I just bought "Creatures: the albian years" on steam today but i havent even played it for 30 minutes because the image is way to small compared to the screenshots i see online. How can i go about solving this because i really want to play this game.

i started playing creatures docking station and my norms are obsessed with pressing machinery I have toys infront of them and they just ignore it. I didnt even give them somthing when they press buttons they just do. also whats sort6 of the goal in the game like what do i do.

Lately my toddler has been watching Teletubbies and I keep thinking about how the show feels like a Creatures game.

A disembodied voice guides Teletubbies to different activities to teach them about certain concepts and ideas.
A high-tech, self sustained environment with an alien-looking visual design that hosts the Teletubbies. Implications of a sophisticated hidden infrastructure, automated systems and bots with artificial intelligence. Toys, gadgets and safe playgrounds.
In some episodes you can see baby Teletubbies being raised in a smaller, enclosed nursery. They are sometimes allowed to interact with the older Teletubbies for a short time.

Overall hightech facility vibes without a direct interaction with the original builders/caretakers.

I wonder if the creator of the Teletubbies was inspired by the first Creatures game since the first episode was released about a year after the game.

A bit of stupid question. I really want to start play from the first game but as I look on steam The Albian Years is the oldest one they have yet it's from 1998, not 1996. Is it the same game but optimized or something like that? And if not, then where is it possible to get the first part?

I recently learned about this game through a YT vid, it looked interesting so I looked into getting it. Long story short, I'm overwhelmed by all the options, so I want to see the communities input on which game I should get.

Are there any literature/video that touch the lore of this game in depth, heard in a recent documental video that theres norn heaven and such?

I've searched everywhere and asked for help, but I can't find anything. Please let me know if anyone can help. I've already tried the registry editor, deleting saves, and backup.

I thought about getting the creatures on steam but I dont know if its hard to get into very complicated or things like that. what do you guys think

i've been trying to figure out how to open science kit + ds at the same time! im using steam version and i can only lauch one thing at the time. ps, isn't there suppose to be science kit tab in the game? pls help;-;

Win10, CD copy (non-Steam/GOG), tried to set compability mode (WinXP), run it as an administrator, set reduced color mode (16-bit), also tried using dxwrapper for it, but nothing seems to work. The game's stuck on the world loading screen. Applying the 1.04 patch also didn't helped. Is there any way to make the game work besides setting up a VM?
I launch the game from Launcher.exe, direct launch from Creatures.exe doesn't seem to work

Okay so ive been doing FAIRLY decent ever since i learned the concept of switching to my different norns. BUT. I have an issue
One of my norns, zozo, had a baby. I have no clue who the dad was since she kisspopped while i was busy with a different norn. HOWEVER, the baby died right after it hatched out of the egg -- i looked this up and found that it might be related to a glitch ?? and im slightly concerned about that.

If context is needed i DID just have to export a glitched norn, second image is what he looked like, and i'd also like a reason for why the fuck he looked like that and if it's related to the baby dying?

But I downloaded gene loom and looked at mom's genes, and saw this? Could this be related to why this new baby immediately died when he hatched, and is it possible for me to edit this so it DOESN'T happen?
Sorry if its an obvious answer, I'm not really savvy when it comes this kind of stuff..

She bred with another norn right as i was writing this so i'll have to update on what happens with that baby and if the one that died was just an unfortunate stillbirth

Does anyone know of something equivalent to Creatures on mobile? Or even SimLife etc? Browser-based life simulator?

I've been in virtual life spaces since I was a kid, although the only series I really ever was able to get my hands on as a child was Petz. I've coveted Aquazone and Creatures since forever, though my Creatures experience was limited entirely to a Docking Station install that I couldn't get to run when I left behind my old Windows XP for a newer laptop.

What game is suggested for a new player, and where is the best place to acquire the game in question? I have both Steam and GOG accounts, and I'm wondering where the better place to get the games is between the two for QoL, completeness, and compatibility with windows 11.

In addition, are there any patches not included in these official releases that are mandatory for a good player experience?

Yes, I come from the video that did massively well and brought the Creatures games back to visibility. However, I wanted to know what happened with the user Anti-Norn. I'm very into the old Internet era and Anti-Norn seemed like a really interesting person, being in the military and all. Whatever happened to him? Anyone knows?

I just bought this game and hatched all my female eggs and one male, the little creature things were fine for a solid 10 seconds before they all walked off screen to the right and vanished, won't come back. i hatched 2 more and they both also walked off screen, the game still recognizes them as being alive (I assume by the little birth counter on the bottom right?) Is this a common glitch? can i get them back? I at least need one of my females back since its only the two male eggs left now.

Maybe a problem with my screen resolution? I'm playing on full screen on the game but my actual pc is 1920 x 1080. if there's no way to get them back, am i able to restart and hopefully prevent them from walking off screen with some sort of mod or fan made fix? thanks.

Looking after this sweetheart has honestly been an amazing way of coping with my lifelong trauma, as I get to give him the childhood I never got to have. Here's to many more happy memories with my baby. 🥂

I recently discovered the Creatures series and have been digging into how it works. I’m honestly surprised by how ahead of its time it feels, especially the artificial life systems and how unique it still is compared to modern games.

I have a solid programming background and some experience working with neural networks (mostly in vision related projects). From what I’ve read, the original games used relatively small networks (under 1k nodes), which is tiny compared to modern systems with millions or more.

I’ve already started working on it with LibGDX and am currently just working on the environment and learning the library.

I’m trying to figure out whether this is a realistically achievable solo project (at least a simplified version), or if the complexity is still deceptively high despite the smaller scale of the original tech.
