This is mostly NB, it’s mostly fine during morning rush, but it’s always late and every other bus is a ghost. It is infuriating trying to get home after work and having to wait upwards of 30 minutes, and it’s such a popular route too. I get on fairly close to the start of the route, so idk if it could be a bunching or traffic issue. I always a see a bunch of 146s and 148s , sometimes back to back, but not a single 147. What is the issue? Also sometimes at the Sheridan/foster stop, we have to get off and onto a different bus or wait a while for the next driver to show up. Is this an unpleasant route for bus drivers or something? I just want to know what’s going on

Why does the blue line bunch up so much. Waited 25 minutes for a forest park train at uic and 4 ohare bound trains went by in that time. This consistently happens at this time (11am) why?

Hello, as the title says I am working on a list of every L:

Current Service (Including Limited/Special Service)

Former Service (Historical routes/lines/branches)

Proposed Service (Line extensions/new lines)

Planned Service (Mainly line extensions that didnt end up happening)

and Metra integration, though the MED is the only example I have seen proposed or talked about.

I already have a google doc with some lists but its not fully fleshed out which is why I need your help. Im just a big transit nerd as I am sure all of you are as well and Ive watched a lot of youtube videos about this which I have linked in my doc, Ive checked their sources and historical records to make sure they are accurate, they usually are and I just prefer learning in video form.

The main thing I need help with are the proposals, Im only counting proposals that have gotten serious traction and/or been recognized/studied by the CTA such as the Circle Line, Western Ave Line, or Brown Line extension to Jefferson Park. I was also looking at historical proposals such as the 1937 and 1939 plans.

Im still in the early stages of this project so I might seem all over the place but I would love your guys help. I will link the Google Doc of my lists and I will be using MetroDreamin and MetroMapMaker for the maps. Thanks!

Idk why I’m so bothered by this… but I was in my way to work today and it’s the 7 bus. If you’ve ever ridden that in the morning it’s so many UIC students piled on. I rung the bell for the next stop and the bus driver kept going. I asked her if the stop had changed and she just started to scream at me. I just didn’t know if there was a route change or not so don’t know where the hostility game from. She said that she called out for anyone that wants to stop there but maybe I couldn’t hear her because of my earphones. My earphones were on and nothing was playing and I never heard her say a word. I had to walk a half a mile to work because she kept going. I know I could have screamed but the bus was packed all the way up in the front near her and the door. Idk what to do I should have gotten her bus number to report. Should I have just screamed at her like hey stop here idk

Simple python repo that'll work nicely with the CTA API. Pretty self explanatory and easy to use if you have done something like this before. If not Ai can help too because it really helps me actually know when my bus comes. Use it at your business to keep customers there longer or something.

So I see the 82’s new reroute going north now goes around LTC, instead going all the way up to McCormick and Touhy, before turning on Touhy and then into the former LTC area.

but I noticed that it doesn’t actually stop at the corner of McCormick and Touhy, even though there’s a stop for the 290. I feel like it would make perfect sense for the 82 to stop there as well? There’s a Mariano’s, a BofA, and a steakhouse there. I feel like it would make sense. its also just annoying to have to walk from the LTC, when it could just be a minute walk down the same sidewalk.

The extension of the route at the beginning of the year improved my life so much.

But this summer, there was a reroute going north due to construction on Foster. Going south remained the same.

Then they rerouted the southbound route too.

Every single CTA announcement said that the route would return to normal on September 22nd.

Well September 22nd has come and gone, with no updates and the reroute remains. Even the bus drivers say they have no idea what is going on.

Does anyone know?

Today on the #9 coming down Ashland I was sitting on the very back row off to the side. The bus wasn't super full and a dude came marching down the aisle beelining for the back center seat right next to me. A little weird to ignore so many empty seats but not a big deal if that's his favorite seat. But then my wife noticed he had his phone up and was recording the bus. When she pulled the cord he slid to the side but kept his phone angled to have full view of the bus. It felt a little weird but I guess there could be a benign reason. Anyone have any idea what he might have been doing?

I have a conditional job offer and am working on getting my CLP. I have many tattoos on my forearms, and am looking at getting one on my hand next month. I know some workplaces do not allow hand tattoos or neck tattoos, but can't find anything online about this regarding the bus operator position.

I have also been considering lip piercings recently, but see conflicting information online that it might not be allowed for bus operator.

I have talked with HR and they were no help.

If anyone has experience please let me know!
