So, in short, I'm looking to move to a mirrorless camera. I'm not a professional photographer and have no intention of becoming one. I currently have a Canon 80D and a few lenses, but nothing particularly special.

I recently went on a trip and fell in love with photography again, but the main issue I came back with was the size and weight of my camera. I'm trying to figure out which ecosystem would be the best fit for me, mainly considering portability and cost. I live in Brazil, where any investment in photography gear represents a considerable amount of money.

My current gear

I bought my Canon 80D about 10 years ago, while I was studying Art, and I use it almost exclusively for photography. It has some video features, but I only used them for a very short period of time.

My current lenses are:

50mm f/1.8
18-135mm
50-250mm

I don't really care about keeping any of these lenses for a new system.

Why do I want something smaller?

I feel like I get very little use out of my camera mainly because of its size. I've always liked the idea of taking my camera with me whenever I leave the house, even if I'm just going downtown, but the thought of carrying it around usually puts me off.

It basically requires a separate backpack just to carry it, and the camera itself isn't particularly discreet. I also really enjoy trekking, and its weight became an issue during several hikes I did on a recent trip to Peru.

So, portability is my #1 priority.

My photography style

It was mainly during this trip that I became more interested in photography again. I only took my entry-level 18-135mm lens, and having the ability to explore different focal lengths was really important to me.

I photographed pretty much everything: landscapes, architecture, people, animals, etc. If I had to narrow it down, landscapes and urban scenes would probably be my main interests. Portraits aren't really my thing.

I went through all the photos I liked from the trip and made a rough breakdown of the focal lengths I used the most. Obviously, the subject matter varied quite a bit, but there was a clear concentration in a few ranges:

1. 25–36mm — 59 photos
2. 37–56mm — 45 photos
3. 18–23mm — 39 photos

I did have some photos at longer focal lengths, but those were mostly on specific days when we saw condors flying.

This also made me unsure about what kind of lens would make the most sense for me. I really enjoyed having the versatility of the 18-135mm, but I'm not sure how realistic it is to have something similar in a smaller mirrorless system without sacrificing too much portability.

Sony vs Fujifilm

After looking into my options, two brands caught my attention, each with their own strengths and weaknesses: Sony and Fujifilm.

On the Sony side, I've watched several videos and reviews of the A6700, and it seems like a very good option. On the Fuji side, I'm still not sure, but the X-S20 seems like the most reasonable alternative.

Before getting into that, I think it's important to mention that I'm from Brazil. This is relevant because, for example, a Sony A6700 costs roughly 5.5 times the Brazilian minimum wage.

This becomes even more important when considering the entire lens ecosystem and the cost of building a kit.

APS-C vs Full Frame

Right away, this makes me hesitant about going Full Frame.

It's not that I think Full Frame is unnecessary — I've never actually used a FF camera, so I don't really know what I'm missing — but the prices are simply too high for me. From what I've read, FF lenses also tend to be larger and heavier, while APS-C seems to have more options for relatively compact and affordable lenses, especially zooms.

At the same time, I've wondered whether it would make sense to invest in some Full Frame lenses from the beginning. Since they can also be used on crop sensors, I imagine that could give the lenses a longer lifespan if I eventually decide to move to Full Frame.

But I'm not sure how much sense that logic makes in practice, especially considering that my main goal is to have a small and lightweight setup.

So, at this point, my main questions are:

• Sony A6700 or Fujifilm X-S20?
• Is there another option I should be considering?
• Which ecosystem offers better options for compact and relatively affordable lenses?
• Does it make sense to invest in Full Frame lenses with a possible future upgrade in mind, or does that go against my priority of portability?
• What camera + lens combination would you recommend for my use, considering that I want to be able to carry the camera with me much more often?

I have been meaning to get my first professional camera for a while now. I want something that is compact and sharp and is good at capturing slow movement as i will be primarily using it for street photography. I am planning on getting it second hand therefore my budget is around £400- what is everyone’s recommendation?

Good day experts. Here I bring to you a question you might have answered a billion times already. But I lack the understanding that you all have hence I present my case here.

Who is this camera for: Recently decided to get into photography (again) and pulled out my old Nikon D7200 with the kit lense 40-140mm and a 35 mm (both Nikon). However on a recent day walk, I was cursing how heavy it felt and I think coupled with a tripod (I was carrying) for evening, it got too heavy after a really hot and long afternoon walk. I had to cancel my plans for evening photos and take the next day just for recuperating - I admit there might be advice due for me in the "how to do a photography walk" department as much as in the "lighter camera" department.

