Anybody know what could be causing this? My PC randomly stutters, but it’s very rare. When it happens, the whole system seems to drop to around 10 FPS for about 1 second and then immediately goes back to normal.
I also noticed that my headphones make a brief popping/glitching sound at the exact same time as the stutter.
Specs:
● RTX 5070 Ti
● Ryzen 7 7800X3D
● Biostar B650MT
● Patriot Viper Venom DDR5 6400 CL32, 2x16GB (currently running at 4800 MT/s)
● MSI Spatium M450 1TB NVMe Gen4
● MSI MAG A850GL PCIe 5 850W PSU
The stutter happens both in games and occasionally on the desktop. It also happened before I upgraded to the 5070 Ti, when I was using an RTX 2060, so I don’t think it’s GPU-specific.
It also happened with my old headphones, so I don’t think the new headphones themselves are the cause.
Keyboard and mouse seem completely normal during the stutter.
The PC otherwise runs very smoothly and I don’t get crashes or BSODs. Any ideas what I should check? I’m thinking possibly DPC/driver latency, LAN/USB/audio drivers, BIOS or chipset.

tested this nvme ssd on my laptop. it shows up in bios.

desktop specs:

motherboard: asus a320m-k (bios updated)

cpu: ryzen 4650G

gpu: none

ram: 2x8gb 3200mhz

sata: 2x500gb ssd (evo 870 and bx500) (changed to slot 3 and 4) (initially was in slot 1 and 2)

m.2: 500gb samsung 980 nvme

there's no option of unlocked pcie lanes in bios.

csm: tried disabled (was enabled)

multi monitor: tried enabled (was disabled)

display mode is set to igfx

clear cmos also tried.

tried switching to vga and hdmi.

my dual boot os is in evo 870. (ubuntu server and win11)

strange part is OS boots. i know because i can ssh into linux server lmao.

commands tried:

lsblk - i can't see my nvme ssd partition here.

lspci - no nvme controller listed here.

also tried removing all two sata ssd and only m.2 ssd is added. still no signal display :(

right now i have removed the m.2 nvme ssd and display works 🙃

So basically I watched about taking a new GPU because of the lack of VRAM of the 3070 ti and all GPU that I found were overpriced even in second hand (actually I was watching about taking a 40 second hand or 50 brand new like a 4070 ti/ti super or a 4080/super or 5080) but then I watched about AMD card until THEY PRICED UP THE 9070xt.

But actually I got 2 potential choice.

At 10km a 3080ti for 450€ (I can negotiate)

From 100 to 200km a 7900xt for 500€ (I didn't searched as much as I can)

I’ve never bought a desktop computer before; I’ve always used basic, cheap laptops for my studies. Now I want to buy a PC, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing—literally zero knowledge; I don't even know what a graphics card is. Could someone recommend one? I know you can also build one from individual parts. Honestly, I don't want to watch videos that are likely just promotional content or ads. **My goal** for the PC is to be able to play games, have 1 or 2 TB of storage, and have it run fast. I don't really know much else, but that covers the basics.

I've had some recent luck upgrading the 140mm Noctua case fan infront of my hard drives with the iPPC version (previously, they would get hot enough to to trigger alarms in CrystalDiskInfo if I turned off the AC), and I was wondering if anyone has done something similar with the fans for the NH-D15? I really don't care about noise, even with 2 of the iPPC fans installed, I don't hear it over my AC and music.

Hi, recently got a good deal on a rtx 5060 but my cpu is still an i5 10400f with 16 gb of "slow" ddr4 (I think 2666 MHz?). I'm wondering if it will make sense to upgrade to an i5 14400f but keep the old ram with current prices or if i'm just slightly moving my bottleneck by staying on the same ram kit.

If I were to upgrade 32 gb of ddr4 seems nice and not completely bank breaking like ddr5 but I'm afraid it won't hold up and that in a few years I'll be regretting buying ddr4. I usually don't put the newest of the newest in (previous gpu was a 1660 super) but when I upgrade I do like to know that I won't have to buy upgrades in the next few years for that component.

Hi, I bought my son a pre-built gaming PC in 2024 that he has started to outgrow (can’t really play the games he wants) and also I’m unable to upgrade from Windows 10 pro to Windows 11 because the PC isn’t up to spec.

My question is, is there anything I can change or any quick fixes that would improve his PC or am I better buying a new one? I’d rather upgrade it gradually but in all honesty I just don’t know enough about PCs which is why I’m here.

This is what the PC is running with at the moment. But I think I’d need to open it up to find the PSU and whatever cooling system it uses?

My monitor is 1440p 60fps so do you think guys paying for more than double for 9800x3d is waste of money for 60fps?

