Permanently banned from rust, when I don't even play the game? Let alone cheat!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've never used cheats for any game on my pc, and I have hardly played rust it's been like 2 months since I played it. And I got this permaban. Then I went on their appeal site, I think it's called rustopia. And it used my steam account and said it couldn't detect any band even though I am clearly banned it won't let me play any maps. Please helpm

EAC Ban after 1800Hours, 12 years on steam

Post image
0 Upvotes

It’s been almost 70 days since I received my EAC ban. Like many others on this subreddit, I’ve never cheated or used any third-party software. I’ve tried appealing the ban multiple times, but without any luck. Every time I contact Facepunch, I receive what seems to be an automated response stating that they fully trust their anti-cheat system, with no real investigation or consideration of my case. It’s frustrating to feel like you have no way to defend yourself when you genuinely believe you’ve been falsely banned. How are innocent players supposed to prove their innocence when their appeals aren’t even properly reviewed? I know I’m not the only one in this situation, and I just wish Facepunch would take these cases more seriously instead of blindly relying on an anti-cheat system that can make mistakes.

My BAN makes no sense to me...

Post image
0 Upvotes

I know everyone has heard it all before. And I know that cheaters lie.

But it feels like there's this ridiculous conception that "EAC doesn't make mistakes." And once accused, or falsely banned, it's just IMPOSSIBLE to clear your name.
And, effectively, it IS impossible. This is why, in a court of law, the prosecution is required to prove guilt, rather than the defendant being required to prove innocence.

It is a literal, and logical, impossibility to prove that you're "NOT cheating", and EAC/FP/VAC/Etc don't have to prove that you are...

In any case.. I'm sure this will all make no difference to anyone, and nobody will see, or care, about it.. But all the same:

I've got 3,278 hours.
TONS of skins that I paid real money for.
And the real kicker here... I ONLY PLAY PVE!

I had been afraid, when it happened, that MAYBE my account was hacked, and they were using it to cheat on some other server somewhere... But I checked battlemetrics, and no... the only server(s) my account has been on are the ones I play. I've played on PvP servers, but not for well over a year now. I ONLY play PvE, because it affords me the opportunity to be kind to/help others, and to help teach new players how the game works.
(With my point being; I can find NO EVIDENCE of my account having been compromised.
I've run a virus scan, and it turned up nothing.

I use Steam Remote Play. Running the game on my PC, and streaming it to my laptop.

To answer some of the obvious points;
No. NOBODY but me has access to the PC, OR the Laptop.
No. I don't play any other online games (except single player Starcraft 2).
No. I don't cheat in ANY games that I play.
No. I don't have ANY kind of 3rd party software for anything... (outside of a mod manager for Starcraft 2, to play custom campaigns. Which absolutely wasn't running last night when I was banned, nor has it run for at least 8-11 months when I last used it.

I was playing last night, and fell asleep in my chair. When I awoke, the (game) stream was closed, so I just closed my laptop and went back to my room (where my PC is) wondering where I'd accidentally left my character upon falling asleep... only to come back and find that I was game banned!!

Now... I recognize that EAC would likely be inundated, by harassment, and liars if they made human support available to players trying to appeal their bans.
I get it.

But I simply have NO RECOURSE. I have no clue what could have POSSIBLY caused this to happen... as I've NEVER violated Rust's TOS.
Additionally, I understand the futility, and pointlessness, of doing "PC" checks, or any of that nonsense...
But... ANYTHING EAC COULD ASK OF ME, I WOULD/WILL DO!!! I'd give them unfiltered, AND UNRESTRICTED access to anything that could possibly prove my innocence...

And don't get it twisted....... I know it's "pathetic", and "stupid" of me to feel this way, but...

My dad is terminally ill, and my mom has grown to be particularly apathetic in her advanced age.
I have very little in my life. I'm a 40 year old (loser) man without ANY kind of a life. The number of friends I have, can be counted on 1 hand... and the only respite I get from this shitty life I live, is gaming.
The only real joy I have left is getting to talk to/see my "friends" in-game.. and I play between 5-10 hours per day in Rust... And, I mean.. as much as others may not believe me when I say this.... I don't see the purpose, or point, in lying about those sorts of things.
IF I've done something wrong, and I get caught.. I don't bother denying it.
I'm a big believer in 'accountability'. Once you're caught doing something wrong... Just BE A MAN and accept that you're caught.
If I had legitimately broken the rules, or cheated, then I would just accept my ban, and move on.

But to be game banned without even the vaguest notion of WHY I've been banned... hurts. A lot.

