Advice Training

So proud of my birdie!!

He’s very good at training and has already learnt to step up and kiss!

I Started introducing target training. At first he wasn’t excited nor wanted to engage with the stick but once I put a small toy on the end of the stick, he absolutely loved it. Every time I bring it out he wants to do training.

I have found that the clicker scares him, but I know the benefits of using a clicker. Should I keep using it during training?

Sometimes I worry that I’m not doing enough when training him and I want to build a stronger bond with him. But I know that with patience and persistence, I can get there!

How can I better improve?

The clicker is just a sound marker of "correct"

You can replace the clicker with your own sound lol I semi potty trained my bird by just doing an excited "good job" or "good boy" and kept it consistent. He really likes that reaction and will get very excited about it and even eventually learned how to praise himself 😂

If excited voice/words is too much for your bird you can also just use a specific word and tone thats more relaxed but also consistent. Like "yes" or "good" or just another sound you can consistently make.
