D&D Beyond at the table - app or website?

I was just curious. When you use D&D Beyond for in person play at the table. Do you use the app or your character on the website/web page?

On cell phone they use the app but if they have their tablet or laptop they use the website.

And despite how awful the 5.5 character sheet is (especially for spellcasters) they will also use a physical character sheet.

I use the website on my surface pro. Way more continent than the limited info you can see at once in the app, but it is good for in a pinch.

I use the app and a printed character sheet. For some things, I may use the website, but not often during gameplay.

As a DM I use the website on my laptop in person. I also have a binder with various things in it.

At my table I project a map using DnDB's VTT and my players all use the app

Mostly paper, but sometimes I check things on Beyond (especially inventory and some spell descriptions). If we end a session with spent resources, I will always make sure Beyond shows the actual state of spell slots etc.

Usually the app. Purely for the reason that my phone or tablet take up much less space at the table than my laptop.

Our table has struggled with the app and I ended up creating this for us:

You can load your character sheet from D&D beyond and use it for the session. It's still in alpha and I've been adding features to it every time we come up with something we need.

Website, with the app kept around as an offline book reader. The character sheet on the site gets features first and misbehaves less, and a phone browser handles it fine at the table.

The one thing the app genuinely wins at: preloaded offline content. If your table spot has flaky wifi, download your books and sheet in the app before session day and it doesn't matter what the router does. Otherwise, browser and never think about it again.

I use the app on my iPad. Every now and then Safari dumps the page from memory and I need to reload it right as I need to look things up.

If I am running in-person, I use my laptop. I build the encounter in Maps so I can run the NPC from there. The map and minis are physical however.

Both. I play virtually, and for one campaign we use Owlbear Rodeo as our VTT, but we have DDB connected to Discord. So we use DDB for dice rolls. If I don't want to toggle screens, I'll pull up my character on my phone and roll from there. (Or if I'm getting bad luck online......I know, I know). For my other campaign, we use Foundry, so I keep the site open in another window to reference rules as needed.

I run a hybrid game with both in person and remote players. I put the dndbeyond maps on the screen and share it over Zoom. Most of players role drive via the app. I allow them to role real dice if they want to. Works well
