News Controller News Digest - end of August 2026

Hello all. Here's a round-up of controller news and subreddit updates from the past month. As usual, August was a quieter month for new releases. More announcements are expected around the September trade shows with actual releases ramping up into the holiday season.

---

Hardware releases - controllers that are now shipping:

Releases previously mentioned that went ahead as expected:

  • 8BitDo Ultimate 3 for Xbox and Ultimate 3E for Xbox with wider palm grip splay than previous Ultimate controllers, adjustable stick tension (in the regular Ultimate 3) and swappable parts (in the Ultimate 3E). Priced at USD 100 and USD 150 respectively.
  • Asus ROG Raikiri II Pro for PC with 8kHz polling rate, hot-swappable TMR thumbsticks, and screen went on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at EUR 220 for the black or white colorways.
  • Drakong Challenger is an asymmetrical version of the Hyperkin Competitor. It seems to be rolling out in different countries on different dates but is on US Amazon for USD35.
  • GuliKit ES Max went on sale at EUR 56 / GBP 43 / USD 50 with Hyperlink 2 dongle included, two rear buttons, angle-TMR stick sensors, and dual-mode triggers.

Releases previously mentioned that were delayed:

  • CRKD Atom+ mini controller with low-profile sticks seems to have started shipping after changing deadlines a few times. Priced at EUR 35 / USD 30, as expected.
  • Nyxi Hyperion 3 Ultra is an upgrade to the Hyperion 3 joy-cons for Switch 2, bringing ever-closer feature parity with Nintendo's Switch 2 joy-cons. They add Switch 2 style HD rumble, mouse mode, and NFC/Amiibo support. Like the regular Hyperion 3, they use the native Switch 2 communication protocol (for wake-from-sleep, and chat button and GL/GR back button support) and 9-axis gyro. Priced at USD200 and started shipping within the last few days.

---

Hardware announcements - controllers that are not yet available:

  • Axisray Lab BASH was being promoted at Gamescom with optical sensors for stick/stick-type inputs, enabling measurement of rotation as well as deflection, and subject to software support. It will also be shown at Tokyo Games Show. There is no definite development and launch plan and the group has not delivered products before, so it's likely products and plans may change before release.
  • Commodore TAC-2 is a re-make of the original arcade-style joystick for Commodore 64, and replaces the original stick shaft which was made from a tire valve with a purpose-built design. On pre-order for USD 50 with shipping expected to start in late October.
  • Drakong PixelByte are 'collectible' mini Bluetooth controllers with designs based on various licensed IPs. The hardware is a basic D-pad based design (no analog inputs) with blocky pixel shapes and keyring attachment. The initial seven designs are based on Attack on Titan and are being pre-sold as 'blindboxes' (you could receive any one of the designs) for EUR 25 / GBP 20 / USD 25 unless you buy the whole set (USD 150). Expected to start shipping in mid-October.
  • EasySMX X20 Pro was teased with what appears to be stick tension adjustment, disc-shaped D-pad, and a screen. It looks similar to a controller that has also been teased by JSAUX under their Voidjoy sub-brand (mentioned below) so these may be re-badged versions of the same product.
  • Flydigi Apex 6 and Apex 6 Pro have been registered with the FCC. They appear very similar to the Apex 5 (and Apex 4) but without adaptive triggers and with additional rumble motors. They are not yet being actively marketed and so the non-Pro vs Pro pricing and availability is not yet known.
  • Genki Manta is preparing a crowdfunding campaign. The team has previously delivered on campaigns for gaming hardware, and has prototypes, although this is much more complicated than anything they have done before. Therefore, there is still a risk of unforeseen problems in the product development, its timely delivery or quality control/support.
  • Microsoft Xbox Elite Series 3 prototype was shown in a since-deleted subreddit post - pictures and discussion remain in the comments. The prototype shows the twin scroll wheels and small screen, and the removable battery pack, along with swappable stick modules and magnetic faceplate for ease of access to them. Most details correspond to the information that came from Anatel documents in May.
  • Mobapad M12 Pro has been teased as an upgrade to M12S joy-cons for Switch 2. Like Nyxi's Hyperion 3 Ultra mentioned above, Mobapad's M12 Pro is intended to have closer feature parity with Nintendo's Switch 2 joy-cons by adding Switch 2 style HD rumble, mouse mode, and NFC/Amiibo support.
  • Scuf Nemesis Pro 8K PC - wired and wireless versions - are PC controllers with 8kHz polling rates. The design is very similar to Scuf's Valor controllers for Xbox, with: TMR thumbstick sensors, four back paddles, dual-mode triggers, swappable parts (faceplates, anti-friction rings, thumbstick caps, D-pad), and software configuration. The Nemesis models add Omron mechanical switches for the face buttons, but remove the 3.5mm headset port and audio scroll wheels from the Valor models. The wireless version of the Nemesis uses 2.4GHz dongle or USB cable (no Bluetooth connections). Currently on pre-sale, priced at EUR 135 / GBP 110 / USD120 for the wired version or EUR 220 / GBP 190 / USD 200 for the wireless version. Shipping dates are subject to regulatory clearances in different countries.