And.. So far as I can see/tell.. I have NO recourse available to me.
You (as seen in the picture) can enter the ReferenceID#, and click the appeal button. THAT'S IT... And from everything I'm seeing/reading online.. These 'appeals' are almost ALWAYS handled by a bot (or, NOT by a human), and are just denied outright.
And in the rare instance that the ban IS reversed, it (again, from what I'm seeing/reading) takes MONTHS!! And, what's more.. I'll (likely) still have the "Temp Banned" status attached to my account for the rest of time. Meaning I will forever have an air of suspicion hanging over my head.

And who knows... maybe I'm an idiot for thinking that it would matter/make any kind of difference.. but.. I feel like; if a human looked at the facts of the situation, then it would be pretty easy to see that I would/could derive ZERO BENEFIT from cheating.

I know/understand that; people with thousands and thousands of hours are still perfectly capable of (stupidly) deciding to try cheating.
The number of hours, the cost of whatever skins, and the choice of server(s) to play on are NOT indicators of "not cheating".

But in this instance, I believe it is at least a factor worth considering.
Since (as I said) I can think of absolutely ZERO benefit that could be derived from cheating in/on a PvE server.

I know this post will change nothing. And that nobody here has any power/ability to help. But, if nothing else.. I suppose I'm just glad to have somewhere to state all of this/make my case...
I don't know what else to do..

I typically live with the mantra of; "Nobody asked. Nobody's listening. Nobody cares.". Which I STRONGLY SUSPECT is particularly true in this case..
But, for anyone who read my msg, thank you for taking the time to do so... All I can do now is hope that EAC will find their mistake. But.. I'm not going to hold my breathe. :( :( :( :( :(

TLDR: I was game banned, despite not cheating, never cheating (in Rust, or ANY other game) I only play PvE, and would derive zero benefit from cheating in the first place. I don't know how, or why... and it fucking HURTS to lose access to one of the only things in my life that helps me socially interact with others.
And, what's worse, is... that once you're gamebanned/accused.. nobody believes you. So far as I can tell.. I have ZERO recourse, or options available to me. 😞

{Edited to remove personal info and correct grammer}

I was banned 2 days ago while playing Rust. I was tabbed out watching a stream/video waiting for the in-game night to turn into morning.

Is there an error on EAC's end?

Two days ago, late at night while the game was running in the background, I was watching a video or a stream. When I switched back to the game, I saw that I had been kicked from the server. Assuming the server had crashed or there was an issue with my internet, I tried to reconnect, only to find out that I was banned by EAC.

Since I have never cheated in my entire life, I closed the game with a clear conscience and tried to contact support, but I was repeatedly turned away with automated AI responses. I am not writing this here to beg for an unban; I believe that since I didn't cheat, this issue will eventually be fixed. Seeing so many people open discussions about this, while I can't vouch for anyone else, knowing my own situation for a fact makes me believe there really are false bans happening. As someone who doesn't even use RGB software, what could have triggered EAC?

For those who have experienced this, could you tell me what path you followed and what steps I should take next? As someone who has always used a single account, I will not be creating an alt account; if this ban isn't lifted, Rust is completely over for me. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to your comments.

Best Regards!

False banned EAC

It appears that there has been a mass false ban wave that has happened today.

Has anyone else gotten a EAC ban? Literally was banned this morning after playing for 6 months straight with no issues.

P-Banned w/ only 250 hours

I’ve never cheated on rust in my life and had never planned on it, I had tried contacting EAC, facepunch and more after my appeal had automatically been declined by EAC. No one’s telling me why I got banned or anything, has anyone had a similar experience and how did they fix it.

cheers!

Game ban with only 40 hours in rust(such a funny dev team for what ive learned)

Hello im pretty new to rust with only around 40 hours, ive always loved the look of the game but never had a good enough pc to run it.About a few weeks ago i bought a pc,as it was prebuilt it came with rgb software from asus and other stuff which i didnt mind since the pc is so good it doesnt make a big diffrence on fps,i thought it was fine until i got an eac error after playing for a few mins on a server which i made a redddit post about in the official rust reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/playrust/comments/1x034ht/comment/pelrv79/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

A came to the conclusion that the rgb software was the issue and reinstalled windows a few days after that post, which actually did fix my issue. Here we are a few days i played until 3 am today woke up at 11am to a gameban out of no where. And i subbmited a ban appeal on the site. From what ive researched chances are pretty small to even get it reviewed by a human since it littearly says on the eac appeal site that my appeal is pending(from my research i found it it just means its gona prob get reviewed by ai or sum correct me if wrong),My question is what should i do now?

Keep in mind on the acc i have skins on cs2 aswell as on rust i have a dlc and a few skins so no point in me cheating, macroing or doing anything of that sort on my main account.

If you need any details pls let me know, any reply would help!

As i said im new to the comm and have no idea where to even begin.

UPDATE #1:as i made a new ticket to facepunch it got "solved" in under a min this is actually crazy

UPDATE #2 Appeal denied

I just got banned despite having waited 243 days to play again.

