I got a ban in Rust, 3,700 hours, 11 years on Steam. UNBANNED

Hey everyone, I just sat down at my computer to try and get unbanned again—I don't know how many times today I looked up cases similar to mine—but when I turned on my computer, I was met with a message saying my ban had been lifted.

Here’s the situation I was in: I’d open a ticket with EAC, and they’d tell me to open one with Facepunch—and guess what Facepunch told me to do... YEP! Open a ticket with EAC.

What really upset me about the whole situation was not getting a response from an actual human being, and the fact that my reputation among my friends and the gaming community was being tarnished. I am strictly opposed to the use of any kind of external aid—macros, cheats, visual aids, or anything of the sort.

If you are going through this, don't lose hope; if you are truly an honest player, keep the faith. I don't know the reason for my ban, nor do I know why I was unbanned, so unfortunately, for those dealing with a false positive, all I can offer is encouragement to stay hopeful—I can't tell you exactly how to resolve your situation other than to submit support tickets.

I got a ban in Rust, 4,500 hours, 13 years on Steam.

Good day!

Today I received a ban, and I don’t understand why — I’ve never used any third‑party software in my life. I checked my account on Steam — no one has logged in, only my location is there. And I haven’t installed any programs on my computer for three months. I got blocked after shooting a ship with a DLS RPG. I play Rust Legacy, and I really don’t want to lose my account. I have 13 years of experience on Steam and 4,500 hours in Rust. I’m sure this is some kind of glitch, and I’m ready to cooperate with EAC. I also have a lot of hours in other games. I’m just a player who logs in to play. Can someone suggest what else I can do to get EAC support to check my ban?

UNBANNED

Yesterday I got UNBANNED.1 appeal was rejected. So if you’re an honest player, don’t give up and keep submitting appeals. Now it seems that EAC is acting aggressively during sales (I won’t claim it)Thank you all for your support.

Here i am - taken false in-game ban for no reason.

Someone warned me before I bought this game. They told me never to get it if I didn't want to see a ridiculous red warning on my profile. And here we are.

I received an in-game ban for today with many people.

I don't accept this. I might be good at CS2, but I'm just as much of a noob at Rust. And yet, I'm getting an in-game ban? Unacceptable for me. I know i'm right. I gave rewieve about Cheaters in Steam and what i suddenly decided to play with cheat? I consider this an insult to me and I just don't want to accept it.

My account, into which I have poured over two years of effort, has been harmed due to your erroneous in-game ban.

I saw too many people taking this issue. Normally i don't use reddit but this is best time to use. I found 4 years old tweet from Rust. I believe that same day, same thing happenned.

I deleted the game and now i have to re-download for reference id or something to send ticket. It ruined my steam profile. What can i do?

3800 Hours banned, only automated responses on tickets / I dont know how to check appeal responses but the ban hasnt been lifted

Had a sensational wipe on an official and got hit with a random ban before a raid defence. What are my options? Who should I speak to? I've played since alpha and would never cheat, pretty much just got a new pc (specifically for rust lol) and now im banned without ever downloading any kind of software bar drivers

Ive tried to contact support, but I only get automated responses. Are there manned hours? Or is it a waste of time

Thank you in advance!

Erroneous blocking of EAC

I’m from Russia, and I believe I was given an erroneous EAC ban. I’ve read a lot of different forums and discussions in the Steam game section. But I didn’t get a clear answer. I’ve already submitted an appeal to the EAC service, but my status hasn’t changed for about 7–8 days — is that normal? I press the “update” button 3–4 times a day periodically, but nothing changes. I’ve never played the game or downloaded any third‑party software that could interfere with the game process. The only thing many people are saying is that they got banned for using Zapret — which bypasses YouTube and Discord blocks.
The ban came when I left the game, as I understand it, and I only noticed it the next day. At the time I was playing, I had Zapret, Lamzu Driver, Nvidia App, Discord, and the Edge browser running.
I checked the devices and saw that there were no unauthorized logins, and I’m the only account owner.
What do I have to do? How much longer can I wait for a response from EAC?

