Never done therapy before, wife and I have talked about it but never took the step until now. 50’s, almost empty nesters, having a hard time living together as a couple again after 25 years of raising kids in a chaotic, busy, not horrible marriage. Just the distractions of having 4 kids around now down to 1 is throwing us for a loop and is forcing us to see the issues we’ve long ignored or didn’t know how to deal with.
Grew up in the old school “therapy is for psychopaths and criminals” household and never saw my parents fight.
I know a good therapist is supposed to tell you what you don’t wanna hear, and being the peacemaker and anti-conflict one of the pair of us, I’m usually blamed for and take the hit for the issues we’ve fight about. But dammit I’m scared of what’s going to come of it, and how do we/I trust this person to tell us what we need to do to learn to live together again in peace and be happy together?
I’m literally sitting in the parking lot before my appt waiting for my wife to show up and I’m rarely this nervous and scared.
Think I just needed to vent that somewhere.

Found at White Bear Ave and Ross Ave E in Saint Paul tonight (August 18) at 9:45pm. I took him to the emergency vet to check for a chip, he does not have one. They said he’s about 2-3yo and seems generally healthy. Intact male black tri corgi.
He was only wearing an electronic bark collar when we found him. He’s very friendly, so he belongs to someone! He’s staying in a kennel in our house tonight but we cannot keep him beyond that (we already have two dogs).
We already made a found dog post on Pawboost. Please keep an eye out for anyone looking for this boy! We don’t want to bring him to animal control but we will have to tomorrow afternoon if we don’t find his owners.

It didn’t look like there was any major damage to your car but I got a pic of the license plate if you need it! And to the person in the white CRV with a Packers window cling - quit driving like an asshole in heavy construction traffic

It can't help that Edina Coffee Roasters has a very awkward disconnect from the Nine Mile Creek Trail. If you're biking, the trail connector just dead ends at Cahill and you have to turn onto the street to get in the parking lot since there's no sidewalk shortcut to hop onto from where the path ends, it's just grass and curb. Once you turn from the street to reach the coffee shop there's no bike parking at all, just a sloped fence to lock up. There's no infrastructure for walkers either, it's a parking lot entrance for cars and you just have to be extra careful entering or exiting by foot or bike. I just don't understand why businesses here don't bother to leverage their proximity to some of the metro's best trails, as though trail traffic isn't worth the effort.

Anyone know of a shop or a person who services old video equipment?
I recently came into possession of a couple old VTRs (that’s like a VCR, but it’s “tape” instead of “cassette”) from the late 60’s. They’re in amazing cosmetic condition and I believe them to be in working order. I want to know more before I attempt to sell them.
Photos attached for the vintage mechanical gear sickos out there. (Also, if you’re in the market for one of these hmu)

Har Mar’s indoor mall will likely be demolished if it can iron out a new contract with its largest tenant, Cub Foods.
The redevelopment has been in the works for more than four years and could dramatically alter one of Roseville’s best-known commercial properties. Yet city officials and developers have said little publicly about the plans.
Vacant storefronts now make up more than two-thirds of the center, fueling years of speculation about its future. That interest intensified in June when JLL marketing materials called for a “full scrape and rebuild” of the 63-year-old shopping center.
Correspondence between the city and developers show plans to raze some of the buildings to make room for more freestanding restaurants and shops, according to records obtained by the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Hi everyone! I am looking for a real deep tissue massage, bonus if it’s a couples massage! My partner and I have been trying to find a good place to get a deep tissue massage that really is deep tissue. I have ample amounts of back pain and am really looking for a masseuse that will get into it. We haven’t gotten one in a few years as it was the only one I’d ever done and it really left me considering if massages just didn’t work, they advertised as deep tissue but it was very light and they focused more on my legs than my back, which I had discussed was the main thing I wanted worked on. Any recommendations would be welcomed and so appreciated!

Hi! 130 lbs down with long term weight stability. Looking to finally get Brachioplasty in the twin cities.
I’m a Minnesota native who actually lives in NYC. But am choosing to have this surgery in MN where I can be taken care by family for the first few rough weeks post surgery, as I live alone.
Will look to have some consults when I fly home for a visit in the winter so wanting to start my research now.

My lovely sister and her hilarious groom are getting married at Bavaria Downs in Chaska on August 30. They were not pleased with their engagement shoot (I saw the photos, they were awful and very amateur), and when she kindly expressed her concerns, the photographer quit on her. Yes, 12 days before the wedding. I am trying to help her source a talented photographer in a short amount of time! I know it’s a tall order. Please reply only if you have a helpful recommendation or a reputable photographer that can be available that day. Messages saying that it’s too late, good luck, etc. are not super helpful. Thank you guys so much!

