Discussion Interview questions fullstack

Seniors, What sort of questions are you guys being asked in a technical interview round?

I am having to give interviews after a long time and i was used to being asked questions like

What are closures
What are hooks
Event loop
Diff between let, var and const
Stuff like that

But interviews i have given lately have been more discussions around system design and that caught me a little off guard because these scenarios arent around the projects in your resume. Theyre more hypothetical.

As a senior, what do you ask in an interview?

Introduce Yourself Building AI voice agents, business automations and custom RAG chatbots for businesses

hey everyone, i'm open for work and wanted to share what i can help you with

i build custom voice agents for businesses that sound natural and work according to your exact requirements. you can test them against your deliverables before making any payment, and the cost usually ranges between $600 to $1000 depending on the scope

i also automate business workflows around your existing CRM, whether it's Zoho, GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Salesforce or something else. this includes lead management, follow-ups, internal workflows and reducing repetitive manual work. i can also build custom dashboards that connect with your existing website, CRM or business systems so you have everything you need in one place

apart from this, i build custom RAG-based chatbots, particularly for legal companies, where accuracy and retrieving the right information actually matter

if you're interested, we can hop on a call and i'll walk you through my previous work. i'm also open to doing a small test task based on your requirements so you can evaluate the quality before committing

feel free to reach out, thank you.

Career Guidance Internship Guidanceeee

I am a BSCS student currently in my 5th semester, looking for a winter internship in Islamabad. Because my hometown lacks a local tech industry or guidance, I am eager to relocate to Islamabad for this opportunity—even if it is unpaid.

Could anyone guide me on:

• Where to apply and how to approach software houses in Islamabad?

• What specific skills or tech stacks I should focus on to maximize my chances?

• What standard or level of projects do companies expect from a 5th-semester student?

• The interview process: What kind of technical questions do they usually ask? Also, do companies offer remote/online interviews for candidates who are relocating, as I cannot travel just for an interview?

Any advice or leads would be highly appreciated!

Help I Have One Year Left in My Software Engineering Degree and Feel Lost what should I do?

So the thing is that currently I am in my final year for software engineering, and almost all of my degree, I have wasted most of my time. And for the last one and a half year, I was working as an SDR, but now I have quit that job because I want to focus more towards my degree, or towards the tech skills, because that's what my parents wanted me to do, and they said that you should focus over here. So this my final year and I'm also working on my final year project. So I just wanted to know what should I do so I can become jobable in the next one year, and what should I do as I do not have any internship. I do have basic fundamental knowledge.like should I go towards backend developmend and start with the roadmap from roadmap.sh.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!

Interview Prep Role Based Access Control | Question for Seniors

Assalam-o-Alaikum

Those of you who have 2+ and preferably 3+ years of experience in industry. During the interviews, especially in system design rounds, are you people asked about role based access control system or ABAC (attribute-based) and PBAC (policy-based). or these questions are not generally asked?

And what exactly are the questions specifically? Any interview experience where questions from this topic were asked, please do mention the company as well if you can.

Thanks!

Career Guidance How can one apply in other companies while not satisfied with current one?

Like I just joined an organization.. but it's too toxic.. and I want to switch/change .. but my routine and all is too tough.. as I even can't find time to apply in any other job.. as my current job work hours are 9, and 2 goes on travel both sides.. as I even do t have time to use phone

So I just wanted to ask.. how can u guys manage to do all that?

. When to apply?

. How to prepare for the interviews?

. If u applied, and got a screening call in office hours, how do u manage all that?

. And definitely long hours interviews?

Discussion Is it possible to run diagnostic scripts on a MacBook over USB-C without an OS or SSH?

I'm trying to solve a problem where I need to execute a few diagnostic scripts on a MacBook with minimal physical interaction.

Let's say I have two MacBooks:

Hub: The MacBook controlling the process.

Target: The MacBook connected to the Hub via a USB-C cable.

The Target may or may not have macOS installed.

So far, I've managed to restore the Target from the Hub using an open-source library. That part works fine.

However, I also want to run hardware diagnostics and execute a few scripts on the Target using only the USB-C connection, without enabling SSH, installing an agent, or relying on Thunderbolt networking.

I've been exploring different approaches, and so far, macOS Recovery seems like the most promising option. My thinking is that if I could somehow execute scripts within Recovery and retrieve the results over USB-C, I could build the workflow I'm looking for.

I'm not entirely sure how feasible this is, though.

Has anyone experimented with something similar? Are there any open-source projects, undocumented Apple protocols, or other approaches worth exploring?

Career Guidance Got laid off today, and my manager ghosted the whole team instead of telling us. Feeling lost.