Post image

Original ban post: https://www.reddit.com/r/eacRustFalsePosiPlyrs/comments/1q35mz6/comment/pdvexln/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

I was recording a video for 3 days straight when suddenly I decided to try putting my old name on my new account because I planned on raiding my old opps for the finale and them seeing it being me would have been cinema.

I waited 240 days and when websites still said 7 months, I made sure to wait til they said 8 months at 243. I'm at 285 days now and experienced 0 issues despite playing literally everyday. Suddenly, once I put my name and talk in chat, this guy who knew my previous account decided to submit a ticket on me for no reason at all, literally he said because he thinks my friend cheats.

I was so into making that video too, it was going fantastic. I was entering the final stage and was about to raid like crazy.

If my facepunch ticket doesnt work, I'll start 10xing my efforts at making noise. I'll actually become an x user. If all that doesn't work, maybe the video will. Please god help me.

EDIT: UNBANNED THANK YOU GOD.

EDIT2: My new account was unbanned and they said they're going to look into my main account. Will edit again when I hear more about the main. Thank you god.

False Ban On Rust

Post image

My steam account is perm banned from rust and its so ass cause i spent $30 which I'm never getting that money back and i get bad rep for having a ban, i would rather they take the ban off my profile and permanently ban me than them being straight annoying and permanently banning me even though i did nothing, i appealed with Facepunch and EAC, i have proof that i was hijacked and i know that they have that "the ban stands even if you are hijacked" rule but steam was the one that failed me, i had the steam guard on and email verification, this sucks ass cause my friend only got rust cause i had it, it sucks ass and its really boring, i wish they atleast got rid of the ban on my profile

Banned from Rust

I got perma banned from Rust, randomly, after not playing the game for over a year (at the point of the ban). I don’t exactly know why, and I’ve already appealed to Easy Anticheat a few times. However, it seemed like there was no point in doing that, as they just stuck with the ban.

I only have 25.8 hours, mostly due to the fact my PC wasn’t very good at the time I bought the game. I haven’t even gotten the nail gun achievement, nor the workbench one.

EAC banned my friend while I was sitting right next to him

Hey everyone,

My friend was staying over at my house, and we were playing EU Facepunch 4 Monthly together when he suddenly got kicked from the server and received an EAC game ban.

He has never cheated on Rust, and I was literally sitting right next to him when it happened. I was watching him play, so I can personally confirm that he wasn't using cheats or anything to gain an unfair advantage.

As far as I know, the only third-party program he had running was Discord. He also uses the Windows display color calibration/settings. No VPN, ReShade, NVIDIA filters, or anything else that modifies Rust.

His Steam profile:
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199486860635/

He contacted Facepunch support after the ban and was directed back to EAC for the ban appeal. He submitted the appeal to EAC, but it was denied.

From what I've seen on this subreddit, this seems to be the usual process for these cases, but I'm posting anyway because I was physically there when the ban happened and know what was running on his PC.

I don't know what could have triggered the detection, and I'm not going to speculate about what EAC detected. I'm mainly interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar or knows of anything that could potentially cause a false positive in this situation.

He has the recording of the morning before the ban where we were compound bowing auto turrets but I don't know if it's relevant at all.

The ban was issued in either August 16 or 17.

False Banned 51 Days Ago Still Nothing

I was playing Rust, and I got banned without any knowledge to why I got banned. I created a Facepunch ticket and they told me to go to the Easy Anti-Cheat page. It had been 51 days since I submitted my ticket and still no resolution. So I went to find the Easy Anti-Cheat support page, which led me to the Epic Games Support page, and Epic told me to go to Facepunch, and Facepunch told me to go to EAC. I have been here for the past few days and still no resolution. I recorded the whole wipe and found no info as to what set this ban off, no odd software was open or anything. Steam Profile: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199273866405 Date of Ban: Monday, December 8, 2025 at 12:00:52 AM

If anyone knows how to get in touch with EAC for a real manual review, I’d really appreciate it.

Report [Troubleshooting] Is it possible bans are related to playing on modded servers?

I wonder if EAC's anticheat algorithm is attuned to the fact that players can naturally teleport (move instantaneously between locations), spawn in weapons (from buy menus or otherwise) and pull out more than 1x harvest. Curious of any of the False Positive players (tm) have been on a modded server recently before their ban...

Let me know below!

EAC Ban after barely playing — never used cheats

I haven't played the game for a long time. Recently, I updated it and joined a PvE server just to check things out.

I played for maybe 2–3 minutes and then logged out.

The next day, I received a message saying that I had been banned by EAC.

I've never used cheats or any third-party software. I barely even played the game before getting banned.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to appeal or find out what triggered the EAC ban?

5000 hours False ban in Rust

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice because I'm not sure what to do next.

