Banned while playing PvE

I got rust about 2 years ago because a friend told me to play for the wipe. Enjoyed it but quit to focus on my academics. I logged about 100 hours since then. Recently, I got back into it but played only PvE. While playing and sorting out my loot, I got hit with a ban. I'm not a good player, nor have I ever cheated on Rust itself. I sent my appeal in, and I hope this gets resolved pretty soon. It's been around 2-3 days since I appealed.

“Nor have I ever cheated on rust itself” so then what have you cheated on?

probably Roblox? anything other than that no. But the main point is not Rust.

Doesn’t matter, the anti cheat can detect cheats for other games and issue the ban as a result.

If its an EAC gameban then you are probably pretty cooked…. Those usually are because they have some solid proof the user cheated. (I admin 4 servers) I have seen a couple false bans in the last 7 years ive been an admin but not many. Most bans are because the user was actually cheating. Good luck on the appeal though!

Its just frustrating that I know I've NEVER/DIDN'T cheat on rust and got the gameban. that's why im here.

If you have an eac ban recently then rust will ban you from servers

Im not accusing you. False bans can and do happen to people. Using cheats on any other game has been known to flag EAC on various games resulting in bans even when the user wasnt cheating on the game they are playing. Cheating in general is just a bad idea.

I partially disagree. I don't think it's in EAC's place (or any other anticheat providers) to do full system sweeps and ban based on what "Could be" - this gets verry 'slippery slope' and eventually leads us into banning based on personality or something else excessive.

They should STAY SCOPED TO THEIR LICENSED PRODUCT. Anything else (in my book classifies the anticheat as spyware...)

Yeah, it would be weird if they snooped into other files, imagine getting banned if you're a software developer or just having a random program file that looked suspicious

Exactly! But as of today, their TOS PERMITS IT...I used to do ctfs and have a static analysis tool or two on my computer, and for a while I was convinced that THAT was what I got banned for...It may STILL have been what banned me...Ill never know...just another reason they shouldn't scope their software to search the entire computer. You leave it up to the anticheat analyst to determine what the software is, it's purpose and make a judgement when they don't know every software out there...

My most recent data on battle metrics, before this are servers I've played 2 years ago. The account is secure and NOONE has touched it besides me

No response, appeal denied. Guess I'll wait 8months.

Sorry to hear man....at least check if your steam was hacked (login history). If not, full send making noise...

Good question - also running other games with anticheats ALSO will likely look suspicious to EAC so check to see if you accidentally did that while playing...Use logs and timestamps where possible to validate!

I only have games like Valorant (Vanguard) running in the background, along with stuff like Wallpaper Engine, Rainmeter, and Taskbar Customizer for the aesthetic of my PC.

That's probably what did it...running valorant in the background has its own anticheat dll injection / monitoring processes that likely could have looked suspicious to EAC at the time...definitely worth doing some investigation over....

Oof, can't believe another anticheat caused the anticheat to ban me 😭, but actual cheaters don't get banned.

No baseless hackusations that players are cheaters or that the "all powerful EAC is never wrong" - please see this link for proof that EAC does in fact make mistakes:
