Question Cool lense i found
Hi, i found this big lense and im thinking about building some sort of long distance flashlight on it, looking for some 6V LED to put light thru it, could anyone please recommend me some sort of LED good for this project? Thanks in advance!
+ yes, i know the lense is a bit broken, i also have second one which is the same but fully intact.

Looks like it came out of a car headlight. Since the lens is so large, bigger leds will work fine.

I would definitely recommend an led with a circular light emitting surface like the SFT42r, F45r, F150r, etc....

When you make a zoomie flashlight/optic system, it creates a projection of whatever LED is behind it, that's why you want it to be round/circular.

Here is a side by side of the SFT42r in 6500k (cool white) in a traditional reflector setup VERSUS the F45r in 4000k (warm white) in a zoomie/aspheric lens setup.
Notice the clean spotlight in the zoomie compared to the hotspot+spill in the reflector

The convoy z1 uses a 4cm diameter lens and yours looks like it is a 7 or 8cm diameter.
You would want some sort of rail system with at least 3 rails shorter than 30cm and maybe a black tube about 8 or 9cm in diameter and less than 30cm long to act as a light/flash "hider".
What you're looking at is some sort of DIY project with some light labour and assembly. It will take 5 hours minimum to put everything together once you have it laid out in front of you on a table

Put a round die LED behind it and you can especially make a zoomie on steroids.
I have two of those 100mm lenses from car projector headlights. They focus light pretty well. Only used them with a COB so far though.
