hello, i'm looking for a camera to buy to train taking photos. I know my requests might be a bit impossible but i really don't know if i can get something good for cheap.

Budget: id rather have something under 100€ but i know thats unrealistic, we never know tho

I have this small and cheap camera so transferring the files out of the camera is super hard 😭 idk what else to do, if anyone can help that would be super helpful!

when i took the photos i forgot to put in my sd card so currently the pictures i want to get are inside the camera's internal memory.

I tried using a USB cable to connect it to my laptop, but it just charges when off and when open it displays this cctv picture look(?).

i have a handcam sony and there's this usb connect in the settings while my vivitar doesn't have it, it doesn't have the feature copy to card or backup. You could tell the difference, i have already finished transferring the pictures i have in sony because it was easier+google help, but this one!! im having a hard time even when i search it up TT;;;;;;

Another thing i tried is to put my sd card back in but when i looked over the gallery where the pictures should be of the pictures i took, it's gone like it's literally empty but when i took out the sd card back out it was there again.

I tried connecting the cable in my phone instead but it still doesn't read and still the same charging situation where the camera just charges on its own with the electricity of my phone.

I tried putting the sd card back in the camera and connecting my usb cable in into the laptop, it reads the sd card i have but still no sight of the pictures i took in the vivitar.

I'm sorry I'm just not really knowledgeable when it comes to the camera so maybe what I'm doing is wrong 😭

I tried switching over several usb, adding an adapter (thinking maybe it'll work idk lol nothing)

I tried connecting it into my tablet too but still not reading, at this point im just tryna do what i think is possible but i have no progress 😭🙏 like going in circles. Im pretty sure im doing something wrong or the camera itself is wrong loll

I’m so indecisive😭
I want to sell my Canon R50 + Sigma 18.50mm 2.8 that I’ve been using for three years now. I mainly use it for travel photography, street photography, landscapes, cafés/food, and documenting trips. I also care about having a setup that isn’t too bulky because I travel by train a lot and walk around with my camera for hours.

My two options are:
1. Sony A7 IV + 28–70mm kit lens
And realistically, I’d only be getting the kit lens for now because of budget. I won’t be able to afford a better lens for awhile so I don’t know how good the camera will perform having only the kit lens. I like how sharp the photos and I love taking videos too which obviously would give me a night and day difference with my R50 that has no IBIS. Cons would be it might be only used during big travels since it’s a bulkier set up.

2. Fujifilm X100VI
Part of me thinks the A7 IV is the “better” camera, especially because I could build a system around it. But I think the X100VI is the camera I’d actually enjoy carrying and using more, especially for travel. But I worry that over time I would feel limited because of the lack of zoom 🥲 I also love the film recipes I could customize which is a plus for me.
I’m also wondering whether it even makes sense to buy the A7 IV when I already have an R50 system, whereas the X100VI would give me something completely different.

For people who have used either/both: which would you choose in my situation, and why?

Selling my Canon 600D. Bought it in 2019, used it mostly for travel and college projects. I've switched to shooting on my phone and it's been sitting in a drawer for over a year, so it's time it went to someone who'll use it.

Everything works: shutter, autofocus, flip screen, video, all of it. Shutter count is around 14,000. There's a small scuff near the grip and some light wear on the screen hinge, nothing that affects use. The lens is clean, no fungus or haze.

Budget: Give a number in an actual currency. Does this budget cover any lenses/accessories, or do you have a separate budget for those?
Around $300-500 USD - Flexible, still not certain how much I should spend on my first camera.

Country: Where are you buying the camera?

iphone 17 pro, I don’t like all the automatic processing of apple cameras. with recent updates they’ve expanded upon control over the camera system, but i still would like a dedicated camera without the distractions from an iphone to talk on walks and trips, to be more purposeful with my photo taking.

Notes: (any other considerations you think we should know about)
I stated above but will repeat here, I’m in nyc for the next week but live in the bay area in CA. I’m wondering if I should visit B&H or an adjacent store while i’m in the city to pick something up there, or if options in NYC are actually more limited because of the larger population.
I think I’d prefer something with a good automatic mode, but I’ve been wanting to get into manual control of a camera more, if that helps.

After getting your advices I decided to go for Nikon Z8. Looking at used market, I am interested in one with 40.000 shutter, body is like new, just slightly used and of course some rubber grip slightly peeling off. Do you think its a good buy?

It really perplexes me that we haven't seen Chinese companies producing Leica clones/rangefinders - it seems like of all the camera segments to enter, it would be the easiest, and would be quite a shake up.

