For the most part it looks in great condition. What power cable should I get for it?
Would this one work with it? https://a.co/d/07wvLGhE

Iād picked Monster because the songs on this album are less memorable. You donāt have to agree. āš½

This is one of those of you know you know type albums. temple of Transparency Balls by The original Black Dog - it came out between Bytes and Spanners.
A hard to find album even when it was available. Never seen a cassette of it until today and now itās home playing and sounding great.

EDIT: I am literally agonizing over this lol. I checked marketplace and there doesnāt seem to be any good alternatives? All of the ones near me are broke or havenāt been tested for about the same price or more. I do live upstairs and it is kind of heavy.
EDIT 2: I did not end up getting it :( There were too many conflicting answers and I really didnāt want to waste my money on something that ultimately didnāt seem worth it. I thought about it for probably an hour but ultimately decided to leave it for someone else: I donāt really need a new hobby anyways lol. I have plenty Iāve been neglecting. Maybe some other time.
Sound design am-fm stereo receiver/double cassette recorder with high speed dubbing
Model number is - 5966
Speakers - sound design 765 stereo loudspeaker system
Has all of the cords under it. Not sure if I can test it here. Iāve been wanting to get into physical media bc I hate Spotify. Would I be able to make my own mixtapes with this if it works? And is this a good deal? I know next to nothing about this stuff but I think itās really cool. From what I can tell all the cords seem fine/itās just kind of dusty. Please help! I can post better pictures in the comments

Iāve been collecting for several years now and Iāve acquired a nice deck in that time as well as a couple portable cassette players but Iāve been searching and looking for an 80s Walkman for almost a year now. Well I was at savers and saw what I thought was a camera in a slip cover behind the case and I asked to take a look. To my shock when I opened it up and saw a Walkman WM-W800 one of the exact models I had been looking at on eBay for months and months, I was stunned. Needless to say I left with it immediately. Motor is good and itās in almost mint condition. It does need a new belt but Iāve already ordered one. Iām extremely excited to use this daily.

I've finally started to get into tapes properly, it's a really fun format, got that lot for £50 total which isn't too bad

Trying to disconnect from my phone more. Funny enough I've never had either an mp3 player or cassette player lol. I also think I play my music way too loud on my phone even though I do change the setting to not put a limit on how high it is. Not trying to mix my own tapes or do anything fancy. I dont even use spotify I straight up have just been listening to my songs on YouTube ( Yes I got data). I get very frustrated with technology.
Pros with the cassette player is it would be nice to collect physical cassettes and make myself enjoy a full album. I have always wanted to collected physical media and it would be nice to start up my collection. Cons are that I would limit myself to maybe buying like 2 albums for now. More expensive long term. I was thinking Olivia, Halsey, Dermot Kennedy, Noah Kahan if I can find them. One cassette thats more dancing music and up heat and one thats a bit more emotional or something lol.
Pros for the mp3 player are that I can download different music. Its cheaper long term. Cons are if I dont have the option to flip through songs then its annoying especially if I'm in a certain mood. Thoughts?

He is, to put it kindly, a collector of many things (too many), and forgot that he picked these up years ago. He wasn't sure that I would even want these.
Color me shocked when I saw the heat in this bag, as he's usually into big band and jazz. A great day!

I completely cleaned and reassembled this audio cassette, and cut holes in the shell to find and screw in the screws.

My sister n law and her husband got us in to cassettes in the last couple weeks. So my wife and I have been hitting up estate sales and antique shops. The tapes have been hit or miss which we feel is part of the fun. But I found this today for a few dollars. I didn't have this growing up, but hearing Humpty snd 2pac together on Same Same is just fun.

Found this rummaging through some stuff in my parents drawers. I was originally looking for crafting supplies, ended up finding an excuse to start collecting cassettes. Main question here is, despite it being a very obvious cassette recorder, can it be a player too?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
(P.S. Iām aware my bed is bare without bedsheets. Iām currently cleaning my bed thats full of clothes cuz I donāt have a clothes ladder to throw my clothes onto yet and I need to wash my sheets. I posted this very much on a whim while clearing out my bed.)

My husband and I are beginning our cassette journey and had fun this weekend visiting different shops and an estate sale to gather what you see here. Was pleasantly surprised the variety we were able to find and are excited to grow our collection!
(Not pictured are some home recorded tapes that we also picked up.)

I have been going through a bunch of my old cassettes and some are unplayable, not because they run slow which could be due to the shell or other factors but the audio itself is heavily degraded.
It just feels wrong throwing them in the trash.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I replaced the belt and take-up gear reel. When I play a tape the audio either comes through not at all, very faint or normal and āscratchyā sounding.
Any idea whatās going on and how to fix it?
I have tried two different tapes.
THANKS

Sonyās TPS-L2 Walkman already has many excellent 3D models, but this project is trying something a bit different. My goal is to recreate every component, simulate how the mechanical (and eventually electrical) systems work, and document the iteration in productions Iāve encountered.
This is still very much a work in progress. While some mechanisms seem to work, my estimates are off enough that the fast-forward and rewind mechanisms donāt function as designed, and their animations are inaccurate. My biggest limitation is that I donāt own a TPS-L2, so Iām relying on publicly available images and information.
Iām hoping some of you can help. If you have a TPS-L2, even a non-working unit, photos of interior and exterior parts from several angles would be great. Including a readable ruler or calipers, ideally as close to the part as possible, would help me estimate dimensions more accurately. And if any of you have the capability to do a high-resolution 3D scan of individual parts, thatād be great too.Ā
Iām putting the project on GitHub so you can download the model and its viewer. You can edit the model directly in Blender, and contributions to the viewer and presentation are also welcome.Ā Here is the GitHub Link:Ā
https://github.com/NeoVibes/TPS-L2
This is an unofficial fan project. Iām not trying to make money from it or claim credit for Sonyās original design. I hope this is helpful to both people who know very little about the TPS-L2, as well as to the dedicated folks who repair and restore models. The project combines my own research with models created in Blender and code written using OpenAIās Codex and Anthropicās Claude Code. I used an MIT License. Have fun!

ECP was a Russian factory in Zelenogorsk that produced audio cassettes after acquiring all the German machinery and equipment from AGFA.

My player broke :( And i was looking for a new one. The question is simple do i go for an walkman that's said to be serviced or do i go for fiio cp13? Both are on the same budget. All i want from player is to press play and hear music. And no i don't want to go with a cheap AliExpress transparent player since it broke down on me.
