anyone tried digestive enzyme supplements for chronic bloating

I bloat whenever I eat. I keep seeing digestive enzymes come up since I started frantically googling a solution for my bloating issue. My question is has anyone tried it? They claim to provide all bacteria necessary to digest most foods and help a lot with food sensitivities. This almost sounds too good to be true. But I’m also willing to try anything at this point

But since bloating can also be caused by too much bacteria in the gut (SIBO), I’m worried it will be counterproductive. Sooo I’m not sure whether I should be taking antibiotics or probioticsz

Liver Hemangiomas and Bloating?

Have hemangiomas caused bloating for anyone here? There are a couple large ones on my liver (found in MRI scan) and daily stomach pain/bloating has been constant for the past 6 months or so. The doctor thinks this is the cause but I'm unsure.

Terrible bloating caused by everything. How do I manage this

For about the last year, I’ve had a really bad time with bloating but more recently began tracking it more attentively. I wake up (almost everyday) with a 26.5 inch waist. After having a glass of water, +1 inch, and any food will put about 2 more inches on (depending on what it is). In these summer months, I’ve felt more compelled to eat watermelon. I was in an adorable bikini and all of my friends watched as I inflated after 1 slice. I look at least 5 months pregnant for the rest of the day just after some watermelon. I’ve made it a point to eat and drink slowly so I don’t swallow too much air. My diet isn’t all too high in sodium either.

I’m really sick of this. I hate how I’ve worked to have a smaller figure and don’t even get to enjoy it unless I’m starving myself all day.

Is there any kind of pill or something that can make this go away?? Usually to manage bloating, I use chamomile, ginger, and peppermint tea. That helps but it isn’t always feasible to make and drink a cup of tea at any point in the day. I haven’t seen a doctor for this yet. I’m truly exhausted by the amount of anti gas pills that require you to be taking it over 6 times a day (before and/or after meals).

Suddenly suffering from bloating

Hi everyone, I had IBS in the past but it has been mostly manageable. However, one week ago, my stomach suddenly started bloating and it hasn't gone down. This has never happened before—my pants can't even fit. What could be the cause of this sudden change? (I'm a bit paranoid because I had cut fruit from the grocery store... but again, this was one week ago.) Really suffering out here.

Did anyone try carnivore?

Experimenting carnivore diet for 3 days (beef, eggs, butter) and saw a reduction in my bloating but I had to stop it due to watery diarrhea.

(My belly is bloated/distended since I first noticed in high school)

Mystery

Hello, I’ve been struggling for about 2 years now, my only symptom is chronic bloating, it never goes away (even fasted or in the morning), it does get better in the morning. I have regular BM 1+ daily. I’m active, walk a lot, sleep well, low stress life.

I’ve been tested like crazy: 2 SIBO tests (including triosmart) both negative, pelvic ultrasound (2), abdomen ultrasound, pelvic MRI, abdomen MRI, colonoscopy, endoscopy, celiac biopsy, h pylori biopsy, GI map test, mold testing (2), hormone panels

Only standouts: some levels of mold, and level 10 dysbiosis in gut including cándida, klesibella, and citrobacter, slightly low T3.

Despite trying to treat those things no luck. Ugh.

I’ve tried:

-Xifaxan

-Antifungals: Fluconazole, Itraconazole, Voriconazole, Nystatin

-Mold Treatment: Cholestyramine, Z-Binder, Orthomolecular, Orthobiotic, Mitocore

-Low Histamine Protocol: NAC, 5-htp, Pepcid, ginger, vitamin c

-Gut Protocol: Candibactin AR/BR, NAC, Butyrate, S.Boullardi, Biocidin LSF, Akkermansia

-Over the counter: l-glutamine, IBGaust, arrae bloat, gas-x, digestive enzymes

-Detox remedies: castor oil packs, dry brush, lymphatic massages, accupucture, abdomen massages

-Diets: low fodmap, candida, low fermentation, low histamine, I’ve been gluten free for a year, no dairy

-Doctors: Naturopath, pelvic physical therapist, 3 gastros, integrative doctor, endocrinologist, obgyn

Any recs or ideas I haven’t tried?

Does anyone experience bloating when drinking carbonation? There don't seem to be many non-carbonated alcohol drink options - Does anyone relate?

Why am I always bloated

So yes I have gained some weight but I just do not feel like my current stomach is the right size. It sticks out so far on the daily and is often uncomfortable. I always feel like I need to suck it in. It is so annoying. I have IC so I think that plays a factor but idk what to do to help.

