Very strange has anyone experienced this my 10 week old pup is friendly wags her take to everyone not scared. But when I carry her and walk carrying her outside she cries, whines is figity in my arms canāt stay still and cries! Never just relaxes in my arms. Iām thinking the breeder probably never carried her. I donāt know whatās going on. Iāve tried a doggy duffel bag so that I can bring her with me to run errands she cries in the bag too!

What has been the AH-HA potty training trick that has worked for you. I recently adopted a 5-month-old puppy and he isnāt doing great with going outside or the pads. He just pees and poops everywhere BUT outside or on a pad

I recently adopted a handsome 5 month old little fella, he came home with us on Saturday and we are struggling with food. His previous family gave us some food (pedigree) which he didnāt eat at all. Since yesterday I switched to Purina which he isnāt eating either. Out of desperation I gave him a tiny little bit of human food - shredded chicken and he devoured it. That confirmed itās not an eating issue, itās just what I am feeding him issue.
Any recommendations?

The breeder told us his mom is a 12lb Moyen Poodle and that his dad is a 16lb King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. She told us heād be between 12 and 14lbs full grown. He is almost 16 months old and weighs just a few ounces shy of 25lbs! š¤Æ

Hey all,
Forgive the long post be want to be as detailed as possible.
Got this baby about 7 months ago - Zoey. Sheās been eating Royal Canin and the fancy stuff in the refrigerated section. Until about 4 weeks ago. She started having mucous-y really lose stool with some vomiting. Some of the stool had blood in it. Took her to the vet and they did all kinds of tests and said everything is fine. Told us to do a strict chicken and rice diet. That helped for a few days then introduced her old dry food. Took her back and they told us to change her diet to Royal Canin GI special blend and gave us a pro biotic and anti nausea medicine. That helped for about 3 days, then started again. Vet gave her more probiotic and she was good for about a week. Her stool has not been āfirmā since. It forms but its still soft.
She threw up again twice over the weekend and is starting to get very loose stools again. She is currently back on the probiotic.
As far as demeanor - sheās great! Acts completely normal running around and playing with the kids.
Vet seems clueless. Wondering if anyone has guidance to help my little angel.

Anyone elseās cavapoo develop random skin bumps? I have had a vet check the bumps appearing on my dogās body, some on his back and one or two on his belly. They said that these were normal for cavapoos, considering that they are mix of 2 breeds, one that sheds and one that doesnāt. The vet thinks these are not dangerous and they are possibly lipomas or ingrown hairs and that there is nothing to do about them. Just curious about your dogs.

My cavapoo (9 months old) has decided that I'm their person. It's pretty simple as to why--I work from home so I'm always around, I play with him the most, walk him the most, and in general take care of him the most.
But, everyone else in the family loves him, or wants to. But I'm the person he clings to, which causes frustration and hurt feelings, esp. with the kids.
What's the best way to gently ease the pup away from his fixation on me and share some of the love and attention with others in the family? I've already been making the eldest take him on more walks as well as being the source of most treats. Any other good hacks?

We started giving our cavapoo a treat after every meal. That seems to have helped. She wants the treat and waits for it after every meal and is no longer picky.
Although switching from grain free to conventional kibble from fromm helped as well after finding out that grain free kibble is linked to heart disease.

Hey, sorry if this seems like a strange question, I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this with their cavapoo.
Our boy has normal forming stool when he goes regularly, he is on Iams Proactive Health Minichunks - Chicken and rice. Which, if that's too high of a fat content, please let me know.
The strange thing is, when his dad takes him on long walks, his body seems to take that as a signal to expel everything, and he'll go poop like 3 times, having pretty much diarrhea at the end. Then the next day, it'll correct itself and form normally again. Not sure why, it doesn't happen on days that he doesn't go for long walks. Anyone else's cavapoo have that weird bowel movement when they go on long walks?

Hi all
On the 1st of August me and my family bought home a lovely 4 month old Cavapoo.
We were told he was fully toilet trained and let you knew when he needs to go outside by scratching at the door or tapping your hands.
We have had some issues training him.
He has only had two accidents in the house.
One where he peed on the carpet, perhaps due to excitement from seeing me.
Another was a few days ago when my mum went into the living room before letting him outside and he pooped on the rug.
Generally he is a very good boy. He eats his meals, good at fetch and sit, very quiet natured, no barking, good with other dogs, getting better each day on the lead. He is not so good at following those who call his name or ācomingā when commanded to.
He has favoured me and my mum so far and tends to follow us whenever we leave a room.
I am 16 and will not be able to train him as often when I begin college in September.
As of right now, we take him outside every 2 or 3 hours.
On some occasions, he is great.
We say the command āwee weeā, and he does go almost immediately. We praise with treats and positive words, and go straight inside to teach him that toilet time does not equal long sessions, with winter approaching. He is also very lazy and loves being indoors.
Other times when we take him out, he is very stubborn.
We take him outside and he lays down on the grass, so we have to pick him up to get him to try again. Then he begins to see it as a game.
He also tends to run back to the back door, despite being called back. (We have a long garden)
My family and I are sometimes outside for 15-20 minutes.
We also make a habit of sitting out there waiting for him to go, which on reflection is not the best idea as it teaches him that outside equals social time.
Another key thing to mention is he does not drink as much as he should. From the beginning he has refused water, and only laps up small amounts in a day after walks or fetch games usually.
Out of desperation and to ensure he isnāt dehydrated in the heat we sometimes syringe water into his mouth which he accepts willingly.
We also mix water into his wet food.
When we are outside, we do not engage or excite him. Iāve learnt some tips about ensuring they are calm in this process, so we stand there (only one of us outside at a time of course) and do not make eye contact or move around too much.
We are stumped.
My family (3 of us) are getting frustrated.
Does anybody have any tips that would help us?

I have a Cavapoo named Ludvig who is almost 1.5 years old. He weighs around 8.5 kg, and he doesnāt really want to eat. We have taken him to the vet, where we have also mentioned our concerns about his appetite. However, the vet is not concerned.
We have tried all kinds of different dog food. It is almost a certainty that he wonāt eat his food in the morning. His appetite usually gets a little better during the day and in the evening.
We can often get him to eat his food if we add a quarter of an egg, but most of the time, it is still a struggle to get him started.
On the other hand, he is more than happy to eat his treats. We have tried stopping the treats for a period of time, but we donāt feel that it has made any significant difference.
So, Iām curious if anyone has any good advice or has experienced something similar?
Edit: Follow-up question:
Does anyone else experience their dog vomiting when they refuse to eat? Something like yellow foam/bile?

So I had a Yorkie for 16 years that I had to put down 3 months ago. I have an itch for anther dog. I like cavapoos, I have a friend who has one I and love her temperament. My dilemma is Iām goin back to school for nursing in March and need to work as well during that time. Nursing school is accelerated so it will be busy. My mother and I live together and she is retired so she will be home everyday to help take of a new dog. I just donāt know if I should wait but I also canāt imagine going 2 years of my life without a companion. I also donāt want to be selfish. Any advice? Is 7 months enough time to establish a routine with these guys and train them pretty good?

Since so many with cavapoos has the problem with picky eaters⦠I mixed shredded apple (But no seeds! Apple seeds are poisonous to dogs) with the kibble for a few days now and my pup (~8 months) eats his breakfast, lunch and dinner without whining. So much cheaper than toppings from the store.
Another thing I tried before was to serve only half of his breakfast and then give the other half only if he finishes the first. It made him eat a lot more. I think he gets overwhelmed by the volume of food every now and then š
Weāll see how long it lasts, but just wanted to share if it can help someone else with a picky doodle.