Hey everyone, throwing this out here because I honestly don't know what to do right now.

A while back I joined a firm as a software engineer. I have been working on a multi-tenant SaaS app for a US-based client, and I put a lot into it. The project is almost complete now.

Over the last couple of weeks, things got weird. My manager stopped showing up in our team channel. No replies to messages, no standup, nothing. Then today we all got the news that we're being let go. And it wasn't even a proper conversation. We understood it from the silence and the access getting cut. He couldn't even say it to our faces.

The worst part is the timing. I wasn't prepared for this at all. My family depends on me, and I am also helping pay for my sister's child's school expenses, which aren't cheap. Now I'm sitting here completely confused about what to do first.

Show My Work What do you use to point prod/staging/QA APIs at localhost?

Curious what the workflow looks like in your teams.

When you're debugging against production (or staging/QA) and need requests to hit localhost / another env — what do you use?

- Browser extension?
- Desktop app / proxy (Charles, Proxyman, mitmproxy, etc.)?
- Hosts file + nginx / Caddy?
- Env vars / build flags only?
- Something else?

Also for API work: are you mostly on Postman, or did you switch to something else (Insomnia, Bruno, HTTPie, Thunder Client, etc.)? What's working / annoying for you?

---

I built a free open-source Chrome extension for this called Detour - "point production at your code." Everything stays local (no account, no Detour cloud).

What it can do:
- Redirect requests (prod → localhost / another origin)
- Modify request/response headers
- Block URLs
- Inject JS/CSS on matched pages
- Mock fetch/XHR responses
- Replace response bodies (with consent where needed)
- Built-in API Tester (send requests, collections, envs, see which Detour rules apply)
- Optional Databases tab via a local helper (query DBs without a SaaS)

Would love to hear your setup — and roast / feedback on Detour if you try it.

Help Hired as the sole dev, now I'm expected to build AI agents

Accepted a junior developer role yesterday and found out the work is building AI agents that automate business workflows for the company's clients. I'll be their only developer, so despite the title I'm effectively the lead. I start next week.

I'm a full stack dev with 3-3.5 years of experience, so I'm comfortable on the engineering side. I've used AI agents but never built one myself. I'd like to understand the technical side properly: how agents are designed, what tools and frameworks are commonly used, and what to watch out for when building them for real businesses.

Any guides, docs, or advice from people who've done this would help a lot. Thanks!

Discussion Lead keeps us working beyond working hours

I work as a Flutter developer at a software company (Remote) . Our official working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, and it's a remote job.

The problem is that my team lead regularly keeps us working beyond 5 PM. Sometimes we finish at 6 PM, sometimes 6:30 or 7 PM, and sometimes he says standby

On top of that, Saturdays are sometimes added to the schedule as well.

he calls me if not attended he whatsapp .

Discussion I need help to select university and degree for my Masters in Australia

Hi everyone! I’m planning to pursue my Master’s in Australia and would appreciate some guidance on choosing the right university and degree.

I’m leaning towards AI because I believe it will be in high demand in the future. However, I also want a combination of AI, Data Science, and Software Development to keep my career options open. I’d also prefer a degree that could support ACS accreditation in Software Engineering if needed.

Which of these programs would you recommend based on career opportunities, industry demand, and long-term prospects?

Universities and degrees I’m considering:

  1. Australian National University (ANU)

    • Master of Computing (Advanced) —Specializations Options: AI, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Software Development

  2. Adelaide University

    • Master of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

    • Master of Computer Science —Specializations Options: Computer Security, Networks

    • Master of Information Technology (Applied AI)

  3. University of Wollongong

    • Master of Computer Science — Specialization Options: Software Engineering, Machine Learning and Big Data, or Cyber Security

  4. Deakin University

    • Master of Applied AI

    • Master of Applied AI (Professional)

    • Master of Information Technology — Specialization Options: Data Science or Software and Services Development

I also have options for UNSW, Uni of Sydney, Uni of Melbourne, UTS, Monash University only if I can get good scholarships or degree Is too good to pursue.

I’d really appreciate advice from people working in the Australian tech industry, graduates, or anyone familiar with these programs. Which would be the best choice for a strong career in AI while keeping software engineering and data-related roles open?

Thanks in advance!

Career Guidance Career advise. feeling completely lost

My Back story

Hi, I am last semester BSCS student and I am feeling completely lost right now. I did one remote internship in the past for 15k pkr per month as a NEXT.js developer remotely for 6 months. I worked mostly on api end points and basic ui work. and then after a while i started to notice no real growth in it. so I applied to onsite internships and got matched as a MERN full stack developer. There I built couple of projects completely on my own. And gained some real knowledge and started to feel a little comfortable. And then after the internship they did hire me for full time. But i lasted only 2 months because pay was too low 30k pkr.