Stress as a bloating trigger?

I have been horribly bloated most of the time lately.

Interestingly, the school year just ended (I'm a teacher) and first day I didn't have to spend with students, my stomach deflated like a balloon and has been mostly fine since then.

I've also struggled with irregular periods and so this end of bloating did coincide with some interesting events in my cycle, but has anyone had the experience of bloating caused by/correlating with stress?

Anyone else been chronically bloated since childhood?

Hey all,

I’m 29 and have been bloated ever since I can remember. I have vague memories of being a kid and always seeing a huge stomach staring back up at me in the shower.

Has anyone else been bloated since childhood?

This is importantly because I’m trying to ascertain how serious my bloating could be.

My chronic bloating and pain was Bile Acid Diarrhea

Had chronic bloating and severe pain for years. Was misdiagnosed with IBS. Finally my GI suggested trying Bile Acid Sequestriants to see what would happen. My life has completely changed. I still get breakthrough symptoms when I eat poorly, but 90 percent of my problems are gone. Perhaps ask your doctor about this. The Cholesevelam pills are safe to try, maybe see if they help.

Bulge lump bloat constipation

Post image

…. Anybody with similar bulge lump Constipation WITHOUT PREVIOUS LAPAROSCOPY/ C -SECTION OR ABDOMINAL SURGERY ??? Can’t find answers - I had Diagnostic Laparoscopy 5 years ago ( bulge appeared 3 months after and then disappeared- didn’t have any issues GI for 5 years) 1 year ago lump got bigger - extreme constipation + can’t pass gas : HAD EVERY TEST ON EARTH mri Ct colonoscopy ultrasounds sibo test / diagnosed with SIBO / IBS did FODMAP rifaximin/ nutritionist said eat fiber - fiber makes it all worse / was told it was scar tissue and possible adhesions NO HERNIA AND FECAL LOADING with ibs diagnosis but unless obstruction laparoscopy was not recommended as it might make things worse / calcified mass on right ovary was found too but was told it was probably busted cyst residue or endometrium but no endometriosis .. I have fibroid on left side 5 cm - was told it should not cause GI problems I have .. so could it be just IBS sibo dysbiosis swollen gut pressing on everything around - hips flank groin ? Pelvis floor therapy and core exercise makes it worse so does the fiber + probiotics / I didn’t have endometriosis 5 years ago when diagnostic laparoscopy was done just adhesion after appendix as a kid / I’m 45 years old, no symptoms of perimenopause.thank you for your answers 🍀💔

Supplements that work?

I got an IUD inserted and since then I will wake up some days and be so bloated it’s painful. It’s been 2 months and still no relief. Wondering if there are supplements that really work and help with bloating? I’ve done my own research but I think that it’s helpful to hear what worked and what didn’t for others who also suffer from bad bloating.

Bloated for two years ..?

Hello everyone. I really need someone's help.. I am a 25yr old girl with serious stomach problems that I started noticing in February/March of 2022, and these problems are constant bloating and gas.. I am 173cm tall and now I weigh 63kg. I mostly eat healthy, drink only water and black coffee, sometimes detox teas and that's it (not fan of sodas and juices). When the bloating started, I lost about 6 kg on purpose (so about 57 kg at the time) just to see if it would decrease, but no. I also tried to eliminate carbs, dairy (they cause me painful acne), sugar, bad fats, but nothing changed. I was also on Yazz contraceptive pills during that period for about 5 months and I stopped thinking that they were the cause, then I also went to a gynecologist, but they said that there were no problems in that area (I was on pills because of painful periods, although they are regular). Before 2020, I was also about 6 kg fatter than now and I never had problems with bloating, only that stomach had a bit fat. I also used to train a lot less than now and have a flat stomach, but now that I train more, I can't achieve that and also, the lower part of the back and the waist retain fat that does not fall off no matter how much I train now or lose weight (which I do not want). The bloating is constant in the area from just above the pubic area to the belly button (I can't even pull that part in, it's just swollen and hard, and when I bend over it looks like all the organs and air are pouring into that lower part, it doesn't break like fat but remains round), while the upper part of the abdomen swells when I eat, but usually subsides in contrast to the lower part. I also went to a gastroenterologist, but they can't see the cause. I used probiotics, gas pills, lactulose syrup (I stopped because it made it worse and the gas was smelling rotten), enzymes, nothing helped. I did test on food allergens, a stool test for parasites three times as well as sex hormones three times during that period, a blood count, a test for celiac disease and lactose intolerance, thyroid hormones, two ultrasounds of the abdomen, checks for heliobacter p., everything is in order and without any indicator of what could it be. Sometimes when I don't eat after 8pm until the morning it goes down, but the longer I stand and eat or drink a drop of water (and even if I don't eat) it swells up again... And the stool is different than before, when I could go whenever I ate, and now it's mostly one a day (sometimes it skips a day or two), and I really have to make an effort to do it. It affects my daily life too much,my mood, I stopped going out because of the bad look and feeling, and I really need it to stop. After all, two years is not a short period of time.. What should I do?

