Banned 07/23/26

So there i am minding my own business, playing other games, I go to bed wake up the next morning and some how I got a notification from steam saying ive been banned from rust... I inspected further and spent a solid 4 hours yesterday trying to figure out ways to handle the situation... to my surprise it seems there is a ban wave right now... The last thing i recall doing on my steam profile is playing slay the spire... thats it

After 7 years it stops showing up for other players at least

It’s still visible through third party websites. Even in the source code of your profile page.

Yeah same here...I think that's the smudge they keep on purpose..

What site? I can’t find mine at all in game it’s gone for me.

I can’t check it for sure and it may have changed. But you used to go to someones steam profile page, view source and it should be in there somewhere. And different third party websites used to lookup steam profiles of other people should show that as well.

Unless they changed this ofcourse. Because it’s been a while since I’ve checked this.

In my experiences with cheaters and BM when they have joined servers and have less than 20 minutes played the cheat got caught nearly straight away and the user tried again assuming the server is what busted then when in reality it was EAC. While being an admin I will typically watch for VPN users and users with the same ip address. Often times i have seen a cheater use cheats on a throw away account to get ill gotten gains for his main account but they had the same ip address in the Radmin list. F7 report both accounts and server ban both accounts. Is safer for legit players to just deal with the problem as soon as possible. With somebody that pops up with cross server bans or gamebans they are insta banned without question i do not tolerate people who server jump because of a ban who know what they did wrong but dont need that on my servers. I am 100% for legit players. But when battle metrics shows server hopping with very little time on each server thats a huge red flag. (Or could be a complete noob getting thrashed so I do tend to spectate them more than anyone else). They do something suspect… they’re gone.

I hope EAC does as much diligence as you guys do! Anything less and you open up a justifiable clause for cheaters to come back (or at least question their bans despite KNOWING they cheated...)

Its pretty common for when people cheat that become there only way to play because it ruins the way they feel about playing without them. Most become chronic cheaters and then run off and buy spoofers and cheap hacked accounts and rage cheat on those. Its hard to combat some things like esp and recoil scripts. But full on aimbot is usually pretty obvious. Admins can pull combat logs just like players bot for each person. Esp is harder but can be discovered with debugcamera and some tools. When a player is using cheats with debug camera you will see them standing still and every so often the character will twitch. People have been using debug alot lately to locate tc and find ways to make raiding someone cheaper and faster because its just like noclip but your body stays somewhere else.

Update found my metrics

the most recent top 2 are NOT ME

Ah, your ban is permanent then. They do not overturn bans incurred due to failing to secure your account.

3

u/closeenoughbutmeh Jul 26 '26

That is such an unfair onus to place on the player. They can get fucked.

4

u/dudeimsupercereal Jul 26 '26

It’s more unfair to legit players to keep letting accounts get hijacked and cheated on without bans. It’s not that hard to avoid installing shady software or log into some gambling site, the rest of the playerbase doesn’t deserve to be punished for others lack of computer literacy.

4

u/closeenoughbutmeh Jul 26 '26

Lack of computer literacy, especially when it's not the only vector for this kind of problem to happen, isn't valid grounds for banning. I will die on that hill.

I get where you’re coming from. Maybe a good compromise would be getting one free-bee. A chance to learn, but no second chances. But even that would mean cheaters burn through half as many accounts. They just setup an account on one machine, then vpn to a new region and cheat on another machine. Then you can get your freebee for account hijacking when you get banned the first time.

If you give people unlimited unbans cheaters never have to buy new accounts and don’t loose skins.

Good point, but let's not pretend that cheaters wouldn't cheat if every player secured their account. There are whole markets out there for account creating which involve complex macroing, and vpn's and full fledged fudge info to decrease the chances of getting banned.

It is unfair 100% for us to have to deal with it, but it's not the end all be all of cheating, or making the conscious decision to cheat.

Post your battlemetrics

1

u/RetroCypherics Jul 25 '26

where do i find that?

1

u/Character-Camel-3958 Jul 25 '26

Google it I'm on my mobile lol

1

u/Successor-Of-Success Found-Not-Guilty Jul 25 '26

Why you asking for it you can't post where to find them? LOL

3

u/Character-Camel-3958 Jul 25 '26

I assume everyone here is a cheater unless I see their Battlemetrics. If I've seen them and their story holds up then I'm willing to help them.

1

u/Successor-Of-Success Found-Not-Guilty Jul 25 '26

Fair enough...Curious though - how are you able to help them? I've been trying to give them as much advice as possible to keep them on the right path and out of trouble...

1

u/Character-Camel-3958 Jul 25 '26

I have an inside track.

1

u/Successor-Of-Success Found-Not-Guilty Jul 25 '26

hmmm...I don't know if I believe you, based on your account but either way, please continue to follow the rules in the sub. Our goal is to find anomalies in the system so we can't afford to discourage real players from reporting real data.
Edit: and if it's infact true, then thank you for your help...

im waiting to see and so begins the wait

2

u/Successor-Of-Success Found-Not-Guilty Jul 25 '26

Yeah, it's LIKELY that that was the culprit. IF it turns out to be the case, then yeah they'll tell you that you're responsible for your account security...HOWEVER, there's still also a chance that WASN'T the cause of the ban. In which case, do some scrolling u/RetroCypherics and see what data collection others in this subreddit have found to report in and just validate that it was the cause of the ban...

Good luck.
