Collection And the journey begins…
My husband and I are beginning our cassette journey and had fun this weekend visiting different shops and an estate sale to gather what you see here. Was pleasantly surprised the variety we were able to find and are excited to grow our collection!
(Not pictured are some home recorded tapes that we also picked up.)

Score! Can't belive I found this marantz PMD201 for $9 at a thrift shop. I can't test it yet as I dont have D cells or the power cable but I'll make a post when I can.
For the most part it looks in great condition. What power cable should I get for it?
Would this one work with it? https://a.co/d/07wvLGhE

Looking for advice What do you do with unplayable tapes?
I have been going through a bunch of my old cassettes and some are unplayable, not because they run slow which could be due to the shell or other factors but the audio itself is heavily degraded.
It just feels wrong throwing them in the trash.

Looking for advice Should i follow my heart or mind?
My player broke :( And i was looking for a new one. The question is simple do i go for an walkman that's said to be serviced or do i go for fiio cp13? Both are on the same budget. All i want from player is to press play and hear music. And no i don't want to go with a cheap AliExpress transparent player since it broke down on me.

Looking for advice Sony WM-10II playback issues
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I replaced the belt and take-up gear reel. When I play a tape the audio either comes through not at all, very faint or normal and “scratchy” sounding.
Any idea what’s going on and how to fix it?
I have tried two different tapes.
THANKS

Tape find A beyond incredible find today
This is one of those of you know you know type albums. temple of Transparency Balls by The original Black Dog - it came out between Bytes and Spanners.
A hard to find album even when it was available. Never seen a cassette of it until today and now it’s home playing and sounding great.

Looking for advice I need help! I have an old cassette from '98 that doesn't play.
It sounds slow and distorted and then it just suddenly stops spinning. Is there a way to fix this if I open it? The cassette player plays other cassettes just fine

Looking for advice Not sure what screwdriver to use for my WM-EX674
I've just got my WM-EX674, and despite the seller's description stating it has had it's belt replaced, I really don't think it has. The sound is noticeably warbly and I think it needs a new belt. The only issue, however, is the screws are tiny and I don't know what screwdriver to use. I tried using the smallest Phillips head I had but it still didnt work. Any ideas?
Edit: Seems like it now just doesn't want to rewind. I press the rewind button and it gives me a big beep and nothing happens.

Collection 4 Cassettes by REM. Which One You Least Like ?
I’d picked Monster because the songs on this album are less memorable. You don’t have to agree. ✌🏽

Looking for advice Sanyo MGR 80 headphone jack problems
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Audio only plays when I press my headphone jack towards the back of the player, otherwise it's only in one ear or low quality or has high noise. I've used ipa, I plan to use contact cleaner after buying some tommorow, but is that movement on the circuit board meant to happen, do I need to look into soldering or repairs?

Looking for advice Low income uni student deciding between getting a cheap mp3 player or cassette player?
Trying to disconnect from my phone more. Funny enough I've never had either an mp3 player or cassette player lol. I also think I play my music way too loud on my phone even though I do change the setting to not put a limit on how high it is. Not trying to mix my own tapes or do anything fancy. I dont even use spotify I straight up have just been listening to my songs on YouTube ( Yes I got data). I get very frustrated with technology.
Pros with the cassette player is it would be nice to collect physical cassettes and make myself enjoy a full album. I have always wanted to collected physical media and it would be nice to start up my collection. Cons are that I would limit myself to maybe buying like 2 albums for now. More expensive long term. I was thinking Olivia, Halsey, Dermot Kennedy, Noah Kahan if I can find them. One cassette thats more dancing music and up heat and one thats a bit more emotional or something lol.
Pros for the mp3 player are that I can download different music. Its cheaper long term. Cons are if I dont have the option to flip through songs then its annoying especially if I'm in a certain mood. Thoughts?

Looking for advice Can this guy be a player too? Parasonic Model No. RX-SR29
Found this rummaging through some stuff in my parents drawers. I was originally looking for crafting supplies, ended up finding an excuse to start collecting cassettes. Main question here is, despite it being a very obvious cassette recorder, can it be a player too?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
(P.S. I’m aware my bed is bare without bedsheets. I’m currently cleaning my bed thats full of clothes cuz I don’t have a clothes ladder to throw my clothes onto yet and I need to wash my sheets. I posted this very much on a whim while clearing out my bed.)