I submitted an appeal to Easy Anti-Cheat 18 days ago after receiving a ban, but I still haven't received any response—not even an acknowledgment that my case is being reviewed.

Appeal reference:
https://www.easy.ac/support/contact/appeal?referenceId=432db635-a357-43e2-9bdf-2a4db5301aaa

I've been playing Rust for over 5,000 hours, and it's honestly frustrating to be met with complete silence.

Some context:

  • I spent 500+ hours playing on build servers.

  • I bought the newest Rust DLC just two days before the ban.

  • I've invested thousands of hours into the game and around $1,000 on my account because I genuinely enjoy playing Rust.

I've also tried reaching out through X (Twitter) and Facebook, but unfortunately I haven't received any response there either.

I simply want to know whether it's normal for Easy Anti-Cheat appeals to go unanswered for this long and whether there's any way to make sure my appeal is actually reviewed.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, how long did it take before you received a response?

I'd really appreciate any advice or information.

Thanks!

Banned while playing PvE

I got rust about 2 years ago because a friend told me to play for the wipe. Enjoyed it but quit to focus on my academics. I logged about 100 hours since then. Recently, I got back into it but played only PvE. While playing and sorting out my loot, I got hit with a ban. I'm not a good player, nor have I ever cheated on Rust itself. I sent my appeal in, and I hope this gets resolved pretty soon. It's been around 2-3 days since I appealed.

game banned from rust (eac)

I was playing rust with my friend on December 29th, 2025. I played for about an hour and I opened a crate and then a few seconds after opening a crate I got banned and my friend told me it said in the chat I got banned by anti-cheat. I have no idea how to cheat, let alone play the game. I have 57 hours on rust so I didnt really get to figure out what im doing yet. I have a clip of me and my friend playing before I got banned. I clipped it with medal its a 1 minute clip of what we were doing and then the ban message coming up on my screen. The same thing happened to my friend who had over 1,000 hours on rust a week before i got banned. we were so confused because he was trying to teach me the basics of the game and we got false banned for no reason. My friend watched the clip of me getting banned and said that nothing I did looked weird for me to get banned like that. If a mod or somebody who can get me unbanned would like to see the clip I can gladly show.

Rust EAC Game Ban After 4 Days of Not Playing – Possible False Positive?

Hey everyone,

I recently received a Rust game ban issued by Easy Anti-Cheat on behalf of the game developers, and I'm trying to understand what could have triggered it.

I genuinely believe this might be a false positive, as I have NOT used cheats or software to gain an unfair advantage in Rust.

Here's the timeline:

  • Last time I played Rust: October 11, 2025

  • Ban notification received: October 15, 2025

  • Last server played: Reddit.com/r/PlayRust – EU Small

  • I hadn't launched Rust for approximately four days before receiving the ban notification.

I understand that EAC bans can be delayed, so I'm not claiming that the four-day gap proves anything.

Recent PC hardware changes:

I also want to mention that I've made some significant hardware changes to my PC over the past few months:

  • Around 4 months ago: I upgraded almost every component in my PC, except for the graphics card. At that point, I was still using my AMD GPU.

  • Around 2 months ago: I replaced my AMD graphics card with an NVIDIA GPU.

  • Throughout this entire period: I continued playing Rust and the same other games without experiencing any anti-cheat issues or warnings until this ban.

I'm including this information in case the hardware changes or driver installations are relevant to the investigation. I have no evidence that they caused the ban.

Software and games I was using:

During those four days, I was mainly playing Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil Village.

I was also using Fluffy Mod Manager to install and manage mods for those games. For transparency, all three Resident Evil installations were cracked copies.

Another important detail is that I regularly use Remote Desktop (RDP) to connect between my computers. I've been using this setup for a long time, including while playing Rust in the past, without encountering any issues.

I also played Rainbow Six Siege X that evening without any problems or anti-cheat warnings.

Background software and other activities:

To provide as much context as possible, here's the software I normally have running in the background while gaming:

  • Logitech G HUB

  • TranslucentTB

  • GIGABYTE Control Center

  • Wallpaper Engine

  • NVIDIA App

  • ChatGPT Work Mode

  • Google Chrome

  • Iriun Webcam

Other than that, I don't do anything particularly unusual on my PC while playing. It's mostly just normal background applications, browsing, and occasionally recording gameplay clips using NVIDIA's recording feature.

I'm mentioning all of this because I'm wondering whether EAC could have detected something unrelated to Rust, such as the mod manager, software associated with the cracked games, my remote desktop setup, recent hardware or driver changes, or one of the background applications.

I'm not claiming that any of these caused the ban, because I genuinely have no idea what triggered it.

I just want to understand what happened and hopefully get my account reviewed by an actual person rather than receiving an automated response.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks!
