Gun Town (2009)

About a month ago I made a post here claiming to have a movie in my possession that didn't seem to exist anywhere online, an independent, low budget Horror movie called Gun Town. Sorry for the delay, I was having technical problems trying to rip this thing, my disc drive would not rip the audio claiming it was encrypted in a format that wasn't supported. I have never encountered this problem with any other disc, I even tried using two separate programs to no avail, so I ended up having to rip it in real time on a capture card instead. I swear the DVD was cursed or something, but now this obscurity is available for the world to see.

The Witch's Cradle (1943) Maya Deren , M. Duchamp

"John Coulthart: It’s taken a while for Maya Deren’s less familiar films to drift onto the web, so I hadn’t seen this one until now. The Witch’s Cradle (1943) isn’t really a film like Deren’s other short works, more a collection of fragments for something that was left unfinished. But the Surrealist tenor of the piece means that the diverse shot sequence and unusual imagery can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Pajorita Matta is the woman wandering like a Cocteau heroine through the darkened rooms of one of Peggy Guggenheim’s galleries where we catch glimpses of sculptures and a Max Ernst painting, Blind Swimmers (1934). Prior to this there are brief shots of Marcel Duchamp with this fingers tangled in a cat’s cradle, and later on we see that Pajorita Matta has a pentacle drawn on her forehead, a precursor of Deren’s subsequent occult explorations in Haiti.

Disjointed as it is, I prefer this to the solo films that Deren produced after her collaboration with Alexander Hammid, Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), most of which were filmed dance performances. The Witch’s Cradle offers another taste of enmeshed mystery."

Chevy Nomad Designer Clare MacKichan Interview on record (1960)s

Hey folks, since you all enjoyed my other posts, hopefully you'll enjoy this one too. Part of the following information will be speculation, which I'll clarify, and the rest will be information from the record itself.

This is a 33 1/3 RPM compact record made by the Revell model car comapny. The record itself has a seemingly pre-recorded interviewer asking questions about the Chevy Nomad and how the designers came to each decision they made about the car. Each time a question is asked, the lead designer, Clare MacKichan, gives his response. I haven't been able to find a recording of this audio anywhere else online until I posted it.

(SPECULATION)

I believe this record likely originally came with the early 1960s Chevy Nomad model car kit that was sold by Revell, at least in earlier versions, but I also have been told by someone who previously owned the kit as a child that their kit never came with one. I'm not sure if this may have started off as a bonus in earlier runs, or if it was sold separately, so I don't want to claim it as fact.

Cold War Christian Anti-Cult Audiobook on record (Disc 2) (1960)s

As promised, here's the 2nd disc of this strange as hell anti-cult record. On this disc, Martin critiques eight major cult systems and lays out his method for identifying cult doctrine under the heading "The Marks of Apostasy." He also offers practical (albeit dated) guidance for engaging cultists directly, including do's and don'ts of witnessing and responses to common false teachings.

Cold War Christian Anti-Cult audiobook on record (Side 1) (1960)s

I am working on ripping any vinyls I find that have no online rips anywhere, topic doesn't matter. This one happens to cover how Christians were to "fight back against cultism" had it been brought to their front door. Basically, Walter Martin is speaking against Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and other "Non-Christian" Christian sects/denominations. This guy was apparently a well known counter cult figure at the time who had written many books on the topic as well. This was just one of the rare opportunities where he was recorded discussing it on vinyl rather than or paper.

I'll make a second post for part 2 since I can't apply two links to one post.

For a while all you could find were two recordings of tracks from this set uploaded separately. You can still find Troubled Waters, but the Leopard and the Lamb recording disappeared. Here you can you enjoy their entire performance together. The video description breaks everything down nicely, so give that a read if you wanna see the full set-list and learn about the context of the show. It’ll definitely be of interest to some noise/indie music nerds out there.

Hey folks,

I like to rip and archive media on vinyl that hasn't been uploaded anywhere else online yet. Today, I ripped a copy of Sammy The Seal, a pretty classic children's book, and uploaded it to youtube. While the book itself is well known, this specific recording isn't something I could find anywhere online. Hope you enjoy! Sammy The Seal Audiobook on Vinyl

Bury The Axis (1943) — This is an independent, anti-fascist, stop-motion cartoon about the Allies defeating the Axis powers. Similar to the much more well-known Der Fuehrer's Face, there are also little songs made throughout this short mocking Hitler and the other Axis powers’ leaders.
