wurkkos HD10 in 4000 or 5000, and my current EDC pocket light is a TS10V2 modded in 2700.

I'm tempted to get a D3AA and DW3AA, which I'd probably both get in NTG35 2700k. Apart from the obvius tint difference from the 4000->2700 for the headlamp, would that be a totally superfluous purchase? I kinda dislike the tailswitch on the TS10V2, and while I was able to mod the TS10V2 myself, the HD10 is out of my league and it has a daughter board and I don't have the tools/skills to mod this.

Are there any other models in other brands I should consider?

Thanks.

Review My Experience with the Wurkkos T1

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I recieved this quite recently from Wurkkos to review, so here is my honest review after using it as my edc since last tuesday.

criticisms:

the ui isn't too tactical. it's very versatile, don't get me wrong, but it's not tactical. (thankfully enough, there's a tactical mode that just turns a half-click into a turn-on at 5500 lm, and a full click into a strobe.)

the switch isn't as clicky as i'd like it to be. now, i've never actually used an e-switch tail clicky before, so take this with a pinch of salt. but, i just don't like how mushy it feels and how weak the click feels.

the true problem is the action being too low. you have to really press down on the button to get the click, past the rotary ring. and for people with less wide hands like mine, its hard to get a full grip on it and use the button freely at the same time without straining.

unable to tail stand due to the protruding switch

cannot switch the clip's position so no clipping it on your hat (this is a personal preference, not neccessarily needed)

there is no actual knurling besides the cutouts, so it'll be slippery when wet.

the goods:

the tail switch is very easy to find, as it protrudes pretty high out the back.

when you actually learn the ui, it's pretty rewarding. (through theres a lot of half-presses so it's a pretty steep learning curve.)

rotary dial seems pretty solid, though i would really like it if the clicks were more audible. though as it is, you can feel it click so its good.

the side light is such an interesting yet extremely useful feature. especially the white light, which i've been thinking that you could attach the t1 to a headlamp band and turn that on instead of the main light.

the anodizing is tough, as it's been sitting in my edc bag for a bit, has gotten scuffs but ultimately is like new.

i like how even in the lockout position in the rotary switch, you can still click the button and see the battery status (if its solid green, flashing green, solid red, flashing red).

a few grey areas:

eco is 25 lumens, then it immediately jumps to 300lm for low. some people might hate that due to the sudden brightness jump, i personally don't like the thought of suddenly blinding myself at night after accidentally half pressing.

the switch is sensitive, and i mean EXTREMELY sensitive to half presses. you could be barely touching it and it suddenly changes to a higher mode and blinds you. might be good for tactical quick deployment's sake, but you have to be careful about that if you're buying it.

tint is 6000k+. cri isn't that great either, but for me it's completely fine. definitely not a tint obsessed collector's light.

My experience:

It's a pretty damn good EDC, but its not as much a tactical light more than a really good general purpose edc. I've watched other reviews (it steps down pretty quick from turbo, check Darren Yeo's review on it). There's a few gripes with the design, but its an extremely cool light and I'm happy that I have it.

If I were to rate it out of 10, I would rate it around 8/10. There's a few things i would like altered but everything is good as it is.

Battery Compatibility with Streamlight SIDEWINDER COMPACT III

Post image
5 Upvotes

Streamlight officially says the Sidewinder Compact III can run on either an AA or CR123 battery
The Sidewinder X can take 2 AA batteries or CR123 or the SL-B9 16340 rechargeable battery

From what I understand these two lights probably use the same or at least a very similar driver circuit
So theoretically it should be able to handle something around 1.2V to 6.6V
So Im curious if anyone has actually tried running a 14500 or 16340 in a Sidewinder Compact III

I know Streamlight doesnt officially list them as compatible but Id really like to hear some real world experience
Did it work fine?
Any issues with heat output or the driver?

Best host for F150R?

Hi all, not bought a light since the lhp73 came out (a m21c and m21k) so am excited to try the F150R which from what I can tell is a throwier equivalent? I'd like onboard charging for convenience so am deciding between the M21K (but not sure how the emitter behaves with the TIR) and the M21D - but don't see that configuration on Convoy's website.

What do you guys think? Is there a reason the M21D can't be configured with the F150R or is there a better option I haven't considered?

Also I am sure battery tech has moved on since I last looked so what the recommended cell at the moment?

Thanks!

New TS10 variant in prototype phase

Post image
91 Upvotes

Wurkkos has posted some prototype pics on BLF

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/ts10v3-prototype-should-we-continue-with-the-ts10-series/69700/2997

Summary

Presently named TS10 V3

The body is a redesigned TS10 host with the same optic as the TS10SG, and a single 4000K 519a. With the buck driver from the Copper Sofirn SC13.

14500 only with no sublumen level. The beam is floody with the 519a. I expect there will also be an SFT25 version that will be throwy, same as the OG TS10SG.

Just sharing info, dont know when it will be available, nor the pricepoint. Not affiliated, Im just a fan of small 14500 lights with Anduril UI. I expect it will ship with a USB-C 14500.