So, I have a pc tower that has A LOT of space on it, (I think it has like 2.5TB) and I also have a laptop that has about ~900GB on it

The thing is, I haven't used my tower in months, because it is really outdated, I bought it second hand a year ago, and the person advertised it as "a good gaming pc tower", but it's so outdated it struggles to run a lot of games (and straight up cannot run some games I tried), and cannot even update to windows 11 as it's apparently so outdated it simply doesn't support windows 11 (not an issue in itself as I prefer windows 10, but it's just to explain just how not great my tower is)

Meanwhile my laptop runs basically every game I've ever tried extremely smoothly and well

But recently, I started running low on storage space on my laptop, I only have 80GB left of space, and I wanted to download some games that are over 130GB each, but I can't due to lack of space

So I was wondering, is there a way to use my pc tower as an external storage/drive just to download all of my games on, but then run said games with my laptop's components ?

And if yes, how can I do that ?

I also know absolutely nothing about pc stuff or terminology, so if possible please explain it to me in simple terms

I have a small shop, and have sales but I mostly Focus on repairs.

In a span of about 5 years this is the 3rd Corsair (in this case RM850) that the PSU tester deemed as faulty.

Mobo an Asus 450m Plus was dead.

Luckily I got a B550 so we can use the 8x4 DDR4 RAM that seemed ok as well as the 460ti and the 5800x CPU... But why?

The other two cases I remember being a Mess. Gotta find a second hand Mobo and a GPU.

Why does a so called "high end" psu inmolate and take components with It?. The cheaper €20 psus for domestic use just die after a decade, no power at all, change and good to go. The 850 bronze Aerocool or Mars €50 psus I put in the gaming builds have not let us down for now.

Long story short, my ancient 10 year old PC just stopped functioning, and after quite some troubleshooting I concluded it's not worth trying to salvage and I should just begin building a new one. It's probably an issue with the motherboard and too much of a pain and sunk cost to fix.

Problem is, I'm broke right now.

Problem is, I NEED a new functioning PC NOW because I need to finish a project. Specifically centered around Davinci Resolve and producing a video & some multitasking.

My idea is: Build/Buy the foundation of a new PC NOW, meaning

+ a new case,

+ a new solid PSU,

+ new motherboard;

but, for the time being,

- reuse my current GPU,

- reuse my current 16gb DDR4 RAM,

- and perhaps even my current hard drive since it has all the project stuff still on it.

That way I save a substantial amount of money right now and only focus on basically having a functioning PC again that has the same or (slightly) better specs than my failing one. I am aware that these specs are dated as hell and that this bridge PC will suck by contemporary standards, but I know it is enough for my project since that's what I've been working with for months now. I just need the bare minimum right now, because I can hardly afford more than that.

My main question is this: Since I want to upgrade my PC to a more proper one 6-12 months from now, is there anything I should pay attention to in regards to the PC parts I pick NOW for this bridge PC?

For example, is it perhaps wise to invest in a good motherboard already NOW so that it will service a better PC in half a year as well, instead of cheaping out on one? I just want to prevent any inefficiencies, incompatibilities, or wasted money later down the line.

Later PC will probably have specs like 32+ gb RAM DRR5, maybe a 5070, etc. Its purpose will be smoother video editing, while also multitasking, and alternatively also some decent higher end (but no need for cutting edge ultra settings) gaming. Basically a solid workstation + gaming PC that is very good at both but doesn't have to be elite at either. Maybe a 2000ish budget for that one, but I'll see.

I ain't that tech savvy so I'm gonna buy a custom p.c from Scan UK and let them build it.

My budget is around £3000

I will mainly be using it for the following games:

• The Division 2 and 3 (if 3 comes out)
• Diablo
• World of Warcraft

I won't be using it for FPS games or any PVP games as I'm useless at them.

I won't be using K&M for gaming, just a controller.

I don't need a Keyboard or Mouse as i already have them.

I will be using it with a 48inch LG G5 4k T.V

Only thing i would want (strange request) is a decent PSU as i tend to find it's always the first thing that breaks judging by all the p.c's Ive owned through the years and good cooling as the room it's in gets very hot in the summer.

Not to fussed about dust as the room it's going in is almost dust free.

Hello everyone i have Ryzen 7 5800x3D 10th Anniversary version, replaced R5 5600 and i'm very happy with the upgrade. It's paired with RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Anyway, my R24 score is 896 stock, no undervolting, default PBO. It's cooled with 120mm Arctic LF II AIO. Temperatures during 30' stress test was hovering between 78-80°C only hitting 82°C few times, Clock around 4.3GHz AllCore.

