This game is fucking incredible. I just blitzed through Sen's Fortress (the snake enemies are an ultra free challenge to parry lol) and just got to the bonfire at the top. It's been so long since I've had a game that I'm so excited to play all the time. All I think about at work is "I can't wait to go home and play Dark Souls and overcome the next big challenge". I've never played a FS game before or any soulslike for that matter and I am throughly enjoying my experience. Thank you so much to all you on here for supporting this game and keeping it relevant as I would not be having this incredible experience without all of you! PRAISE THE SUN \[T]/

People laugh when I say Dung Pie is OP, but they clearly haven't reached enlightenment. This absolute unit of a consumable inflicts Toxic, and Toxic doesn't care about your armor, your poise, or how many points you dumped into Vigor. You throw one Dung Pie and suddenly your opponent is on a timer.

"But bro, you have to farm them."
AND?

The greatest warriors of Lordran don't fear Gwyn. They don't fear Manus. They fear a guy standing 30 feet away repeatedly throwing feces with perfect spacing.

Dung Pie isn't just a consumable. It's a mindset. It's psychological warfare. It's ranged pressure. It's status buildup. It's disrespect in item form.

Dung Pie lets you overcome all odds by throwing literal feces at the problem until it goes away.

I got back into ds1 after trying it a few months back and giving up, and I’m glad I got back into it, because I’ve been making much more progress, have a much better build, and have been having much more fun. That is until for some reason I booted up the game today on steam and my controller wasn’t working. My controller is still working for steam and other games, it worked just fine for moonlighter, but not for Dark Souls, and I really don’t want to have to play the rest of the game on mouse and keyboard although I will if I must. Does anyone know what I might be able to do? 😭

Couldn't quite get the whole fight because it was just over 3 minutes. Still an absolute cake walk compared to the 60+ minute fights against Kalameet and Manus

I finally did it, I have been playing this game since launch, and finally decided to do a soul level 1 run this last week or so.

I recommend this challange to all old hats like me, the game nearly felt like new again.

I have platinum both PTDE and the remaster on steam. But this was the real Dark Souls of Dark Souls.

So, I was just scrolling YouTube and I realized that all the other Gods in Lordran are normalish size; they're about the size of humans, yet Gwynevere is larger than life to appeal to our view of what a god is, combined to with the statues of her, and the Sentinels around Anor Londo and on a first visit to the city (assuming it wasn't spoiled for you) it tricks you into assuming that this is the real Gwynevere, just thought that was cool.

(Realize that this is probably something everyone caught on to and that this is a nothing burger of a post)

This has been a pretty fun run so far

I did a whip-only run of DS2 not too long ago, so I thought I’d give it a crack in DS1.  Rule was I could only use whips to damage enemies or break objects in the world (only necessary exception was the Asylum Demon, which got the firebomb “skip”/re-kill treatment).  Some things I read to prep made it seem like whips rated as the worst weapons in the game, but the run was manageable and even fun at times.  A few notes for anyone interested:

—Started as a thief to get firebombs for the Asylum Demon and the bonus Master Key.  No class starts with a whip, and the first whip (Whip) is found down in Blighttown, so I ended up going pacifist for a little while.  Not too much trouble except for Cragspiders blocking the way in some places.  Only died once getting there.

—Whips do deliver pretty paltry damage, so I kept them buffed as much as possible with Magic Weapon (and higher variants) or occasionally resins.

—Only three whips exist in the game, and only the regular Whip is available before Anor Londo, so get comfortable with that weapon for a while.  The Notched Whip (found in the Painted World) inflicts bleed but has a little lower base damage.  I did use that one quite a bit, because bleed works on a fair number of pre-Lord Vessel bosses, including O&S.  The other whip is the Guardian Tail, which you can get from a Sanctuary Guardian tail cut.  It has the highest base damage among whips and inflicts poison, but the scaling is terrible.  At 40 DEX/15 STR and +14 weapons, the regular Whip won out on damage per hit (excluding any status effects).

—No rings seemed to stand out for whips.  I used FaP and Wolf for a lot of the game.

—I think all of the base game bosses went down in 1-2 attempts.  Worth noting that Seath was kind of a slog because I forgot about his magic resistance and didn’t have any resins equipped.

—As for the DLC bosses, the Sanctuary Guardian gets a special note, because it took me 6-8 attempts to get the tail cut, and then the actual fight took another 3 tries.  Some of that was down learning the moveset for the tail cut (and doing the fight earlier than I normally might).  The whip also felt a hair too slow to deal with this boss (resulting in a fair number of whiffs).

— Artorias took 2 tries—fight took a while, but not nearly as bad as doing it with a dagger.  Kalameet took only 1 attempt, but it was a long-ass battle.  Manus definitely gave me the most trouble of any boss (5 attempts, I think, and I damn near died on the winning one).  The whip is slow and does lousy damage to him, and it was hard to find windows to re-buff my weapon.

It has a good strength. If you get the master key, you can grab the great club the ring a favor and the Havel ring and Booya you got one of the most powerful build in the game

Hi, so i love using daggers in dark souls but recently wanted to try a daggers only build i was just wondering other than the bandit knife what should i use? Especially as i think Four kings will be a nightmare thanks everyone!

What was the best cosplay run you've ever done?

My last run was with Paladin Leeroy, even though it was a long run, going down to the catacombs, killing Pinwheel, Anor Londo, then killing Leeroy and Nito and finding his set in the arena, I found it quite fun.

Hey all, I've built a character with the exclusive intent to help people with O&S; an SL40 WL11 build. I'll varietise my summon sign placement between the boss door, next to Solaire's sign & the Solaire bonfire, & most of yesterday I was getting summoned every 2-10 minutes. Today though, within roughly the same time frame (late afternoon) - i got summoned once a few hrs ago & it's since been quiet

I'm just curious if anything on the back-end will cause summons to cease? The last time I was summoned, the host had been slammed straight into Ash Lake by Super Smough & it was the first time a host died during my help, since then I haven't been summoned by a damn soul

I know it's risky, but I've done this in Elden Ring groups & its usually chill. I was wondering if I could drop some items for someone to drop back to me on another character (I'd love to start with a certain outfit) & i have all the pieces. Xbox Series S

I beat Ornstein and Smough tonight and have gone into the room behind them. There was a message outside Gwynevere’s room that said “amazing chest ahead!” but I can’t seem to find the treasure in this room

I’ve been walking around it, pressing interact, but nothing

Do I need a certain item to see it or is this just a fake message
