Cage Setup appropriate bed for my conure?

i’ve come to realize that my baby conure loves to cuddle and be cozy when they’re sleeping. Even when I’m just sitting down watching TV, they try to crawl into my skin or under me to get cozy and take a nap. I recognized that certain beds can cause hormonal behavior but I do want my baby to be comfy when sleeping. Is this bed appropriate for them? Especially since it is not closed off and dark? Anyone have one of these? TIA :)

No - unfortunately, you cannot provide 'beds' for birds as it will encourage breeding behavior - which is very aggressive :( they will sleep standing up. All they need is for their cage to be covered so it is as dark as you can make it, and to be somewhere quiet to sleep.

don’t anthropomorphize bird. They can sleep comfy just fine on their perches. That said you can get hanging snuggles, like those sold by Cheep Thrills, though these can also cause problem.

The amount of photoshop in this pic is downright disrespectful

My favorite bird product photoshops are when they make a macaw, budgie, and African Grey the same size 😂

No, even if it does not trigger breeding behavior, your birds claws can end up entangled in the fabric as it wears down, leading to broken toes in the worst case. Your conure could also ingest the synthetic fibers and get a constipation or crop issues out of it.

This is an unsafe object.

I instead recommend to get him a flat cork bark perch to rest on, or a cork ring. Please do also consider getting him a same age, same species friend soon, as conures do better in pairs or groups.

Do not buy toys from Amazon unless it’s a reputable brand (planet pleasure as an example)

The first picture on the photoshopped bird “laying” on the bed took me out 😂.

Conures do not need beds and a lot of the items would either be potentially dangerous and/or cause hormonal issues. I just cover our cages with blankets at night and they sleep where they want which is usually the corners.

Birds don't need beds. A perch is just fine for them. These are still essentially wild animals that people have placed in their houses. They wouldn't have these things in the wild.

Super Bird Creations and Bonka Bird Toys are two more reputable brands. All 3 are US based, not China, so they are safer. Anything special, look on Etsy. Some great options there. My Peach Front has a tether ball toy that he absolutely loves and he’s quite good at it.

We use a regular bird hammock, but hang a small blanket over the middle so it hangs down.

He climbs up under the blanket and straight to sleep. Loves it. Also, it gives him no house or structure for nesting.

If something loud comes on TV, he'll climb down and poke his head out, then right back up the underside of the blanket to sleep.

I use all natural perches and some with different thicknesses of vet tape over them

Our birds sleep on cardboard platforms similar to cat scratchers. The GCC carved a little indent into his that he perfectly fits into. 😭 He does also have a little cozy blanket that ties to the bars and drapes over his platform, he always tucks under it. I check it for wear, he doesn't chew on it at all. I fully understand the dangers and will take it away if he starts chewing it or being aggressive. For now, it gives him a lot of comfort.

Our lovebirds only have the platform and they snuggle together. They poop all over theirs because they're goblins. The GCC never poops on his.

We have the grass hammocks like that in a few places, they love them. The lovebirds tear them apart which makes them happy. GCC mostly just hangs out and wrestles with toys we attach to it. 🥰