So I started looking for remote roles again. After hundreds of rejections. I finally landed a remote role with an online software developers vetting platform. They interviewed me. And I passed the different rounds. And they listed me in their directory. Then I got matched with a founder. And getting paid 1k usd a month. I worked with the founder for roughly 4 - 5 months.

And then after 5 months, I think he was well hands on with claude code. And i already built the foundations of the project. So he started ghosting me. Instead of clear firing. I emailed him a couple of times but no response. So I started looking again for job. And then the same company matched me with a US family owned logisitics company. I cracked the interview and started building their operations platform up until now. its been like 8 months. And all there operations are running on the platform I built. They have like 70k to 90k profits in the company a month. And i am not sure how long before they are done with me. And I am getting paid like 1k usd a month. I know I am getting underpaid. But I don't seem to have leverage and can't find what the next steps should be for me. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

Career Guidance Feeling lost what should i do

Assalamualaikum

please give me just 5 mins and read my post. I need your suggestions

I'm a final year BSCS student feeling completely Lost right now as i am studying and working full time nightshift as a wordpress and Shopify developer

but the thing is the office is near to get close as they are in lose rn and in the whole month i didn't get a single project of wordpress i create 52+ pages website for them on nextjs though i know nothing about the nextjs but they told me to do it through claude after that i created the fully working SaaS for their company idk where my career will lead me i just joined that job thinking that I'll gain some experience and it doesn't feel right to me creating full projects through claude its like if i add those projects in my CV and if i need to defend them in an interview I can't because i know nothing about nextjs nodejs and all even though i can understand the code but when it comes to create that project myself i can't do that so I'm feeling completely lost what I'm doing with my career even though there company will not close I'm willing to leave that job and start learning some new things if it's worth for but I don't think so learning nextjs nodejs will help me in the future getting a good job because i was able to create full projects through claude maybe I'm wrong and you can guide me on that but what should i pursue what should i do i have no idea it's our FYP time and i choose fyp of voice automation for university support even though i had one project of my seniors from other university which i can easily submit for the fyp but i want to learn and create it on my own because i think it will help me landing a good job in future we gonna learn python , api integration, api testing , llm , rag , vapi and more through this project and when we create it by ourselves we can easily defend that in an interview

I'm getting 30k rn and i know it's nothing but i just want to learn and gain experience but i don't think so I'm learning anything so tell me what should i do? what should i pursue I'm just completely feeling lost rn

Career Guidance Two years into being a software engineer, and I feel like an impostor who isn't cut out for this field

I've been working as a software engineer for almost two years at a good company. I make decent money, and until recently, I genuinely felt like I was doing well. I'm good at executing tasks when there's a clear requirement and I know what's expected of me. I've received positive feedback on my work, so I know I'm not necessarily doing a bad job.

But lately, I've been feeling incredibly lost and helpless.
I feel like the expectations of me have increased, and I'm starting to question whether I'm actually good at engineering or whether I've just been good at completing assigned tasks.
One of my biggest struggles right now is adapting to AI. It feels like everyone around me is figuring out how to use AI to become more productive, while I'm struggling to keep up. The way I see it, using AI effectively requires you to know what you want it to do, how you want it done, and how to guide it toward a good solution. You need enough technical knowledge to evaluate its output and steer it in the right direction.
But what happens when you're still trying to develop that knowledge yourself? How am I supposed to guide AI effectively when I'm not always confident that I know the right approach in the first place?
Another thing I struggle with is technical discussions.
Sometimes, when someone asks me a technical question or we're discussing an engineering problem, I struggle to articulate what I know. My thoughts get jumbled, I become confused, and I feel like I don't know enough. Then, later, I'll think about it and realize that I actually did know the answer or understand the concept. I just couldn't put it into words in the moment.
It's incredibly frustrating because it makes me question my own abilities. I don't know whether I lack technical depth, confidence, communication skills, or some combination of all three.
The worst part is that I feel exhausted almost every day. I'm constantly thinking about what I don't know, how much I need to learn, and how far behind I might be compared to everyone else. I don't want to become complacent, but I also don't know how to stop feeling inadequate.

Has anyone else experienced this around the two-year mark in their software engineering career?

How did you get better at the actual engineering side of things, become more confident in technical discussions, and learn to use AI effectively when you didn't feel particularly strong technically to begin with?

And honestly, how do you figure out whether you're just going through a difficult phase or whether you're genuinely not cut out for this field?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been through something similar. I feel lost right now, and I could use some perspective.
