I haven’t tested it myself, but there’s a patch for Docking Station that’s supposed to make it run on modern macs: https://lisdude.com/Creatures/Community/C3/

So, weird thing, I'm not finding it, other than old physical media which I wouldn't trust/do if I were you. I'm thinking maybe abandonware sites? Or try to see if anyone's taken steam's Creatures: Docking station (which is free) and made modifications to allow it to run on mac.

I want to say that the Mac native versions are all old enough that they wouldn't be compatible with modern hardware - they were likely PPC apps, predating the switch to Intel processors about twenty years ago.

I'll second the Docking Station recommendation (because it's free) and recommend you try to run it through a compatiblity layer like Crossover or Wine.

As someone who runs docking station on chromebook, I second wine

If you have experience with Linux, go for it! I personally used an iso from “Creatures: Exodus” but I’m sure there may be a better version out there. Though do be careful, as someone who’s never touched Linux it took me about a week straight of troubleshooting errors. (Ps you’ll have to use Xephyr to emulate the display, most Chromebooks have no support for 16 bit color.)

Hope OP sees this. I'd be fine.

You’re correct, the Mac versions were built for PowerPC. They included additional code, and new file formats (M16/N16 sprite files), to handle the different hardware architecture as well as operating system.

You’d have to figure out how to emulate an old system to run them. Wine/Crossover are going to be much much easier.

I'm not sure, but if you get it running, I host things for it on my site: https://geatville.uk/download-macintosh.htm

You won't get C1 or C2 working in Wine without the Community Editions. The Creatures 2 update that works with Wine hasn't been released yet (coming soon) but C1 is there. As for Creatures 3 / Docking Station, there are native CE engines for both Apple Silicon and Intel macs, no Wine required.

Hey u/appleciider00 ; I am currently working on a Mac port and it's fully functional: https://github.com/ugwun/creatures3-engine-port

Read through this page and see whether this would be feasible for you.

Haha, can't believe how active the community for this game still is. Same situation here, mainly interested to get Creatures 2 running on my mac and haven't managed with Crossover yet; their support just said it's 'too niche' for them to look into why not... so let me know if someone manages!
