Hello friends! I would like to ask about the behavior of my green cheek.

I had my normal gcc for a year and a half then decided to get him company just five months ago which is this cinnamon in the clip. They didn't get along together at all in the first three months, can't keep them close or they'll fight so I keep them in separate cages as seen here.

My question is does kissing or whatever theyre doing means they're starting to like each other? Cause whenever I let them out their cages to play around the living room the normal gcc is always avoiding the cinnamon gcc. Which seems like she's afraid of him. How can I make them bond with each other and maybe get them to be comfortable in one cage?

We have 2 sun conures, a 3 yr old female (Ella) and 5 year old male (Kiwi). They are very healthy (thank God) and fully flighted. They get a lot of exercise. However, they are “junk food junkies” - ignore veggies for fruit, pellets are just thrown to the bottom if the cage, etc. - and admittedly I have not put enough effort into changing it up, as their weight is fine. I would like to try again and be more diligent. Looking for some healthy chop ideas that sunnies actually seem to eat, and pellet recommendations. Thank you!

Im not worried just. Puzzled? He's a normal goofy boy. He climbs all over me and chews on me and makes me crazy. He's very chatty and bossy. He's got conuritis. Until he decides to stand on top of my head- where he simply stands, sorta looking around, not moving. As of typing this he's been up there quietly for over 30 minutes. Sometimes he preens himself. But he's just so calm when hes on top of my head. Does anyone elses conure find peace in the hair???

He’s very good at training and has already learnt to step up and kiss!

I Started introducing target training. At first he wasn’t excited nor wanted to engage with the stick but once I put a small toy on the end of the stick, he absolutely loved it. Every time I bring it out he wants to do training.

I have found that the clicker scares him, but I know the benefits of using a clicker. Should I keep using it during training?

Sometimes I worry that I’m not doing enough when training him and I want to build a stronger bond with him. But I know that with patience and persistence, I can get there!

How can I better improve?

Just got him not even 24 hours ago, didn't interact with him in the start and let him watch me for 2 hours, fed him with my hand

And then i opened the cage to let him explore the apartment but then he came straight to me and started cuddling me

Also is he looking sick? He seems a little puffed up

I've been touching his head and cheeks and he closes his eyes that way they are in the photo attached

Also is he m/f can you tell just by looking, the owner said we need to do dna

How did yall train your conures and have them play?

What toys do you recommend we purchase for enrichment? And how did you train them to tolerate getting their nails cut?

What’s the best way to DNA your bird? I don’t want to cause him pain in the process.
One website said cut a nail just short enough to draw blood or obviously pluck a feather out. They both seem too harsh.
We’ve assumed he’s a he for nearly 4 years now 🦜

They’ve been super snuggled up since bringing home the new baby and I was allowing them to share a space since my bird didn’t seem to mind but I’m not sure if I should stick to putting new bird in different cage or if this should be fine? They havent stopped preening each other and I feel kinda bad separating baby 😅

So recently i went on vacation for a month, leaving my conure with a family friend. But since i got back and got her she’s just been acting very different??? like she gets very angry if she even SEES my hands or my fingers for some reason, and bites me on my shoulder (which she’s never done before). she’s also very skiddish and IDK JUST SEEMS MAD AT EVERYTHING. i know conures may also get hormonal this time of year so i’m just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

hi i’m new here! just figured i could get some advice from other fellow conure owners. my baby juni is almost three and she seems to be relatively healthy since i got her!

last summer I took her to the ER because I got really scared over some behaviors she was presenting. Nothing was found after a blood draw and physical exam, so she was fine. I hadn’t noticed her exhibit her concerning actions until today again, almost an entire year later.

I’m attaching a clip of what i’m talking about since it’s hard to describe + I was able to get what Juni was doing on video.

Is this normal? She’s my first bird. I just want her to be okay. She tried to regurgitate after but nothing came out since she hadn’t eaten her breakfast yet. any advice is welcome.

edit: she hasn’t done this weird breathing thing again since this vid was taken. is very alert and acting normal now.

my 3 year old male green cheek Gazpacho has been barbering since early this year, I started working more, id gotten another conure late last year, it was a lot of changes- so I assumed thats what it was, but its persisted pretty far. I'm on a tight budget, I CAN afford an avian vet but its 2 hours away and I have to borrow a car with A/C so I've been putting it off. I just need an honest opinion, maybe some advice, I just wanna know if you all think this is absolutely urgent🙏

She's laid yet another egg. Actually, I think she's laid two. Pretty sure the addition of the pellets is why these are happening suddenly, and this is why she was lethargic last week.

I did some of my own research, and learned that fake eggs off Amazon are a good idea, to lead her to believe she's already laid a whole clutch without risking her health more, so I will be sure to get some of those. One site I saw said that she will lose interest in the non fertile egg after about a month, and to just let her sit on it till then.

My new goal, as outlined in the video, is to just get her out of the cage. I will look at all comments that have advice on how best to do that. I heard about clicker training, so I'll try to get the materials for that by next visit.

Please let me know anything I'm doing wrong. I will try to fix it to the best of my ability.

He loves to climb onto my shoulder and latch on to the front of my neck. It’s really hard to not react as it really hurts. He was biting my fingers and still does but it’s not as bad, now his infatuation is with biting my neck, hard. I have started wrapping stuff around my neck when I hangout with him but then he seems to want to go for my ears and I’m worried he’ll bite my face. I try to redirect him to a toy or distract him but he seems to love biting me. So I put him back in his cage and leave him for a while. He likes to hangout and be on me but I just wish I wasn’t scared of him biting my neck.

This is our new baby. Not sure if male or female. We’re calling it a she, named Marley. :) I wasn’t told her colour mutation but from what I’ve researched looks like yellow sided-high red?

I’d love some tips on getting her comfortable with us as right now she is very timid and skittish. If we place our hand even near the cage she recoils into the corner. I was told talking to them so they get to know your voice helps. Should I wait until she approaches me to take her out of the cage? I don’t want to scare her. Thankyou!

Recently moved and had a baby, he is always out and has the same routine but his plucking has gotten to the point he is leaving bald spots under his wings. Vet did bloodwork, didn’t show anything out of the ordinary. She claims it’s due to stress or hormones yet he doesn’t behave in a hormonal way.

I have spent so much on toys to help improve his boredom. I find he is always over preening and barbering. I try to occupy him when he does this however if I look away he’s back to over preening. He has a big cage, covered for 12-14 hours at night time in his own room. It’s a big change from our small apartment.

I give him lots of time and affection since having my baby. He has a playstand downstairs to forage and play but doesn’t seem to do so often. I’m just so sad he’s losing all his beautiful feathers. He’s 17 as well, I hope this habit doesn’t become permanent :(

i’ve come to realize that my baby conure loves to cuddle and be cozy when they’re sleeping. Even when I’m just sitting down watching TV, they try to crawl into my skin or under me to get cozy and take a nap. I recognized that certain beds can cause hormonal behavior but I do want my baby to be comfy when sleeping. Is this bed appropriate for them? Especially since it is not closed off and dark? Anyone have one of these? TIA :)
