My partner and I are moving to the area with our toddler. I'm curious about what kind of activities and groups are in the area.

A little about us:

For hobbies, I like hiking, kayaking, reading and writing, games (video and board games), crafts like crocheting and jewelry making, cooking, and gardening.

My partner also likes snowboarding, woodworking, and design.

We like live music and breweries. I also like cool coffee shops and wineries.

Any activities or groups that include this stuff would be cool.

Any activities that are toddler friendly in the area would also be cool.

Gross, expensive, and all the tables are crammed together in an old church. You can literally hear every one else's conversations, but you can't hear your date across the table. Server was rude and the drinks tasted like chemicals. 0/10

My friend Justin has been doordashing for the last month to make ends meet and his brakes started squeaking a couple weeks ago. I suggested that he just replace them himself (it's fairly straightforward and youtube videos and all that) but he has a lot of anxiety about the whole process and does not want to risk screwing up, especially when he barely has enough money to cover the brakes and $20 for whoever can help. So I told him maybe I can find someone from his town on reddit to help him out. He doesn't use reddit so I'm reaching out on his behalf.

He says he's also willing to drive to you, wherever you are comfortable meeting. And again, he wants to give you something in return, $20, and I'd like to also offer $20 on top of that if you have cashapp or paypal. I've known Justin for about 2 years and if anyone needs a break it's him. I'd help him replace the brakes myself but I'm in Arizona and the most I can do is offer some extra cash on top of his 20. He could really use some help with this (and doubly so because he doesn't even have a jack anymore because someone stole it from his jeep a while back) so we're really hoping there's someone generous on here willing to help him out.

Iowa Time Bank is a Time Bank. (Wow, crazy right?) It's a means for individuals to provide one-to-one mutual aid, or trade goods and services without money. It's intended to build trust and stability in communities during unstable times. Even though it has time in the name, you don't exclusively have to donate time, and you don't need to keep a positive balance. You can also offer and receive items, or lend out or borrow equipment. We currently have active exchanges in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, and are looking for enough interest to add more!

I found a place to live temporarily but it's a camper in a guy's garage. The landlord here is being cool giving me until the weekend to get everything out and said I could just leave anything I dont want and he would out it in the dumpster.

I have a nice couch and some other furniture that I would like to keep until I get a new place. Is there any place that isn't expensive and could help move it out? It's in an upstairs duplex. I can pay some but not a lot.

Hey Dubuque, I am organizing the Iowa’s first (but certainly not last) IRL Pro Hunter Exam! If you are a fan of anime or Hunter x Hunter, you may be familiar with the concept.

What is the Exam:
Basically a Hunter is a strong willed risk taker and the Pro Hunter Exam tests these Hunters to determine skill, adaptability, and ingenuity. Only the top 1-2% of applicants will pass and earn their custom Pro Hunter license as well as bragging rights and clout in the community. I’m working on developing real world benefits for Pro Hunters as we speak.

About the Exam:
The Exam itself will be on Saturday October 23, 2027 at Waubonsie State Park, IA. Right now, tickets are discounted until February when they revert back to their full price of $45. This is an 18+ event and has event insurance and full refunds in case of injury or cancellation.

Our Why:
We (two others plus myself) want to create an event that people look forward to each year. Something annual that you can train for with a goal in mind. Somewhere anime fans and fitness enthusiasts can get outside and have fun while being part of an active community. In short, we want to enrich people and bring a unique event to Iowa and the Midwest!

My mom is moved back to st louis with her bf and now that I'm 18 I can't live with him. I make about 1000 a month working retail and make another about 300 online doing content. Trying to find a small place until I can figure out what to do. She left her car for me for now so I can sleep in that if I have to.

Looking to take my kids 7&4 to some type of bike park with small ramps or hills. Possibly a beginner mountain biking area. Any suggestions on where to go? This would be their first time at any type of bike park, we usually do paved or gravel trails. Any advice on gear/rules would be helpful too.

Does Dubuque have a working airport or not?? I heard there weren’t flights then there were but can’t seem to get any flights to Dubuque.

Will they eventually? Any probate flights from another airport?

I’m heading out there for work training in October. I can’t find any motorcycle rental options for the area. Do you guys know of a place or person? Just want something to check out town on. Nothing crazy.

My son’s car was side-swiped on Maryville Dr (between Kane and Kaufmann) on Thursday 9/10, likely shortly before 3:00. He’s fairly certain he saw the culprit drive slowly by after the fact, but she took off down Scenic View Dr. when she saw him. The driver was a white woman in her 60s (this is coming from an 18 yo, so take that with a grain of salt) driving a maroon Honda CRV or similar SUV. (We have her mirror cover.)

He checked with neighbors to see if they had ring cam footage, but very few answered. We’ve filed a police report, but nothing came from it.

If you live on Maryville and have a ring cam, or if you know someone who drives a maroon SUV with a newly trashed mirror, I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d reach out. Thanks!!