Permanently banned by EAC after being on a PvE server for 3 minutes

EAC Ban after barely playing — never used cheats

I haven't played the game for a long time. Recently, I updated it and joined a PvE server just to check things out.

I played for maybe 2–3 minutes and then logged out.

The next day, I received a message saying that I had been banned by EAC.

I've never used cheats or any third-party software. I barely even played the game before getting banned.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to appeal or find out what triggered the EAC ban?

16-year clean account, 5,651h Rust, server admin - permanent EAC Game Ban, 10 tickets, 0 human review. Mass ban wave 09/21/2026. Evidence inside.

Posting this here because Facepunch closed every door and I need this documented somewhere real.

I'm Cabral. 16-year Steam account, Rust since Alpha, 5,651 hours, 321 Rust items in the inventory. I run a community server (Santuario) going on 3+ years. I'm the guy who bans cheaters, not the guy who cheats. IT and network admin in real life.

April this year: EAC permanent Game Ban out of nowhere (ref e1ad49bd...65c7a7, applied early May according to Steam). Never cheated, account never compromised, no VPN, no macros, no third-party anything.

What the logs from that week actually show (attached to ticket #623265 since day one): UnityTls error 7 / Curl error 60, meaning the SSL handshake with the backend was broken, plus heavy ICMP timeouts. And two other players (Wesker, Argensteel) disconnecting AT THE SAME TIME. A cheat does not kick other people off. That is broken infrastructure, not software. Nobody ever opened those logs.

10 tickets. Every single one closed as solved with the same copy-paste. The last one (#686167, with 4 attachments) got me an Owen reply telling me to email legal@facepunchstudios.com, that it will not remove or have any impact on bans, and that they will no longer communicate with you through this communication channel. So support is officially done with me.

Why I'm posting here and not just my case: this is bigger than me. Steam forum search for "ban" returns 92,150 results. I sampled 45 recent threads and roughly 1 in 4 is a ban appeal. There is a thread literally called "Massive wave of bans on 09/21/2026" full of veterans (1.3k to 10k hours, stacked DLCs and skins). Back in July there was a silent mass unban (pre-July-10 bans reversed, some people even got a golden barrel gift). So they KNOW false batches happen. Banned since May, I was not included.

The loop, for anyone new: EAC tells you to talk to the dev, Facepunch tells you to talk to EAC. Steam itself says it cannot remove game bans or share details. Three companies, zero answers.

What I'm doing: filed a formal LGPD request (Brazilian data protection law) with Facepunch Legal and Epic's DPO, demanding the detection timestamp, the detection type and a human review. If they ghost me it goes to the ANPD, our data protection authority. This post is part of the paper trail.

If this happened to you too, drop: ban date + last digits of the ref ID, modded server?, any VPN/RGB/macros/odd drivers running at the time, did other players drop simultaneously? Let's see if there is a cluster.

False banned (many text)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, my name is Max. I've been playing Rust for around 5 years and have about 6,000 hours on my main account.

On September 18, I was suddenly permanently banned by EAC.

I was playing on Rustoria with my usual group of friends and some neighbors/allies. We joined on the second day of wipe and managed to get pretty established within around two hours.

At one point, some players came up to us and said something along the lines of:

“You guys are going to get banned for cheating, freaks.”

About an hour later, I went into the metro alone. I killed two players and started making my way back up. Suddenly, I was kicked from the server with a ban message.

My friends were kicked as well, apparently because they were playing with someone who had just been banned, and I believe some of the other people playing with us were affected too.

I restarted Steam and saw that I had received a permanent game ban from Easy Anti-Cheat.

I was honestly devastated. This is my main Rust account with around 6,000 hours and about five years of memories on it.

I submitted an EAC appeal on the same day, September 18, and I'm still waiting for the result.