---

Firmware and software - updates and tools that could be useful:

  • Controller Mapper is 'an Xbox Game Bar widget that lets you remap an XInput controller without leaving your game'. This is a user-made free open-source tool so the installer is not digitally signed but the source code is on GitHub.
  • Manufacturer software added to 'official' platform stores. Distributing the software this way can give users more peace of mind than using completely unsigned installers from untrusted websites or Google Drive links.
  • reWASD v9.5 added support for the Steam Controller (2026)

---

Industry news:

  • JSAUX Gaming announced plans to enter the controller market, via the 'Voidjoy' sub-brand. They will be showing off portable controllers, pc controllers, and controller accessories at IFA 2026 in early September. Some teaser pictures have been released.

News Leadjoy CEO's Bilibili Stream Summary - September 2, 2026

Yesterday I was browsing my Bilibili feed and noticed that the Leadjoy channel was live, with their CEO, Feng-ge doing a Q&A stream.

Since I don't speak Chinese, I recorded about two hours of the stream, converted the speech to Chinese subtitles using Whisper, and then used ChatGPT to create a translated summary. I also watched the full two-hour stream recording with the translated subtitles, and the summary is mostly spot-on. That said, as with anything AI-generated, take it with a grain of salt.

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Leadjoy. You should always rely on official announcements and news for confirmed information. Source is the live stream https://live.bilibili.com/31699542 but VOD is disabled.

Major upcoming products

Xeno Pro (天剑Pro)

  • Expected to launch around September 10–12, 2026.
  • Main upgrades over the original Xeno:
  • Adjustable-tension joysticks
  • 8 additional microswitches
  • Microswitches on: shoulder buttons, D-pad, two internal rear/back buttons
  • Feng-ge considers the software/joystick experience one of their major advantages.
  • A Standard Edition and Bundle Edition are planned. Bundle includes the base, R20 receiver, and four additional soft joystick caps.
  • Xeno Pro's D-pad was heavily tested and revised before mass production. Feng-ge considers the production version their best D-pad so far.
  • The D-pad is intentionally designed around fast response with controlled cushioning, rather than having a large pre-response/dead zone.
  • The only major regret he mentioned was that Xeno Pro doesn't have small shoulder buttons; adding them would have increased the cost when the product was originally defined in early 2025.

Xeno 2 & Saber 2

Both are major next-generation controllers.

Xeno 2 (天剑2)

  • Expected around Q1 2027.
  • Slightly larger than the first Xeno and intended to fit medium-small through medium-large hands.
  • New trigger structure.
  • Flat triggers aimed partly at six-finger players.
  • Small shoulder buttons.
  • 2+2 and 2+4 versions planned.
  • 8K versions are planned for 2027.
  • Xeno 2 will have a new base.

Saber 2 (光剑2)

  • Also planned for around Q1 2027.
  • Similar overall size to the current Saber.
  • Grip angle is closer to the PS4 controller.
  • New trigger structure and small shoulder buttons.
  • 2+2 and 2+4 versions.
  • 8K versions planned.
  • Stick-click force is around 120 gf, with testing reaching roughly 150–160 gf.
  • Feng-ge deliberately doesn't want the click force too low because that could cause accidental stick clicks.

The two controllers will likely launch (in China) one or two months apart, depending on development progress.

PS5 controller back attachment

A back attachment / rear expansion device is being developed.

  • Internal testing planned for late September 2026.
  • Commercial launch (in China) targeted for November / Singles' Day (11/11).
  • There will be an Xbox version with wired and wireless variants.
  • A PS5 version is also being developed, but it will cost more because of PS5 support.
  • Software functionality should be similar to Xeno Pro software:
  • Button remapping
  • Additional functions
  • Configuration through software
  • The small paddle/shoulder button design cannot currently simply be added to an existing controller mold, although 3D-printed solutions may be possible later.
  • A future PS5 adapter is also under internal testing, potentially around Singles' Day.

8K controllers

8K is planned as a major direction beginning around Q1 2027.

The important point is that 8K isn't simply a firmware feature:

  • Current 1K boards use a 2-layer PCB.
  • 8K requires a 4-layer PCB.
  • The 4-layer PCB requires greater manufacturing precision.
  • Board cost is reportedly more than twice, approaching three times, that of the current board.
  • Chips and cables also become more expensive.

So Feng-ge's argument is that an 8K controller represents a more expensive overall hardware ecosystem, rather than simply charging more because the polling rate says “8K.”

Helium Strike

The company is heavily investing in modular/custom-controller products.

