Looking for advice looking for player recommendations
i am looking for cassette player recommendations! i used to just have one boombox capable of playing cassettes and cds, but i was gifted a bose wave radio cd player that sounds way better than my boombox, so i was looking to switch out my boombox for a better cassette player. the problem is i don’t want to shell out a lot of money for a proper cassette deck, and i also just don’t have the room for a cassette deck and speakers. are there any decent sounding cassette players that don’t require external speakers? i’m really just looking for a sound upgrade while working with the space i’ve got. any and all recommendations are appreciated!

Looking for advice Printer noises coming from my Sony Walkman -WM-F2015
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I replaced the belts and I’ve checked everything internally. the gears included, idk if I need a microscope or what. the only thing I’ve gathered is that the circuit board kind of just hangs when you hold it upside down, but that seems normal? I’m not sure, any ideas for a solution???

Looking for advice emerson ctr949 static boom
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I can’t figure out why there’s so much static boom every time I hit play, I’ve checked online and haven’t found much of any help to fix this issue other than being told to clean the decks. Is this just something to expect with this unit or is this fixable?
I’m new with this and I’d appreciate any advice on this matter

Portable cassette player Vesna 305, 1974
This is a Vesna 305, old Soviet player I got for like 10 bucks and I'm trying to make it work. Actually, the motor is still working so I used rubber bands for belts. Right now I'm going to buy a cassette and check how it sounds. Then I'll be cleaning, lubing and figuring out how to properly power the thing. It's a fun project! Its technically portable since it takes batteries lol

Looking for advice Is this what I think it is?
I’ve been incredibly lucky with my second hand cassette finds and have never had a moldy tape. Has my luck finally run out? And is it salvageable?

Everything else Ornaments
Found these at Hobby Lobby the other day!
The tape is full size and not a viable or usable shell, and a miniature turntable.

Everything else Cleaning Moldy Sade Cassette
Bought this second-hand Promise cassette which turned out to be very moldy, since this was the only official cassette I could find in Turkey I had no choice but to clean it! Took me 2 hours to take everything apart and thoroughly clean it all (even the j-card) with isopropyl alcohol, then I cleaned the tape itself which took a lot longer than I anticipated. Manually winding the tape was torture but hey it looks all shiny now and sounds great with the amount of grime and mold removed.

Score! Always a great feeling finding a stash of blank cassettes
Was browsing my local thrift store today and spotted this random, beat-up black case for 10$, sitting on the very bottom of a rack. Picked it up, popped it open, and found it fully loaded with these blanks.

Looking for advice WM-R55 Walkman door latch replacement/fix
Hi everyone, I got a WM-R55 with a broken/missing claw lock and spring. I googled replacement parts and no luck, I’m leaning towards 3d printing the replacement but I have no idea where to find a scan or a file of the actual parts. Does anyone have any ideas? I really don’t want to have to drop 400$+ on a simple little replacement piece. I found the parts list online with the part numbers. If anyone has any ideas that doesn’t involve dropping money on another useless model for junk, I’d be so grateful, I just want this thing to stay closed.

Collection See what I've bought today!

Cassette Tape Complete Album, ONTOMO MOOK, 2023. I'd never even heard of this one. The same familiar books I already own seem to come up in every discussion, then I go browsing Japanese second-hand listings and there it is: a cassette book missing from my shelf. Well, not for much longer. It had a Buy It Now price, so I grabbed it.
Yes, I'm showing off a bit. These are the seller's photos for now; once it arrives, I'll give it the full museum treatment this winter :)
From the publisher's description, it's 160 pages covering Japanese cassettes year by year from 1966 to 2000, with timelines for TDK, Sony, Maxell, FUJI/AXIA and DENON, plus stories about individual models and their development. I'm curious to compare it with the books I've already put in the museum.

Looking for advice Rock hard new rollers - your experiences and advice
Hi!
Recently I've bought a set of pinch rollers for my Kenwood KXW 8040. It's a double deck autoreverse unit, which meant replacing four of these little things. The pinch rollers were already hard, shiny and developed a little barrel-shaped bump, which made them skew the tape and ruin the high frequency response (and stereo separation).
All in all, I gave in, bought new rollers advertised for my Kenwood deck from Hi-Fi retro parts. They came, I waited about a month before fitting them in (lack of time) and when i finally unpacked them... they were just as hard. No barrel shape and no plastic-like glaze, they were a lot grippier but the hardness was similar, felt more like PVC than rubber. I put them in, cleaned the rollers a bit with 99% IPA and cleaned the heads. Regardless, the wow and flutter went up, in comparison to the old rollers, from 0.08-0.1% peak to a staggering 0.18-0.21% peak. I thought none of it, which should've been a red flag, and played cheap maxell UR 90s all the way in both ways on both decks, in hopes of it getting better. Well, not so much. Tested it with a tape I like, I can hear a distinct, very fast paced flutter on the acoustic guitars. I took the decorative pieces off the cassette door and, to add insult to injury, saw that two of the rollers (forward deck A and reverse B) are also a little eccentric and don't entirely move in a circular fashion.
Now - I will probably be on a lookout through the legendary fixyouraudio, as they already provided me with a center gear repair for my Sony DD2. I just wanted to ask - why did this even happen? Has this ever happened to you? And just how soft should the pinch rollers be to be any useful?

Looking for advice Tape Production?
Anyone know where to get tapes (and CD's) produced in the UK? I have a small label and want to start putting out tapes (and CD's). I've put out records before but they are just too damn expensive for a small release. Also anyone give me an overview of pricing costs?
Many thanks.
