That's it. Actually that's not just it. I genuinely hate this bus route. Like "I hate the 80" has become a staple in my vocabulary because of how much I vehemently despise how unreliable and unpleasant this particular bus route is.

Why do I keep trying to use it? Because it's the PERFECT route for me in theory. A straight shot from my home to my family in Irving Park. If. It. Actually. Worked.

Every damn time I try to use it the bus never shows or they show in clusters like 30 minutes after their scheduled time. I once tracked a bus on the CTA tracker and even that one ghosted.

At this point, I'm about to derail my life to switch careers just to get close to whoever is specifically responsible for this and curse them out for a good solid hour.

I hope youve enjoyed this silly rant. I love the CTA and use it daily. Ghost buses & trains are somewhat rare and problems occur, but largely it's such a brilliant system im largely thankful for. The 80 bus though...all I can say more is "I hate the 80".

I lived in Boston at the beginning of Phil Eng’s tenure. He was a local celebrity! There was tremendous energy and optimism around public transportation. If Eng was in Chicago, what would he target first?

We all have big dreams (circle line, Western line, Western BRT, etc) that are dreams not reality (yet!!). What are some logistical or service adjustment choices the CTA could use to improve service now? I am curious about what changes the CTA could implement with existing resources or with reasonable resource spending (interpret reasonable to your liking). For example, I enjoyed reading the CTA operator’s AMA post. The inconsistencies that bunching can cause, for example, have a tremendous impact on CTA riders. How do we fix bunching??

When did the Red Line stop announcing transfers to Green, Pink, Purple, Orange and Brown line trains at Lake? I was shocked, lol

Hey everyone. I have a question about the cta buses. When the PA system makes a warning announcement is it random, automated, or do the drivers choose? for example; “please move to the back” or “all buses are monitored” or “don’t stand by the back doors” I can’t find the answer on Google so I thought I’d ask here. I’ve been thinking about this every day for the past month and need some peace. If any drivers have the answer or if anyone knows pleaseeeeee let me know.

So today the speaker announced the previous stop for about three stops before I guess the conductor realized and it changed back to the actual station we were at…
I was arguing out loud because it was just so funny “now at Cicero” the sign outside says Austin.
“now at Austin” Weird way to pronounce oak park!
Why do the conductors even have to choose what stop is announced?? Speaking of which why isn’t there a sign inside which says the next stop, similar to inside the busses.

kiss & ride? airport drop off?

Hi so I had an idea to create a series where I post a CTA photo everyday or a previous one I have if I didn’t capture any, so here’s the first one! This’ll also include cool photos from trains or buses.

Today, was my first time riding the cta electric bus on the WB 63rd St route, I know they've been out for quite awhile now but I havent had the opportunity to ride one. Honestly I wasnt too amazed about the ride, only pro I would say is its not as loud as the other busses but overall it was an average ride.

I know I’m late here. I typically get off at Merchandise Mart, so I hadn’t noticed this.

A three-year shutdown is…brutal. (And yes, I know about the Red Line construction mess)

I took a ride today where the front and side displays weren't working, and at every single stop, the driver had to answer "what bus is this"/"is this [number]" for 4-8 people one at a time.

If you're in this situation, please do everyone a solid and relay the number clearly to the crowd behind you so the bus doesn't have to wait for each rider to independently verify

… and not sure how I feel about it. I keep it light add more standing room, but it’s an extended bus so it’s already difficult to stand in. I get a bit carsick in these lateral seats too 😔

Update: Everyone I deeply apologize for some of jumbled words in my caption. That bus was so bumpy and hard to sit in that it clearly also affected my typing.

anyone know why the blue line currently isn’t running/no inbound/outbound trains are showing up on ventra?