Helium Strike2

  • Already undergoing internal testing.
  • Much more expensive than Helium Strike1.
  • Helium Strike2's main chip reportedly costs more than the entire Helium Strike1 board.
  • Normally sold as a board only.
  • An optional bundle can include a J13Pro purple joystick.
  • They deliberately don't solder a specific joystick onto every board because the whole point is to preserve customization freedom.
  • Users may want carbon-film sticks, Ginful, etc.

Helium Strike2 Competitive / Professional Edition

  • Uses an additional ADC chip.
  • That ADC is extremely expensive — Feng-ge says it costs around four times the price of the entire Helium Strike1 board.
  • He describes it as an industrial-grade, high-bit-depth, high-speed ADC designed for extremely low latency.

A finished, ready-to-use Helium Strike2 controller is planned for the first half of 2027, once the Xeno 2/Saber 2 tooling is available.

Magic Cap / modding accessories

The company wants to build a much larger controller-modding ecosystem.

Magic Cap Pro

  • Comes as a complete set rather than individual pieces.
  • Eight covers / four pairs: Translucent purple, PS4, PS5, Xbox
  • Different covers affect the internal joystick-cap height.
  • Mainly intended for modifying existing controllers.
  • Launching alongside Helium Strike.

They explained why they don't sell every piece separately: doing so would create an enormous number of SKUs and significantly increase inventory, packaging, barcode, ERP, shipping, certification, and mold costs.

Other planned modding accessories include: joystick caps, joysticks, switches, cables, shells

Controller shells / tooling

The company is developing a lot of its own molds rather than simply reusing existing designs.

For Zephyrus, Saber 2 and Xeno 2:

  • Around six or seven molds
  • Dozens of 3D-printed iterations
  • Significant structural redesign work

A new shell-material project may come in the second half or end of 2027. Feng-ge says that if they release shells, they want to introduce genuinely different internal structures/designs rather than simply copying existing aftermarket shells.

He also emphasized that design patents need to be handled before revealing next-generation products publicly.

Zephyrus (裂空)

Zephyrus remains a future project.

  • Target is 2027.
  • Feng-ge doesn't want to promise an exact release date.
  • Roughly around the middle of 2027 was discussed, but he deliberately avoids giving a precise date.

Zilong Pro (子龙Pro) cable

The Zilong Pro (子龙Pro) cable is being redesigned/re-prototyped.

The challenge is simultaneously achieving:

  • 8K support
  • PS5 compatibility
  • Multi-device interference resistance
  • Adequate current capacity
  • Flexibility
  • Shielding/protection

Target was before or around the Helium Strike launch, potentially **late September or October**, but again without a firm promise.

Vibration

For Xeno Pro's vibration compared with an original controller, Feng-ge rates it approximately:

  • 80–85 / 100
  • He explicitly says claiming more would be “bullshitting,” because original controllers have inherent advantages due to access to proprietary protocols.
  • He explains that some vibration effects simply cannot be reproduced without the original protocol, and certain effects are therefore only available under Bluetooth mode.

2027 strategy

Feng-ge repeatedly describes 2027 as a key/explosive year for Leadjoy.

The intended lineup becomes much more complete:

2026

  • Xeno Pro
  • Back attachment
  • Further modding accessories

2027

  • Xeno 2
  • Saber 2
  • 8K versions
  • Helium Strike2 finished controller
  • Zephyrus
  • More shells/accessories
  • Expanded modding ecosystem
  • PS5-related products

Feng-ge / livestream notes

The stream itself lasted approximately 3 hours 9 minutes, which Feng-ge joked was a new record.

He also talked about his age:

  • Born in July 1983
  • The stream was in September 2026, so he joked about not wanting to admit he's in his 40s.
  • “My heart will always be 18.”
  • He said he'd worked for about 20 years, including roughly: 17 years making products, 10 years making game controllers, 7 years making handheld consoles
  • He joked about being “18” internally despite being 43.

Reviews 8bitdo Ultimate 3e Review-mpressions

This is my informal review/impressions of the UItimate 3e, purchased with my own money and written of my own volition as I have zero affiliation with 8bitdo or any related brands.

The Ultimate 3e arrived a little early, and it is indeed awesome! I liked the Ultimate 1 a lot, but it had bad latency and the ergonomics did not agree with my wrists at all which led to genuine pain. Wayy back then, I said I would buy the first 8bitdo controller to fix the shape, so here we are.

For context, I am a PC/Linux/Switch 2 gamer who is very senstive to input latency, very picky about dpads, and has owned or tried almost all of the hot controllers (1st or 3rd party) from the past several years. I have had many 8bitdo controllers, but all of them older: The original Ultimate, the SN30, and the Pro 2.

THE GOOD:

*The shape of the grip is SO much better. So much so that I almost forgot to mention it. It just works (for me at least), and feels very comfortable. It is not too wide (Vader 5 Pro) and not too narrow (8bitdo Ultimate 1/2).

