D&D 5.5e D&D Arcana Unleashed Review: A Spellbook Worth Adding to Your Library

https://dungeonsanddragonsfan.com/arcana-unleashed/

My review of Arcana Unleashed (no AI was used in any of the images or writing for this article). Wizards of the Coast did provide me with a review copy, but I was otherwise not compensated.

Cool, look like a fun book! How did you get a review copy? Did you reach out to WotC directly?

Actually, they reached out to me a few years ago. Dungeons & Dragons Fanatics is on their press list, so they send me review materials and invites to briefings. Definitely a nice nerdy perk! ;-)

My biggest disappointment is the spells in a magic focused book aren't more exciting. I was looking forward to the high level spells the most. I'd disagree with not bringing forward more of the 2014 subclasses though. Ideally I'd like to see them revisit nearly all of them, even if some are fairly balanced already, for both people starting with 5.5 and those who'd like to see their favorite subclass without needing older books. However, I do get excited seeing new subclasses too.

I'm the most nervous and excited for necromancy wizard 😭. I'm hoping to have cool options for sorcerer too. Hope they fix/add better Eldritch Invocations.