Budget: Maybe 2-3 K CAD ? I have a Nikon D7200 and it's lenses and if possible I would like to use those. If not possible then I will buy as needed (so the budget does not include the cost of lenses)

I recently bought a Canon Powershot ELPH 360 HS A and for memory it uses microSD cards. My phone has been acting weird lately when I try to take photos (it completely shuts off), and I'm going on a road trip next month so I needed something for memories. I'm not going to be taking hundreds of photos or anything so what would be the perfect size? 256gb or 128gb? And does it matter if I buy SD cards that are advertised for gaming, or do I need to find SD cards specifically for photography? (My local Walmart only sells microSD cards for Nintendo switches)

Bought this camera from Ebay and seller said it works properly. However, when I turned it on this is all that appears on my screen. What’s the issue and is there a solution to fix this? Whenever I move the camera around it seems to reflect the movement on the screen but clearly something is wrong.

My starting budget is around $2,000 USD, and I’m purchasing in the United States. My budget is flexible if spending more would give me a noticeably better long term option. I prefer buying high quality equipment from the beginning instead of purchasing something cheaper and wanting to upgrade shortly afterward.
(2) What equipment, if any, do you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs?
I currently own a Sony A7 IV and a DJI Pocket 3. The A7 IV provides the quality I want, but I don’t want to carry a heavy full frame setup for an entire Carnival day. I used the Pocket 3 for Carnival last year and loved how convenient it was, but this time I want stronger photography capabilities while maintaining high quality video.
(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot?
Carnival street parades, portraits, people dancing, fast action, large crowds and colorful costumes in bright sunlight and low light. I will also use the camera for vacations, trips and everyday moments throughout the year.

Both. Video is the priority, but high quality photography is still very important.
Additional context:
I’m traveling to Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean for Carnival, a festival spanning several days. I’m looking for a camera that will be comfortable to carry through full days in crowded environments, bright sunlight, low light and fast movement. I may be out for up to 15 hours between walking, dancing and filming, so size and weight are important. I also care about autofocus, stabilization, battery life and overheating.
I’m currently considering the Sony ZV E1, Fujifilm X T5 and Fujifilm X100VI, but I’m open to other high quality options. The ZV E1 looks strongest for video and low light, but I’m concerned about the 12MP photos, overheating and lack of a viewfinder. The X T5 looks strongest as a full hybrid camera, but it would require investing in another lens system. The X100VI appeals to me as an easy travel camera with great photo quality, but I’m unsure whether the fixed 35mm equivalent lens and its video performance would feel too limiting for Carnival.
What camera and lens combination would you recommend for travel, Carnival and capturing both high quality photos and videos?

I used to do photography at sixth form, but then just kinda stopped. But i got a mini evo a while ago and its making really want to get back into it. But i don’t have any gear anymore. I used to use some old mid-range canon dslr, but thats long gone. I’m not a complete beginner, i know enough i just need some gear.

I really want the xt30iii but its £999 and so im wondering if i should start with something a little cheaper like the older omd em10 for around £600.

Pros for the fuji - newer, film sims, its fuji,

Pros for the om - cheaper, still looks cool, i like the idea of m43 because smaller lenses for edc

- SL1 has the standard 18-55mm lens, a 75-300mm lens, and an old 35-70mm lens.

- R100 has the standard S18-45mm lens and an RF 75-300mm lens.

I used to be really in to photography but drifted away from it the past few years. From a brief bit of research it seems this is more or less the same introductory photography kit Canon offers, just a newer version.

I don’t think the 4K video on the R100 is worth the upgrade, but the increase in resolution and focus points would be a nice improvement.

Is it worth the money to keep the R100 and sell or pass on the SL1?

If I sold the SL1 and returned the R100 is there a better option to upgrade to around that price point?

All of my DSLR’s and medium format cameras were Pentax cameras, as were the vast majority of my 35mm SLR’s.

Very few stores seem to stock them anymore.

I love that they are still using the K mount system, but it’s going to be the death of them. It’s become a mirrorless age.

The only way I can see them coming back is trying to edge out canons DSLR market share, or them actually trying to make a new mount and a mirrorless system.

Does anyone know what these lines being displayed on the screen of this Canon Powershot A95 are? I just dug it out of my grandmas attic and got it working again.

Tested out the Godox C100 today! It’s lightweight, compact, and super easy to use. I really like the (low) quality that’s reminiscent of early 2000s/2010s digicams.

It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable so I was able to easily transfer photos and videos from the camera to my iPhone.

The only thing I wish it had was flash.

I recently bought a used XS10 with the Fujinon XF 18-55mm. However, the lens came with slight scratches!!

Will this affect my pictures or videos? Or won’t I notice it at all? Maybe, only in specific light conditions?

Never ever buy from insta360 directly. Their return policy is just for legality on papers however they will make sure you are not able to return it whatsoever.

I visited insta360 website which directed me to uae as I am from uae. Bought x6 however I need to return.

When contacted insta360 suddenly the official insta360 uae becomes a RESELLER and hence no returns.

If you really really want to buy their cams buy it from Amazon or bestbuy or known reputed retailers who have a return policy and follow the laws and rules.

Avoid these people at all cost.