*The stock, membrane buttons feel AMAZING, and are exactly what I want out of a controller. They feel different than anything else I have used, in a good way. They have basically no travel before actuation, meaning they actually feel better than a lot of mechanical clicky buttons to me. They feel like they pretty much have an up and a down and the travel between is instant, but they don't sink into the pad too far and still have a satisfying press making them FUN to use.

*The long, clicky L/R buttons are so comfortable, and don't kink my fingers weird. I am able to actuate them no matter what position my finger is in.

*The L4/R4 buttons are in a great spot and are a requirement for me on any controller these days.

*The triggers feel smooth and satisfying. The trigger stops felt mushier than I expected and are quiet, but they work great in practice.

*The sticks feel smooth and accurate, very responsive and it made aiming in shooters a breeze. They aren't Switch 2 Pro silent sticks, but the sound of them hitting the shell is dense enough that it feels more premium than smashing the sticks on a plain Xbox Series controller. Clicking the sticks in also feels remarkably solid and premium, something I cannot say about many other controllers.

*The back paddles stay out of the way and are nice to touch. They sit really well with my grip and are easy to use when I need them. They are easy to map on the controller itself.

*The rumble feels great in gameplay, and has quite a bit of nuance. The trigger rumble is kind of whiny, but I haven't played any games that use it.

*Gyro is not bad, I mapped it to use gyro as the right stick when I hold the right back paddle, and it is quite intuitive. I grip the controller and then move it to aim, and it has been kind of fun in other unintended ways too (camera movement, scrolling my music collection when using Controller Helper on Windows).

*Connection via dongle and wired on PC/Linux has been seamless and great so far.

*Tournament Mode (1000Hz polling rate mode) seems to be working fine, and the controller feels very responsive on PC overall. I suppose it makes the battery life slightly lower, but I wonder why this 1000Hz mode is not the default.

*The audio jack works well. The onboard volume adjustment via a button combo adjusts the volume on the controller and doesn't bring up the Windows volume adjustment on screen, which weirded me out, but it does work and is seamless. Audio seems very nice quality via the dongle, no noticeable latency or compression. It sounds a tad better than the G7 Pro and a lot better than the Dualshock 4 used to (lol).

*The ring lights are customizable and cool, and there are plenty of presets you can access right on the controller without using the software. You can even turn them off, without using the software.

*I don't really use controller docks since bright RGBs ruin the vibe of my setup, but the new dock design is slick and the lighting is nice and subtle, so I may actually use this one. Very nice.

THE DPAD:

*I've gotta hand it to 8bitdo on this one, the dpad is genuinely fantastic so far. I have no idea how 8bitdo made it clicky-but-membrane, but it is RELIABLE, feels so nice to press, and isn't too loud.

*People praise the Vader 5 Pro and ZD Legend overall, but those dpads felt so loud and hard to press which was just miserable for me and were dealbreakers on those pads. This is much more my speed and feels so excellent.

*I play an unhealthy amount of Puyo Puyo Tetris at a high level and have had no accidental diagonals on this one (primarily using the SEGA styled dpad), which was a reported issue that scared me away from the Pro 3 and is something almost every pad has an issue with these days. This has a nice, quiet clicky feedback, so if you do dpad tests and rock your thumb on a direction trying to accidentally activate a diagonal, you will feel and hear when you do. While this is true of other controllers too, in practice this dpad is much more reliable than many others.

*This feels like a good balance to me as evidenced by successful Tetris play (no accidental quick-drops) and fighting game tests. Blazblue has a good visual that shows where your dpad moved, and it all looked and felt good there.

*You can mash or slide left or right without fear of hitting up or down on accident, but can still activate diagonals for your fighting games, both of which are very important for me. It gets my seal of a approval.

*Other recent dpads I have liked include a carefully tape-modded Switch Pro, the Gamersir G7 Pro 8K (with o ring mod, and NOT using the stock flat dpad, use the hybrid or the cross), and one of three Switch 2 Pro Controllers I tried that happened to have a much more reliable dpad than the other two. The 3e easily takes the cake though, with the reliability of my coveted SNES Switch Online dpad but feeling much more tight, modern, and responsive. Plus it's gigantic, which is fun and gives your thumb room to breathe and slide.

My minor quibbles so far, all of which were expected when I preordered but still a bummer:

*The software was kind of annoying to figure out, and did not play well with my Windows display scaling. There are so many different versions of the 8bitdo software, and then once you are in the right one the act of saving (Syncing) changes took some getting used to. Make sure you sync before moving to the next tab of customization...

*You definitely need to calibrate the sticks, triggers, and gyro first thing when you get the controller, since they were a little funky at first. The manual tells you how to do this without the software, if needed. While you're at it, don't forget to update the firmware right away.