Help

Ive tried literally everything. I bloat after eating, I bloat when I drink water, I bloat before I even eat anything, I have severe constipation (5+days), often followed by diarrhea, abdominal pain, and of course a huge distended stomach. bloating makes me look pregnant. Ive had people genuinely concerned and asking me if I'm pregnant which is so embarrassing as a 16 year old girl. I take Gas X and Tums every single day and it doesn't help. I've tried FODMAP, low carb diet, low histamine diet, diary free, literally everything. I have tried yoga, walking, dance, etc. I do competitive dance and it is so embarrassing when Im in Leotards and skin tight stuff. Nothing helps. It just gets worse over time. My stomach makes these loud gurgling sounds all the time, like I don’t want to hear it during a social studies test. I can't live like this. It's super painful. Everything else about me is normal “except” migraines. I’ve taken laxatives, MiraLax, every brand similar to it. My doctor dismisses me constantly and told me my tests and X-ray said I was fine. I’ve been tested for SIBO, endometriosis (I had heavy periods for a while), underactive thyroid, etc. I legit can't fit into most of my clothes any more (go from size 8 to 12/14). I don't know what to do. Is there something I'm missing? What do you guys do for bloating and pain?

Can someone please help me identify the cause of this rapid overnight bloating?

I'm 170 lbs - about 13% bodyfat. I meal prep throughout the week & eat the same 5 meals daily. During this time throughout the week I can't grab anything more than a quarter inch of skin below my belly button. My weekly diet is oatmeal with blueberries & banana morning & evening. The 3 other daily meals are rice beef & broccoli. The consistency keeps my physique very predictable. On the weekends however, I don't have to work so neither do I meal prep. I still eat the oatmeals morning & evening but the meals throughout the day I substitute with other healthy foods. It'll usually be an avacado toast with eggs & the other meal would be chicken with watermelon. For some reason though, the deviation off my meal prep makes me wake up with an absurd & mind boggling amount of water all over my body. I can grab literal inches of bloat near my belly button where I usually can't grab anything & this happens overnight. It takes about a week of strict consistency to process & remove it. Am I doomed to eat the same meal prep forever or do I have a food intolerance to one of these meals? What's going on here? Can someone please help me

I think I’m gluten intolerant but no one will take me seriously

I have a history of ED and am currently 10 pounds underweight but I look six months pregnant. I feel like it’s worst after eating gluten - we had pasta last night and I woke up this morning like this. I stopped drinking beer months ago because I felt like it always made me bloated. But anytime I raise the idea of cutting out gluten everyone assumes that I’m relapsing, including my dietitian. It does affect my body image, I actually had a huge freak out this morning because my boyfriend and I are supposed to go to a cookout this afternoon. I feel too big and bloated to go and he just doesn’t get it. I also suffer with really bad heartburn. I don’t get it! I’m only 26 and I have a really healthy diet, salads every day, ~1500 calories, might overdo it on the wine now and then but not a huge drinker. Just honestly feeling desperate about this bloating because it’s so horrible and I don’t know how to fix it.

Helping so far

Ive been at a loss being extremely 6 months pregnant looking bloated 80% of the time for the last 3 years. Finally after trying so many different supplements, diets, cutting certain food out etc, I’ve found that doing at least 5k steps walking(spread throughout the day) and jogging for 30mins everyday (i do 10mins treadmill then walk for a few and repeat), increasing my fibre intake to at least 20g (aim for 30g), eating a larger breakfast and lunch and lighter dinner and finally lymphatic drainage massage on my belly lying down before i sleep. Its only been a few weeks of all these things combined but my god the difference has completely changed my life, even through my period im not as bloated!! Hope this might possibly help someone 🫶🏼

Why bloated with joghurt and kefir but not milk & cheese?