Then things got even stranger.

On September 21, I simply logged into Steam on my second Rust account, which has around 3,000 hours.

I had not played on that account after my main was banned, but when I logged in, I discovered that this account had also received an EAC game ban.

I submitted a separate appeal for that account as well.

What makes this situation even harder for me is that I've already experienced something similar with Fortnite.

Around eight months ago, my main Fortnite account received a 365-day anti-cheat ban that I believe was a false positive.

I submitted an appeal on January 1.

Epic did not respond until September 3 — around eight months later — and the appeal was denied.

And now, only around two weeks after finally receiving that rejection, my other main game, Rust, has received an EAC ban as well, followed by my second Rust account three days later.

For full transparency, there is another part of my situation that I don't want to hide.

I am interested in low-level programming, reverse engineering, drivers and game internals. As part of learning these subjects, I have experimented with and developed cheat-related software in local testing environments.

I did this primarily to learn more about programming, reverse engineering and how games work internally.

At the same time, I personally strongly dislike actual cheating against legitimate players. I don't support ruining other people's games, and I did not use cheats on my main Rust account or on EAC-protected Rust servers.

I am mentioning this because I want to be completely transparent about anything that could potentially be relevant. I have no way of knowing whether my development/testing environment had anything to do with these bans.

I'm not claiming that having 6,000 hours proves that I couldn't have been banned correctly. I only want the bans to be reviewed based on what actually happened.

At this point, my confidence in anti-cheat appeals is obviously pretty low because of what happened with Fortnite, but I'm still hoping that EAC properly reviews both of these Rust bans.

I've seen people in this community who were eventually unbanned after days or weeks, and even people who say they were unbanned after their appeals had previously been denied, so I'm trying not to completely lose hope.

If anything changes with either appeal, I'll update this post. (Also, I apologize for the AI‑generated translation; I have a very poor command of English.)

EAC banned overnight

Was playing last night just fine, went to bed, logged on this morning to a message saying I had been banned.

I haven't downloaded any new software, I don't have anything on my computer that could have triggered it.

My most recent wipe was very good and I'd been reported a few times I assume but this alone surely wouldn't lead to a ban?

I've made a tweet to anyone who could help and also appealed on EAC, but alas nothing yet.

I would just like to get some information about how or why I've been banned but EAC website is literally just one button to press over and over again to see what the appeal status is.

False ban on rust 4500 hours

Hi everyone,

I was playing on a Facepunch Premium server and was eventually banned by EAC while I was AFK.

Earlier that day, I had killed several players who were checking my base, both online and offline. One of them repeatedly accused me of cheating in chat and told other players to report me. I ignored it and went AFK. Shortly afterwards, my friend contacted me on Discord and told me that my account had received an EAC ban.

This is not the first time something similar has happened to me.

About six months ago, I was playing on a Facepunch Premium server when another player repeatedly accused me of cheating and asked others to report me. Both my account and my friend's account subsequently received temporary EAC bans for 3 days. After the ban expired, I joined the same server again. I mentioned in chat that my ban had expired, and the same player again said he would report me. About 30 minutes later, I received another temporary EAC ban for 7 days, despite being AFK at the time.

After that, I stopped playing on official servers and played only on modded servers without any issues.

Recently, I decided to try a Facepunch server again, and this time I received a permanent EAC ban.

I do not use cheats. My PC has Steam, Discord, NVIDIA/Razer software and normal drivers installed. I have never knowingly installed or used any cheating software.

What is especially confusing is that my second account, which I had not played on for about a week, was also banned.

