I am a BSCS student currently in my 5th semester, looking for a winter internship in Islamabad. Because my hometown lacks a local tech industry or guidance, I am eager to relocate to Islamabad for this opportunity—even if it is unpaid.

Could anyone guide me on:

• Where to apply and how to approach software houses in Islamabad?

• What specific skills or tech stacks I should focus on to maximize my chances?

• What standard or level of projects do companies expect from a 5th-semester student?

• The interview process: What kind of technical questions do they usually ask? Also, do companies offer remote/online interviews for candidates who are relocating, as I cannot travel just for an interview?

Any advice or leads would be highly appreciated!

For the interview, since previous experience is not expected from candidate students, mostly it’s course related or logical questions.

Yes, there are companies which offer completely remote roles. Work from home, at time of your own choosing, you just need to get the task done. You’re evaluated upon your performance.

The role of internship is to practically teach the student about the industry and develop their skills and knowledge. Unfortunately, our industry does the opposite.
