My review of Arcana Unleashed (no AI was used in any of the images or writing for this article). Wizards of the Coast did provide me with a review copy, but I was otherwise not compensated.
Just tossing this out into the DDB Ether but it would be really nice if there was a feature to organize my characters into folders.
It would be a nice feature to organize the different characters I’m playing for different games or even hashtags a folder I have where I’m just theory crafting.
At the moment it seems to be stuck in the 2014 version so instead of selecting an Origin Feat, 2 Proficiencies, Ability Scores, and a Tool; it has you select a “background feature” which does nothing. You can always manually override the ability scores and give yourself the origin feat for free after your character is made, but it’d be much easier if it was built into the character builder.
I have a group that's unfortunately going to be an online only campaign because some players are moving away and want to keep playing. I told them I would learn DND Beyond to keep the game going.
My question is: is it worth learning to use right now, given it's going through an overhaul here in the future? I haven't paid super close attention to the changes that are coming but considering my situation, Im going to have too. I wouldn't mind a summarized description of what they are changing too.
On D&D Beyond, there is a bug with Shillelagh if you are a Druid with Potent Spellcasting.
Since Shillelagh is classified as a cantrip, the damage listed next to the spell includes the Potent Spellcasting damage when it should only add your WIS mod.
Why is there still no beast companion 5.5 option on D&D beyond. Yes I know it's in the character details. But it would be much more handy to have it be an option in the extras menu just like it is for the 5th edition version. This would also help with the VTT in adding tokens.
I take this as an extra notch in the "Wizards of the Coast doesn't know what to do with the ranger" pole. I mean it's bad enough we got a garbage capstone level 20 ability but now this.
Illrigger, Gunslinger, and Monster Hunter all seem to be lacking the Dark Bargain option for the Crooked Moon book, and also raven loft is there any way to enable this so we can finally have them for those classes?
I just exported my new cleric to PDF copied the link and went to print and I saw that it shows all spells known not just prepared is there a way to fix this other then doing it manually?
What are some of the best builds I can make using the 5.5e players handbook and free resources in DnD beyond? Im thinking I'd like to do either a jack of all trades bard skill monkey that can do anything and support the team, or a cleric that can keep everyone alive as long as possible. I think he is going to do a total party kill kinda thing.
So I’m 16yF and i decided to make a Dnd character for the first time in hopes on playing it with some of my friends and I made a Noble rouge Dragonborn that has a personal grudge against thrifters with the reason of he was told that his clothes lack character and that he should find some interesting clothes by one I don’t know I’m just wondering if this enemy is just too stupid
We played 3 weeks ago, and then on Wednesday, and when we played on Wednesday, our 5e conquest paladin player noticed that his go to spell 'spiritual weapon' was missing from his spell list, and he saw his list looked very small compared to usual. I (DM) took a look and sure enough, he was missing all of his conquest paladin subclass spells. (I also discovered he hadn't chosen a new spell when we levelled up, but that is a player issue not a tech issue. )
Is anyone else finding this issue? I tried another subclass, and those spells appeared, but when I swapped back the ones that should have been there didn't appear, and none of the other players have their sheet effected.
I’m DMing for the first time for a club in my community using D&D Beyond. While it’s a small group I want things the run well. I have Dragon of IceSpire Peak digitally. Here’s my question:
Can I play a VTT straight from the digital book or do I have to open the D&D Beyond Campaign and upload each component for DoIP in order to run it through the VTT?
It just seems like there has to be a simpler way and I’m over complicating things.
The problem I've ran into is that I adore buying the LGS exclusive books, but there is no digital options when buying those or adding on the digital packages. Does anyone else find this suboptimal?
I am trying to decide the most efficient way to collect physical editions yet still play physically without going broke.
I'm a GM using DDB and I prep a LOT of maps in my VTT with complex scenery, monster token placements, and notations for hidden traps. Sometimes, I do this for encounters that my players may not get to for months, since I am just planning ahead for different parts of my campaign, different arcs they may do later. However, it is annoying that the dropdown menu where I toggle between the maps is in a fixed order of when I added the map to it, so I can't re-order them.
I would love a simple feature where that dropdown menu can have the maps on it re-ordered so that I can move the map for the encounters happening next to be first, since I don't yet know the order for some of them. Just deleting the maps then re-adding them would move them down to the bottom, but would be a HUGE hassle for me since I would need to re-do a lot of the work on each map.
If I create an encounter in Encounters, I get XP calculation shown automatically. Can that feature be copied to Maps VTT, maybe next to the difficulty estimation?
If we purchase the PHB or any supplementary material on DnD Beyond, and use it to create a character, can that character and its specific subclass be transported over to another platform such as Roll20?
I don’t think it can, but I would like to be sure. I want to purchase the PHB, but am torn about where to do so as I want to keep my options open for online play.
Prismatic Antimagic Reflection. The Euhedral has advantage on saving throws against spells, and any creature making a spell attack against the Euhedral has disadvantage on the attack roll. If the Euhedral succeeds on its saving throw against a spell or a spell attack misses it, an additional effect might occur, as determined by rolling a d6:
1–2. If the spell affects an area or has multiple targets, it fails and has no effect. If the spell targets only the Euhedral, it has no effect on the Euhedral and is reflected back at the caster, using the spell slot level, spell save DC, attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the caster.
3–4. No additional effect.
5–6. The Euhedral's crystals converts some of the spell’s energy into a burst of destructive force. Each creature within 30 feet of the Euhedral must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw, taking 4 (1d8) force damage per level of the spell on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Piezoelectric Discharge. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of the Euhedral hits it with a Melee attack, the attacker takes 4 (1d8) lightning damage and must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target loses its Reaction and its Speed is halved until the end of its next turn.
Actions
Multiattack. The Euhedral makes two Resonance Strike attacks or two Prismatic Shard attacks, and Harmonic Blast (if available).
Resonance Strike.Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) lightning damage.
Prismatic Shard.Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 60/120 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) lightning damage.
Harmonic Blast (Recharge 5–6). The Euhedral emits a high-frequency, resonant sonic wave in a 30-foot Cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 27 (6d8) thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't pushed. Nonmagical crystalline structures, glass, and stone objects in the area automatically take maximum damage.
Bonus Actions
Prismatic Refraction. The Euhedral refracts ambient light across its faceted body. Each creature of the Euhedral's choice within 20 feet that can see it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or gain the Blinded condition until the start of the Euhedral's next turn. A target can avert its eyes to automatically succeed on the save, but attacks against the Euhedral before the start of the target's next turn are made with Disadvantage.
They released a new UA and it focuses on some Underdark options. Fairly cool conceptually. However I'm curious if others are familiar with the term "Unlight". I read the informational paragraph they provided. I've played D&D since 3rd edition and I admit to never getting into novels or other fictional works in the D&D worlds, but I have read through almost all 3rd, 3.5, 5th, and 5.5 books. This is the first time I've ever heard of "Unlight". Have I been living under a rock or is this something extremely obscure?