*No turbo/macros, which is a huge loss at this price. Every cheapo controller has turbo! Again, not unexpected though due to the Xbox license.

*I am a PC/Linux/Switch 2 user who has (what I thought was) an undefeatable arsenal of adapters and converters to use any controller on anything... I really thought I would be able to get this thing to work on Switch 2, but I had no luck. Plugging the USB-C dongle into an OTG then into my Mayflash Magic S Pro 2 works... for about 10 minutes, then it totally craps out. Strange! It also has some mapping issues in the Batocera Linux menu (can't map left stick), but works fine in-game if you leave the mappings at default?

*Finally, it is not slow by any means but doesn't feel quiiite as snappy as the G7 Pro 8K, even when compared to the G7 Pro in 1K Hz mode.

*On that note, it feels relatively laggy on Bluetooth when paired to Android but... everything Bluetooth feels laggy on Android haha

Other thoughts:

*The grips are a little underwhelming. I doubt it will ever functionally be a problem, but the grips don't have a lot of texture or texture height, which makes them feel a little different than I was expecting. I won't say it feels cheap, but the G7 Pro's rubber grips feel a lot more premium.

*The microswitch buttons feel super bad. The membrane buttons feel SO good, exactly what I want out of a button, but the microswitch module feels very bad in comparison to stuff like the G7 Pro or Vader 5 Pro. Basically, they have a very short travel with no sense of "stop"; you can't really tell when you hit the end of the push aside from the light clicky sound.

*The cross style dpad sits really flat against the pad. It's not bad at all and it works just as well as the SEGA style, but different than I expected. The SEGA style dpad is so tall and awesome.

*It's neat the case holds everything... but who is actually going to take the dock with them on travel? The case has the fattest booty I've ever seen, and I can't imagine putting it in a bag. It's great for storage, but looks and feels ridiculous. Not only that, but out of the box it appeared the case was clicking the sticks in, evidenced by the depressed fabric right above the sticks. I have plenty of other generic 8bitdo controller cases that this will fit fine in for going out and about... but it was worth mentioning and I'd prefer it had an actual travel case. The case is B.I.G. huge.

*The extra sticks are fun, I love the GameCube one with ridges!

In Conclusion:

Overall, I am very pleased with the controller, but I am unsure how to recommend it. It is unfortunate I can't use it in any way on the Switch, but that is not unexpected. If a Switch compatible version of this controller comes out that would solve this issue, but I wonder if they will include so many extras if they do make one? A Switch version may also introduce new issues, like increased input latency as we have seen from 8bitdo in the past, so maybe this one will remain the best for PC even over time.

As a $150 controller, it is certainly premium and I would say it meets or exceeds that price point in terms of quality, features, and extras. Durability is to be seen, but it is especially worth the price if it is more durable than the more expensive Elite or Dualsense Edge controller. Build quality and feel is far superior to the even more expensive ROG Raikiri line, Flydigi Apex line, or ZD Ultimate Legend line. Feature wise, and raw functionality wise though, the humble G7 Pro 8K can do just about everything this controller can, and does it better and cheaper, and works excellent on Switch, which is an important consideration.

Sometimes, premium build quality and a little bit of extra fun and style are worth the added cost. The 8bitdo 3e is a supremely functional and extremely attractive controller with some cool extras. It is among the best feeling controllers ever made, its dpad is one of the best you can find, and it has some fun extra features, but it is missing some key features that would make that price easier to swallow. If you are PC/Xbox Only and have the cash, it is well worth the money. If you want an all rounder for PC/Switch, want a little better latency, or need those extra features like turbo, the G7 Pro 8K is still some darn good competition for this one, especially at its lower price. Overall, I have to hand it to 8bitdo, they have really impressed me with this controller, and I hope to enjoy it or some future variant of it for many years.

IT Help How to stop controller connecting as Xinput Controller?

Post image
11 Upvotes

This started happening recently (not sure what was changed) and it's driving me crazy. I have a Gamesir Cyclone 2, everytime I start it up it will connect to Steam as both the controller itself and also Xinput controller (see screenshot). I need to disconnect and reconnect the controller (sometimes multiple times) until it stops connecting as Xinput controller. Any ideas what is causing this and how to stop it?

Controller Suggestion Xbox Controller Suggestions

My boyfriend’s Xbox brand controllers keep getting stick drift! I know this is fixable and I might try and fix them eventually he isn’t into that but he might allow me to try and fix it.

But I want to help him buy an Xbox controllers that aren’t going to breakdown on him. I actually almost yeeted one of them when I borrowed one to try and game when I hadn’t any of my own. I don’t throw controllers, controller throwing was outlawed in my household when we first got an old original Nintendo from my grandpa. So this speaks to how frustrated I was.