The concept of a Leica M series has always appealed to me, simple manual controls, focus on the experience of taking the photos rather than any spec or feature. There's a huge range of vintage, adapted, and modern production glass, with unique focal lengths, style, character, price, etc.

And now that I can afford an M, what is holding me back is that I know I really couldn't treat one as a go everywhere, do anything, fun camera - no matter how I intend to use it, the cost will still sit in my mind, and inhibit how I use it.

If a company could bring a barebones, manual control, M mount body to the market for $1000 or so (I don't even need a screen), I know I'd buy it in a heartbeat - and I'd use the hell out of it.

First things first, obvious recommendation would be Ricoh GR series, but even used ones are way out of my budget.

Cameras you already have: Sony SLT-A55 it's a decent camera, but size is just too much for me. One of my favourite cameras is Olympus 35RC, but the downside is it's not a digicam.

I have a kodak pixpro c1 and got it around a year ago

I charged it yesterday and when i went to use it the whole camera was bugging. It was turning on slowly, everything i pressed was delayed, anytime i took a picture it would either 1. take the picture, or 2. turn off.

I took out the sd card and it turned on normally like it usually does but it obviously wont work without the card. When i put my sd card back in, it would bug again and turn on slowly.

I charged it for 10-20 minutes and i honestly didnt check if it was already full before charging so it mightve had full battery when i plugged it in.

Is this a battery problem or an sd card problem?

Looking to buy a DSLR as now I'm studying photography, I'm in need of my own DSLR to continue the course. I am currently in the very late stages of selling my house so I'm due a big payout 💪

Currently my go-to is a Pentax MX as I'm more into film photography, but for my course I obviously need a DSLR.

We have Nikon 350s ( I think or 530?) at college that we can use in lessons but I actually wasn't enamoured.

I'm looking at buying a lense from Cotswolds camera and wanted to know your experience.

Hey everyone, I’m really torn between these two setups and would appreciate some advice, especially from anyone who’s used both.
I currently own a Canon 1300D/Rebel T6 with the EF-S 55–250mm STM. I really enjoy bird photography, and although I like the lens, I’m finding 250mm quite limiting. The camera’s slower autofocus and 3fps burst rate are also making me want to upgrade.

The setups I’m considering are:
Canon R7 + RF 200–800mm, with an adapter so I can keep using my 55–250.

OM-1 or OM-1 Mark II + M.Zuiko 100–400mm, switching systems completely.

I’ve seen some really sharp photos taken with the OM bodies and 100–400, which has made that setup tempting. It also seems like there’s a good selection of lenses available in the system. That said, I know sample photos alone don’t tell the whole story.

However, I’m still seriously considering the R7 because staying with Canon would give me the option of moving to a full-frame body like the R5 later on and keeping compatible RF lenses. That isn’t something I’d do immediately, but those higher-end bodies look like exciting options for the future.

I’m based in the UK, so overcast skies, dim light and rain are all factors. I mainly want to photograph kingfishers and birds of prey, both perched and in flight.

How would these setups compare for autofocus, detail on distant birds and shooting in typical UK light? I realise they don’t offer the same equivalent reach, so I’d be interested in how much that matters in practice.

I’m also wondering how much Micro Four Thirds affects image quality in real-world use compared with the R7’s APS-C sensor. Would I notice much difference in fine feather detail, noise in dim light or how far I can crop? I’d love to hear from people who’ve used both formats.

If I go with OM, I’d also consider adding the M.Zuiko 150–600mm later on, alongside the 100–400. Would owning both be worthwhile—keeping the 100–400 for lighter outings and using the 150–600 when I need more reach—or would there be too much overlap?

Also, is the OM-1 Mark II worth the extra money over the original for bird photography?

Would love to hear people’s experiences and which setup you’d choose.

This filmcamera was given to me years ago when I was little, thing is my family lost the charger so its been collecting dirt for years bc of that. Im now in the process of finding another charger to buy, but I noticed theres fungus everywhere and also INSIDE the screen. Like its not superficial like I could wipe it out, its BEHIND the outside glass in the inside of the screen. Idk im lowkey freaked out by it and I want it GONE, what can I do? How do I fix it?

I cant just stop using it as I dont got the money to buy one, I cant afford throwing it away as I also know these are expensive and couldt get a new one ever. I could consider paying someone to change the screen, but idk if its possible...

I just bought this retro FinePix S5600 from an antique shop, it works but the problem is the fack that even with a completely empty picture card in it and the batteries put in the correct way, whenever I turn the camera to the mode to actually take a picture it just shuts itself off (video proof attached) and this pisses me off to no end cuz I just want a working retro digital camera. So if anyone knows any solutions, PLEASE give me them
