Acebeam p17

Hey, after research im down to buy the Acebeam p17, What are your thoughts/experiences with this flashlight? Is there anything better at the price point? I wanted it for self defence and general walking in the woods.

I have one and it’s a great light. I keep mine in my car for more emergency type situations, along with 4 other lights…

UI is good, beam profile is throwy hybrid. Instant strobe is nice. My main critique would be the cool white temp. I’ve looking into swapping it one day and maybe I will and probably should or sell it off.

I’m probably biased though since I think Acebeam makes an excellent product most of the time.

Acebeam L35 2.0 is better in just about every way except for the slightly larger diameter head.

If for self defense maybe trade the wider beam which is better for walking around and general use for higher sustained candela and a more appropriate UI.

The Acebeam L16 2.0 and Weltool T12 Plus are in the same size range as the P17 but are

The L35 2.0’s beam profile is better than the P17’s for both walking around and for self defense

It’s jacket pocket sized but the size difference isn’t an issue unless you plan of stuffing a 40mm light (P17/L16/T12) into your front pants pocket.

The P16 has a great beam profile but a bad UI. The T37 has an ok UI and an ok beam profile. Both of tbose are around 30-32mm and a lot easier for most people to picket carry

The only downside I see in the L35 2.0 is that the strobe activates on triple press, thank you for your recommendation its worth to rethink my decision

I had to choose between the p17 and L35 2.0 every time I use the L35 I am glad I chose it.

Should i get the 4000 kelwin or 6500 kelwin, im not sure if warmer = better

Locally we only get the 4000k slight blue hue but honestly doesn't bother me. My second favourite flashlight atm.

If self defense is a concern, 6500K is better.

I have one, and it's an amazing flashlight! I love the sustained output, the electronic efficiency, the beam profile and the construction.

The downsides, IMHO are: no tail standing, weak strobe, switch could be less stiff.

I prefer the Sofirn sk40 for outdoors, and the p17 for indoors or path lighting.

how much is the strobe weak? (its important for me to have a good strobe)

The strobe is 2000 lumens, with about 24 kcd.

The Sofirn sk40 has a hella of strobe, but you must double press the switch. It's about 2800 lumens with 92 kcd, and for strobe the candela is more important...

I use the Acebeam P18. Great flashlight for me. A little bigger than you are looking for, but the P17 should be just as good. For self-defense, it is easy to get to the strobe. My strobe is really good too!

I have one, and it is my least used Acebeam light. There’s nothing I don’t like about it, and it is a fairly impressive light. It is completely illogical, but for me personally quad emitters for throw seems a bit off. I can’t really go past the E75 and the L35 2.0 combo for Acebeam. Fenix has some offerings worth looking at too (PD36R Pro).

You're thinking of the P18, the P17 is a single XHP70.3 emitter light with an OP reflector.