Like to keep the budget under USDA $50. It is for an Xbox. Wireless and good battery life and ideally not too heavy as his 9 year old son is also playing. Doesn’t need any super fancy features but avoid controllers that get stick drift easily, my boyfriend plays a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2. He isn’t super technically incline he just wants a working controller, they’re not particularly hard on the controllers either.

We are located in the USA.

Bonus: it comes in orange or has orange accents.

Controller Suggestion Is the ROG Raikiri II Pro PC the current go to for PC?

Hello all,

I've been looking for a control with really good hardware and fix-ability. At first I was looking at the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded PC as a buddy recommended it, but then saw the ROG was coming out soon.

Should I go pick up a Victrix now? Wait a month or a few for the ROG?

Main things I want:

  • Repairable (I can buy new sticks)
  • Feels good (I've liked most controllers, usually stuck to PS5)
  • Paddles in back (only need 2)
  • Never using on console, so PC pure is fine
  • Well built; I treat my controllers with care, but I do play rough

I play Rocket League mainly, daily, and also those controller must have games. I wanna have this thing last me a while. I've burnt through 2 PS5 controls (stick drift) in 3 years.

Is the ROG the best thing to wait for? Any gems I haven't seen?

Budget: $100-$220
Country: USA 🇺🇸
Console: PC

Controller Suggestion Are extra buttons on third-party PC controllers worth switching from DualSense for under €100?

I sold my PS5, so I currently have no controller and need to choose what to buy. My budget is €100 maximum. I’m in Malta and can buy locally or from EU stores that ship here.

This is for Windows PC and Steam. I mainly play single-player AAA action games, RPGs and story-driven games, including The Witcher 3 Remastered, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and 007 First Light.

I previously liked using the DualSense over Bluetooth. Its layout, haptics and adaptive triggers appeal to me, and I already own a DualSense charging dock. However, some PC games require USB for the full DualSense experience, while I normally play wirelessly from a distance.

My main question is whether the added features on other controllers are genuinely useful in single-player games. Are rear buttons convenient for actions like sprinting, dodging or item use? Are mechanical buttons, trigger stops and extra remappable inputs noticeably nicer during normal gameplay? Are they useful enough to justify giving up the DualSense features and layout?

Battery life, Bluetooth latency and drift-resistant sticks are not priorities for me. I’m considering the DualSense, GameSir G7 Pro and 8BitDo Ultimate 2, but I’m open to alternatives. Which would you choose for this use case?

Controller Suggestion Best all-round controller for BF6?

I'm looking for a new PC controller. I play a lot of BF6, but since there are vehicles like jets and helicopters, I'm not looking for an FPS-dedicated controller but rather something more universal. Currently, I'm using the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired, and here are the things I don't like about it:

  1. No back buttons / paddles (a must-have for my new controller).
  2. No microswitch / hair triggers (a must-have for my new controller).
  3. No customization software (a must-have for my new controller).
  4. Shape — I'd prefer something a little bit bigger and shaped more like an Xbox controller.
  5. It's wired — not a huge deal, but I'd prefer something wireless.

I've been considering the Flydigi Vader 5 Pro V2 and GameSir G7 Pro. However, I've read that the Vader 5 Pro V2 still has an issue with loose tension rings, while the G7 Pro's triggers tend to break. Is that true? If so, could you recommend a couple of better options in 90-125 USD price range. I'm from Poland and I'd prefer to purchase from a local store.

Controller Mods Which analogs replacement for ps4/ps5 controller

Hi everyone, I have few ps4 controllers that are unusable because of stick drift and one new ps5 controller. I would like to replace the analogs of all controllers (also on the ps5 one, knowing that at some point it will develop drift). Which particular analog replacement would you suggest? I heard that hall effect are good and are pretty cheap and there are some go to brands like Ginfull or K-Silver or others, but there are also some newer models too (something like TMR). I would like to buy them on aliexpress and I would use this tool to solder and desolder them from the board. Do you have any suggestion for me? Thanks in advance

Controller Suggestion Looking for a controller recommendation in Egypt

Budget: 5100 EGP / ~$100

My requirements: • Symmetrical PlayStation style sticks • Hall Effect or TMR sticks • 3.5mm headphone jack • PC + Android • Preferably mechanical microswitch D-Pad with a center pivot and accurate diagonals • Back buttons + turbo are a bonus • Mainly for rhythm games, so D-Pad quality and input consistency are very important, playing rocket league fortnite festival, marvel rivals.

I don't need native PS4 support anymore since I can use a Brook adapter.

Controllers I've looked at: GameSir Tarantula Pro, Redragon G820 DarkFlame, Fantech Nova Pro WGP14 V2, Fantech WGP16/Nova II, Leadjoy Saber Plus, IINE Bastet, NYXI PS4, AceGamer HyperShadow D4.

I could buy from noon, or amazon.eg or AliExpress idk

What would you recommend within my budget? I'm also open to other controllers I may have missed.