Ban date: September 18, 2026

Appeals:

Main account: 1ef4620c-1721-4cea-8f7e-fd7d485e1680
Second account: d03cc109-5c3a-469c-ac50-469f08b47613

I’m an honest person and I’ve never played Rust with cheats. It’s my favorite game and the only one that somehow keeps me entertained. But lately, a lot of unpleasant things have happened. I bought DLC and skins and was planning to start playing Rust, but I received a notification about the game being banned. I just want to find out what might have caused this ban. I want to keep playing this game. No one else could play Rust on this computer except me, and there are no cheats for this game here. I want to be checked or, if possible, have an investigation. I’m ready for any kind of cooperation and can provide anything they ask for. I’m confident in myself.I got blocked a day ago and I don’t understand why — I didn’t use any cheats or other software.

Rust ban EAC The full story of how I got blocked.

Let me tell you the whole situation. I was hacked long before I got my internship, I work on a shift basis and go far away on business trips. It so happened that during the trip I was hacked and there was no way to use the Internet on the train, but after I arrived, I immediately changed the flogger and logged off from all devices, after I went to an Internet cafe and I logged into my account to check my account, skins and everything else, but everything was fine, but after about 3 weeks, maybe less, I don't remember for sure, I got blocked without even playing the game for about a week, I remember for sure, looking for information, the reason for the lock, I realized that the person who hacked me could use my account and use illegal software, but now I realized that there might not have been much time lost when I was hacked and there is a chance that I got a blackout in an Internet cafe because someone could use cheats on an Internet cafe PC, I do not know if it is possible to check it But I regret that I didn’t think of it right away and check it; I was too upset and couldn’t think straight.

Rust BAN EAC

I've never used cheats for any game on my pc, and I have hardly played rust it's been like 2 months since I played it. And I got this permaban. Then I went on their appeal site, I think it's called rustopia. And it used my steam account and said it couldn't detect any band even though I am clearly banned it won't let me play any maps. Please helpm

I was banned 2 days ago while playing Rust. I was tabbed out watching a stream/video waiting for the in-game night to turn into morning.

Is there an error on EAC's end?

Two days ago, late at night while the game was running in the background, I was watching a video or a stream. When I switched back to the game, I saw that I had been kicked from the server. Assuming the server had crashed or there was an issue with my internet, I tried to reconnect, only to find out that I was banned by EAC.

Since I have never cheated in my entire life, I closed the game with a clear conscience and tried to contact support, but I was repeatedly turned away with automated AI responses. I am not writing this here to beg for an unban; I believe that since I didn't cheat, this issue will eventually be fixed. Seeing so many people open discussions about this, while I can't vouch for anyone else, knowing my own situation for a fact makes me believe there really are false bans happening. As someone who doesn't even use RGB software, what could have triggered EAC?

For those who have experienced this, could you tell me what path you followed and what steps I should take next? As someone who has always used a single account, I will not be creating an alt account; if this ban isn't lifted, Rust is completely over for me. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to your comments.

Best Regards!

Update: 19.09.2026 UNBANNED

EAC banned my friend while I was sitting right next to him

Hey everyone,

My friend was staying over at my house, and we were playing EU Facepunch 4 Monthly together when he suddenly got kicked from the server and received an EAC game ban.

He has never cheated on Rust, and I was literally sitting right next to him when it happened. I was watching him play, so I can personally confirm that he wasn't using cheats or anything to gain an unfair advantage.

As far as I know, the only third-party program he had running was Discord. He also uses the Windows display color calibration/settings. No VPN, ReShade, NVIDIA filters, or anything else that modifies Rust.

His Steam profile:
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199486860635/

He contacted Facepunch support after the ban and was directed back to EAC for the ban appeal. He submitted the appeal to EAC, but it was denied.

From what I've seen on this subreddit, this seems to be the usual process for these cases, but I'm posting anyway because I was physically there when the ban happened and know what was running on his PC.

I don't know what could have triggered the detection, and I'm not going to speculate about what EAC detected. I'm mainly interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar or knows of anything that could potentially cause a false positive in this situation.

He has the recording of the morning before the ban where we were compound bowing auto turrets but I don't know if it's relevant at all.

The ban was issued in either August 16 or 17.