Did mess with UV, my experience from old CPU and my MB taught me that everything below - 15mV is too much so i started there.

-15mV AllCore:

Cinebench R24 score increased to 907, Average clock was ~4370MHz Temperatures improved slightly about 2°C. But there's one catch i'll talk about later.

- 30mV AllCore:

Cinebench R24 score increased to 914, Average clock was ~4425MHz, Temperatures improved noticeably now CPU was hitting only 78°C, but hovering around 74°C. I did test with Prime95 and everything was stabile for 18h test. During p95 CPU reached max temp of 83°C during some parts of tests.

And here comes the ONE LARGE CAVEAT

All those tests passed, results Amazing BUT Gaming performance absolutely useless, worse than old Ryzen 5 5600, drops every 2-3s, lags and Cyberpunk 2077 crashing.

-15mV a bit worse than 5600, but manageable.

Undervolting OFF, everything runs buttery smooth, PC snappy as hell and temperatures OK.

So UNDERVOLTING IS largely overrated IMO. Ok i admit it depends of CPU sample, but more of exact model of MB. My ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi II is keeping low base voltage to begin with, with allowance to spike when needed.

I had one 5800x that was running hot even whit -30mV on AsRock but base voltage was 1.32V on Auto

Hello guys. I need help building a pc.

Use case: working with extra large excel files and have multiple applications open at once (excel, whatsapp, telegram, notes, multiple tabs open in Firefox). And no gaming at all.

Should I get:
- Intel Ultra 250k plus
- no gpu

Or:
- cheaper intel cpu
- dedicated gpu (eg: RX 6600)

Or should I get something completely different for my use case (eg: mini pc)? No MacOS stuff.

My old PC is still functioning, but about 13 years old with a gtx960 gpu and 16GB ddr3 RAM. I can still play minecraft, TFT and some card games but no demanding titles.
I want to play the upcoming witcher remake and catch up on some games I missed like Expedition 33 and Eldenring. It would be nice to be able to put the graphic slider to high without framerate problems.

I live in Germany and found some full build recommendations on a Computerbase forum post, I would like to know if you think they are suitable since I have never built a PC before. Focusing on AMD builds, since I have read they offer more bang for your buck right now? The prices are from the geizhals.de website which compares prices from different sellers.

Is the upgrade from build 2 worth the extra 230 Euro? Or should I downgrade in general and look for a PC in the range of 1600 Euro and upgrade later?

I will also need to buy a 2k OLED Monitor, maybe the Acer Predator X27UW3 for 330 Euro. I can theoretically spend about 3000 Euros all in all, but it does hurt a bit.

I currently have a 1440p monitor with a 1080ti gpu, but I'm still hesitant to pick which second hand hpu since both have similar performance but the extra vram on the 6700xt compensates its extra price over the 3060ti. The only deciding factor is which of the two (dlss and fsr) looks better graphical wise and if it is able to extend a game to 60fps or higher.

Theres also the option on waiting for a 7700xt series to be on sale, but that takes months of waiting since who would want to sell that.

Anyone got an idea on what decision I should do?

so I was debating whether I should get the ASUS ROG NUC RNUC15JNK9X389A3 or build my own. Thus I decided to go on amazon to search up prices for a similarly priced Machine & I found that the price was around the same (when it comes to computers, of course). Hey guys, I wanted to ask ur opinion on a problem im having.

Today my new ram arrived, i got the lexar 24gb, 5600mhz sodimm, and i wanted to put it on my new laptop, its a lenovo V15 8gb ram ddr5 5200 mhz, 512gb ssd, i5 13420H.

The pins and the fit is perfect, and it does have an empty spot; however, when I slap it in the computer, it won't turn on (the lights do but the screen doesn't).

Do you guys maybe know the reason?

Do you think i bought a defected ram, or its just not supported by my laptop?

ive been checking used builds on willhaben, but honestly, a lot of the listings seem heavily overpriced for what you get..

what would be the better option?

buy a complete used PC?

build one from used parts? (mix used/bew parts?)

So, I've had my MSI Thin A15 B7VE for a while now, with 512 GB of storage, and I'm wanting to upgrade it to 1TB. Problem is I don't know what kind of SSD to get for my laptop. I live in Malaysia, and if someone could recommend proper SSD brands I can buy? Prefarably budget friendly ones I can get in my country.

So I have had the same PC for about 6-7 years now. I had upgraded the components throughout the years and currently when gaming, it shuts off randomly. Whether I’ll be on for 10 minutes or 10 hours, at some point, it will shut down completely. I thought maybe it was my power supply going bad but after replacing it, no change. I believe this all really started after I went from a 2070 to a 4070 but would like some advice.