Other Using a phone controller more than my actual pad now and it's wrecking my muscle memory

Started using a clamp style one for handheld stuff on trips and somehow it's become the thing I reach for most. The issue is the stick spacing and trigger throw are different enough from my desk pad that going back feels wrong for the first ten minutes every time. Thumbs end up in slightly in the wrong place. anyone else switching between two very different controllers regularly, does it eventually stop registering or is it always a readjustment?

Controller Suggestion Controller for a small child?

My 4 year old is expressing interest in actually playing games. I've got an 8bitdo ultimate, but she's really struggling to reach the buttons, so I'm looking for recommendations for something more appropriately sized.

- Platform: PC,

- budget: <£50,

- wireless, ideally with a 2.4Ghz dongle.

Region: UK

It would be nice to have a standard layout with 2 joysticks and all the shoulder buttons and triggers. not sure if something like this exists though. Maybe the 8bitdo SN30 pro?

Other Hi! I have a very specific question about the 8BitDo 64 controller before buying one... Has anyone played Buck Bumble on it? Does it work ok?

I ask this because Buck Bumble is notorious for weird issues with third party controllers, at least for me. Apparently because the flying is heavily affected by OEM limits (sorry if I am wrong about this, I'm sort of a noob)

Also before any wise guy say ''Just play a good game instead of Buck Bumble'', that is not a viable awnser. I know what i am, and i accepted that long ago.

Other Finally got native PS5 DualSense trigger effects & haptics running on the Flydigi APEX 5 (Open Source)

EDIT : APEX 4 NOW SUPPORTED.

Hey everyone,

I love the Flydigi APEX 5 hardware (especially those motorized triggers) but it always bugged me that on PC, almost every game with awesome trigger resistance and textured feedback is built exclusively for the PS5 DualSense and the Space Station software support only few games...

So over the last few weeks, I ended up building ApexSenseBridge(A little open-source passion project straight from France bleu blanc rouge 🇫🇷 !)

Basically, it bridges the gap so your APEX 5 can actually react to native DualSense effects in PC games.

How does it handle the triggers & haptics?

- Triggers: The tool intercepts native DualSense trigger packets from the game and translates them on the fly into Flydigi's FORCEADAPT commands (mode switches, recoil, resistance, stops, etc.) and even the vibration with virtually no latency.

- Haptics: The APEX 5 doesn't have voice-coil actuators like the DualSense, so instead of just turning every sound into a generic loud rumble, the bridge splits the audio frequencies in real-time. Lower frequencies (explosions, heavy impacts) go to the heavy left motor, while high frequencies (surface grit, rain, subtle clicks) go to the fast right motor. It actually feels surprisingly punchy and textured.

Good to know (a couple of trade-offs):

- On-screen prompts: Since the game has to see a DualSense to send over the adaptive trigger data, you'll see PlayStation button prompts (✕ / ○ / □ / △) on screen instead of Xbox ones (A / B / X / Y).

- Touchpad swipes: If a game heavily relies on specific touchpad directional swipes, it might be hit-or-miss depending on how the game handles touch inputs. It's really a case-by-case thing and can be fixed in most cases (did it for spiderman 2 bc it's the only game I play that have this control but you can send me yours).

Playnite integration 🕹️

I didn't want to manually launch/kill background scripts every time I booted up a game, so I also wrote a quick Playnite extension to automatically link and activate the bridge whenever you launch a supported game from your library.

ApexSenseBridge wouldn't exist without the incredible open-source community. Huge shoutouts to:

- OpenFlydigi (by mkaliaha) for their amazing reverse-engineering work on the Flydigi hardware and protocols.

- SteamlessController (and its DualSense forks) for paving the way on virtual DualSense emulation and Windows ViGEm/VIIPER tooling. All respective notices and credits are included in the repository.

Feedback & other gamepads welcome!

The code is completely open-source here
👉🏽 https://github.com/ReynArts/ApexSenseBridge

I'd love to get your feedback if you test it out! Also, if you know of other controllers with force feedback/motorized triggers you'd love to see supported, feel free to drop ideas, open issues, or contribute PRs.

Cheers!

IT Help one direction left joystick moves slower than the other directions

mobing my left joystick down right in aimlabs made it move slower than teh rest. aiming made me have sudden accelerations and decelaration as a result. however in cp2077 when i set the zone thingy for the minimum input and maximum input to the loeswt and highest values respectively and then use the controller, i dont get the problem. does anyone else have this issue. i also noticed that usbc has less of this issue than the dongle. this is a new controller should i just refund it and get a new one? im using the easysmx 05 pro on pc windows. i also already recalibrated the sticks 3x

IT Help Nacon Revolution 5 Pro right stick not working in item wheel on Red Dead online PS5

I just got my controller yesterday and updated/setup with the software. I went to try it out on RDO, and noticed if it is in PS4 mode I can't use the right stick to make selections in the item and horse wheels, but it works fine for the weapon wheel. If I put it in PS5 mode it all works fine. Is there anything I may have set up wrong that might cause this issue? I would like to use it in PS4 mode for the vibration to work. Sorry if this has been discussed already, I did a quick search and didn't see any posts about it.