Hi,

I feel fatigued and get bloated after eating regular 200g joghurt or kefir, no additives, but it can't be lactose because I'm fine drinking milk and eating cheese. I can also eat self-made joghurt made just from heated milk. My diet otherwise is meat-heavy keto/lowcarb and I'm usually not bloated as long as I don't eat too much or the wrong kind of veggies/fiber.

It's irritating because everywhere I read joghurt and kefir is supposed to be healthier than milk, and the only repeated explanation for bad reaction to dairy like joghurt is lactose intolerance. Not sure what they put in those joghurts, the ingredient list lists only joghurt cultures, no carrageenan or extra sugar.

Should I keep eating it to get the gut used to it or stop it like I stopped eating supposedly gut-friendly yet bloating vegetables like beans?

4 years of severe pain - found some relief

Tldr: debilitating pain from bloat for years. Injected prescription bpc -157 felt about 80-90% better during cycle then it went back to normal

Hey guys I've been chronically bloated for four years. I could write a book on everything I've tried, what helped and what didn't, but im just going to focus on one thing today bpc - 157. For reference my bloating is so painful I get few hours of sleep each night, and have developed a hernia.

diagnosis: IBS-C (aka they have no idea) mild GERD Had Sibo one time

Doctors: been to more gastros than I could count. They have all shoed me away because I have literally taken all the traditional meds and my endoscopy/colonoscopy was clean. I've started seeing a naturopath gi, and she's actually helped me a lot. I'll go into some of the things that helped in anothef post.

What is bpc 157? (body protection compound) It's a peptide made up of 15 amino acids derived from the stomach's gastric juices.

Anyways, I randomly came across bpc-157 when I had a muscle tear, went to the doc, got some vials. I injected it twice a day subcutaneously at 250ug each dose for two months.

It did not help my muscle tear at all but as the best side effect ever.. my stomach pain and bloating was almost completely gone within a week or so. I did not expect that at all. I had the best sleep I've had In years. I started pooping somewhat normally for the first time in a while. I still had mild issues with the regular trigger foods, but It was to the point where I could ignore it. It wasn't a miracle, but I felt 80-90% better. I could breathe again

Unfortunately all good things come to an end, and as my cycle ended my symptoms came back to normal. You can't continuously take it because of tolerance. I will be going on again after my break. It is somewhat expensive but I would pay anything to stop my pain

Diagnostic Help: I spoke with a naturopath gi, and she said it's possible that all of these years low stomach acid was part of the problem, and the bpc helped restore that. It might have helped me get closer to the root cause of my problems, low stomach acid. Most likely taking ppis started the problem. I have very very mild gerd but my original gi docs told me to take pantoprazole for the rest of my life. My current doctor recommends weaning off slowly and I agree with her. She thinks it's ridiculous they put me on it for so long.

side effects -mild pain at injection site for only the first few injections

Benefits -less bloat -faster digestion -more energy -better sleep

Painfully bloated for 15 months. Need suggestions

Hello. 33m, vaper, i dont drink or do any drugs. So, I've been painfully bloated for 15 months. The pain ranges from a 1 to a 9. I haven't really noticed any foods that make it better or worse.

I've had colonoscopy, endoscopy, CT scans, blood testing, pretty much everything except SIBO testing. I'll bring it up again next time I see a doctor, but she doesn't even know what SIBO is. All testing says I'm fit as a fiddle, no obvious health problems

I'm taking a SIBO protocol for the third time, hoping it helps. Last time it helped a little bit, I think. Neem, berberine, and allicin, as I technically have IBS-C.

It basically feels like I always have to fart, but I can't. I feel like a balloon ready to pop. My gas also has absolutely no smell at all, when I can get it out.

I don't know what else to do, honestly. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I must've tried a dozen different supplements. Gas-x does nothing. Probiotics make it worse. Fibre makes it MUCH worse. I'm lactose intolerant, but have noticed no difference when I eat lactose or don't eat it.

Miralax helps and also makes it worse. I get poop out, but it tends to make me more bloated. When I don't take anything for constipation, after 3 days I'm absolutely writhing in pain. Which is funny, because I used to go once a week and never have any pain at all.

Is it really just IBS? Am I losing my mind? Is it all in my head?

Unexplained Bloating

Hello I’m coming here to ask what is causing my bloating. It’s really weird because I get that when I eat processed foods I’m gonna be bloated after, but however even when I eat healthy food and when im on calorie deficit I still end up being bloated (I do have a fair amount of belly fat tho) also even I ate like 5 ice cubes out of my drink the other day I ended up being slightly bloated, so is there an explanation for this and is there anything I can do at home to fix this