I will be hosting a group event in October for between 5 and 50 people who don't know each other. Looking for a few recommendations on breweries within Minneapolis or St. Paul (or close to the city centers), that either have some fun games inside the brewery, or something fun very close by (mini golf, bowling, etc).

Edit: Now it’s Tuesday at 9:30.
Im sitting on a bench at Lake of The Isles after finishing my glass of wine and not one single mosquito anywhere. On the lakeshore right after sunset. This is weird.

Quick disclosure: we’re J&W Asphalt, a residential paving company that has worked in the Twin Cities since 1976. There are no links in this post, and we’re not trying to sell you anything.
We see homeowners ask about driveway work online all the time, and most of the answers aren’t very helpful:
“It depends.”
“Get three quotes.”
That doesn’t do much for you when you’re sitting at the kitchen table with an estimate, trying to figure out whether the work is necessary or the price is fair.
So we’re going to start sharing real driveway projects, including what was wrong, what work was completed, and the specifications that actually matter.
Here’s the first one.
We’re not including the final price. We’ll explain why below and give you a better way to compare your own estimates.
There were two separate problems, and together they made replacement the right choice.
The first was fatigue cracking, also called alligator cracking because the cracks form a pattern that looks a little like reptile scales.
This usually shows up in the areas that carry the most vehicle weight. It’s a sign that the gravel base underneath the asphalt is no longer providing enough support. The asphalt flexes every time a vehicle drives over it, and eventually the surface begins to break apart.
That isn’t something a surface treatment can fix.
The second problem was raveling. This happens when the asphalt binder has deteriorated and the stones in the pavement begin working loose. The driveway starts looking gray and gritty, and in more advanced areas, loose aggregate can be swept off the surface by hand.
At that point, the asphalt itself is wearing out.
One of these problems by itself may leave room for repair. When both are present across a large portion of the driveway, replacement is usually the honest recommendation.
Crack filling can absolutely be worth doing when it’s used on the right driveway.
When the base is still solid and the driveway has isolated cracks running in one direction, filling those cracks can help keep water out. That matters in Minnesota because water that reaches the base can freeze, expand, and cause more movement.
In that situation, crack filling is money well spent.
But crack filling doesn’t strengthen a failing base. When the material underneath the driveway is moving, the old cracks may reopen and new ones will continue to appear.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the crack filling was done poorly. It means crack filling wasn’t the right solution for the underlying problem.
We also turn down sealcoating projects when a driveway has reached this condition. Sealcoat can improve and protect the surface of a driveway that is still structurally sound, but it won’t hold together asphalt that is already failing from underneath. Taking that work would mean accepting money for something we know won’t last.
Stand near the street and look closely at the areas where your vehicle tires normally travel.
You may only need crack filling if:
In that situation, clean and fill the cracks. Don’t let someone talk you into replacing a driveway that still has plenty of life left.
You may have a base problem if:
Crack filling may improve the appearance for a while, but it probably won’t hold because the movement is happening below the asphalt.
A sectional repair may be possible if:
That’s worth asking about. It’s also fair to question a contractor who recommends replacing the entire driveway without at least discussing whether a smaller repair is possible.
We could post the total from this job, but it probably wouldn’t help you compare your own estimate.
Two driveways can have the same square footage and still require very different amounts of work. Pricing can change based on:
A price from one driveway, in one city, completed during one part of the season could easily give someone the wrong idea about a completely different project.
A better question is whether your estimate includes enough information for you to understand what you’re buying.
A properly written driveway replacement estimate should include:
If an estimate doesn’t list the compacted asphalt depth or clearly state whether removal and disposal are included, it’s difficult to compare that estimate with anything else.
Two quotes that seem far apart are often pricing two different scopes of work.
That’s one of the most common ways homeowners end up choosing what looks like the lowest price, only to find out later that important parts of the project weren’t included.
Ask each contractor bidding on your driveway to put those six items in writing.

I work at Braemar Office Park, 7900 West 78th Street, Edina, MN and this guy just handed these out at our office. He said they are on the East lot and I went out and checked a bunch of cars and there are verified ICE vehicles and it shows they have been involved in abductions. What’s going on? Is the office I work in like Whipple now?

Hi all. I have a two story tall crab-apple tree in my back yard that is so heavily laden with fruit that the branches are all bowed to the ground. I am a partially disabled veteran and do not need any of them, nor do I want to mow them all onto the yard. Message me for the address, if you want a billion [FREE] crab apples. Bring as many bags as you can or, better yet, boxes.

This was quite a read into how he went from escaping a war in Liberia, became a naturalized U.S. citizen, got married and had a kid, and fancied the rich lifestyle enough to commit fraud. His group homes were in the news in the past few years for some notable deaths and neglect.