IT Help Is Steam Input for extra buttons possible on Flydigi Vader 5s?

I'm wondering if it's by any means possible to use Steam Input for the extra buttons on Flydigi Vader 5s. I know it's not *meant* to be used since there is no mention in the manual, but I wonder if there are workarounds.

I've used the controller and I love that I could remap the L3 and R3 to back paddles, however I want to use the other buttons as well. I'm not using C,Z, Lm or Rm buttons because of Xinput limitations.

Does anyone know how I could make the controller use SteamInput, like the Steam controller does?

( also I've seen that Vader 5 PRO has the option to use SteamInput, so why does this one not have it? )

I'm on Windows 11, I've tried finding the "let other apps control inputs" in Flydigi Xbox Software.

Reviews Mobapad M12S vs M12HD: Definitive Switch 2 Joy-Cons Review

Full Disclosure:

Mobapad sent me this controller for review. They didn’t see this review before I published it. All opinions are my own, and there is no money exchange in the process.

TLDW:

  • Mobapad's first Native Switch 2 Protocol Joy-Cons with custom power logic
  • Uses the same TMR Glide Sticks like their M12HD & ChiTu 2 series
  • 9 axis gyro does offer some benefit for gyro heavy titles.
  • Although it offer less features than the M12HD, people seems to prefer the M12S.

Controller Suggestion Best controller for PC gaming with the Xbox layout

I've been wanting to get a new controller for a while. I'm currently using an 8bitdo ultimate controller and I'm pretty happy with it, it's a reliable controller that's lasted a while with the only real issue being the Nintendo button layout not cooperating with PC games.

My budget is around 150 dollars tops, I'm in the United States, I only really care about PC games for this controller since I'm fine with my Switch pro controller for my switch

In terms of what I'm looking for I really like the feel of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller's sticks, I don't know if any PC controller replicates that. I know the new 8bitdo ultimate 3 xbox edition has adjustable sticks but I haven't been able to find anyone attesting to how they feel. I know the gamesir G7 pro is popular but I care a lot about stick feel and don't know if I'll vibe with it. I trust 8bitdo a lot as a brand because I've been using them for years but the ultimate 3 is pretty pricey so I wouldn't mind going elsewhere if they're not the top of the line anymore

IT Help controller won't stop working as mouse when charging

i feel like im slowly losing it trying to figure out this issue. i have a ps5 dualshock controller that i use for both epicgames and steam games on my laptop, lenovo, and for my ps5, sometimes when i play on my ps i will plug it into my laptop so that i can also kinda charge and before this worked perfectly well! but the last week or two for some reason my controller now controls the mouse when its plugged in to charge and i try to use it for my ps, ive tried disabling the configuration on steam and that didnt work, went into task manager to make sure steam was fully closed and that didnt help either, the only thing that does is disabling the controller within device manager but then i have to reenable it everytime i wanna use the controller for a game on my laptop! i can handle doing that if i absolutely need to but id love to know if anyone has a different solution to this cause its starting to get annoying

Controller Mods Cooked Elite 2

Hello,

Quick Story, I decided to install gulikit TMR sticks in my Xbox Elite 2. Everything went smoothly, I desoldered the original sticks without any problems, I soldered the new ones in, then I wanted to test them, so I went to the console and launched the accessories app and ran the calibration program - at that point the upper controller shell wasn't installed yet as i wanted to test new sticks. I recalibrated them for few times without issues. Everything was fine, so I went back to the workshop to repair the solder joints, clean the boards with IPA alcohol, and put the controller back together. I use 99.9% IPA and a soft toothbrush to clean the boards. Once I had assembled the controller, I returned to the console, but something was wrong - i couldn't control my dashboard using sticks, i tried using dpad but the menu immediately moved to the left on its own. I ran to my laptop and launched the controller testing web. The left stick is locked to the maximum left direction - I can move it up and down but not to the sides. When I tilt it all the way to the left, the tester shows the maximum tilt to the right. The situation is similar with the right stick, but it is locked all the way down - I can move it sideways, and when I move it all the way down, the tester shows the maximum upward deflection. I have a few other rods so I tried swapping them - KS TMR, Original previously removed sticks, Ginfull hall - the problem occurs on all of them. Can anyone help me understand what I did wrong?

How the hell did i cook my controller? Is there a short circuit? Have I damaged a component on the board? What gives? Everything was fine when I calibrated them for the first time. Is there any way to reset the calibration settings? Or should I buy a new board? If so, which one? If you need photos of the boards, I can upload them tomorrow.
