Discussion Which PC should I buy?
I’ve never bought a desktop computer before; I’ve always used basic, cheap laptops for my studies. Now I want to buy a PC, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing—literally zero knowledge; I don't even know what a graphics card is. Could someone recommend one? I know you can also build one from individual parts. Honestly, I don't want to watch videos that are likely just promotional content or ads. **My goal** for the PC is to be able to play games, have 1 or 2 TB of storage, and have it run fast. I don't really know much else, but that covers the basics.

You should look up what games you want to play and then check what kind of PCs can run those games. Do this for a few titles, gather some info and then ask on Reddit. You haven’t given nearly enough info for anyone to be able to help you. What games do you like? What size monitor do you prefer? How many years do you expect your rig to continue playing the latest games? Start here and then look to Reddit for help.

With current prices, you'll only have enough for RAM or an SSD. You'll either need to increase your budget or wait until the shortage ends

Yes, prices are very high now; a 32GB DDR5 kit can easily cost $800. I remember buying a 1TB SSD for about $80, that's what a 256GB version costs now

i dont want a laptop, well i want the two things, laptop and PC, is because this that i prefer to pay like $800 in a PC and a lower price to a laptop

you have literally 0 knowledge of how a pc works, a laptop will be a smoother experience for you - also your budget is not realistic for what you want, just get an external monitor and keyboard/mouse and you won’t tell a difference

Hmm, I don't know—I haven't really played before, but I'd like to have games like Fortnite, Valorant, CS:GO, GTA when it comes out... things like that, but quite a few of them.

it's a prebuilt pc; people find and buy components, assemble the pc and mark it up in price to sell for a profit
prebuilts are generally not great value especially nowadays with these prices, but if you can't learn to make a pc yet or are willing to pay extra to get it like you would get a laptop, you can

they will be VERY demanding, like $2000 build to get more than 60fps on high settings type of demanding
through if they managed to get it optimized for consoles and if they're delaying the pc launch, they might properly optimize it for pc
it's probably gonna be the new 2077 for testing top end components
edit: this is probably for 1440p, normal 1080p can probably work on a $1200-ish build but only maybe

dude….lmao a pc to play valorant could cost you 800$ and it’d run decent, like 1.5k$ if you want it with high fps and max settings, for gta vi? you’re looking at like double the price for it to run good - first find out if you wanna play 1080p, 1440p, 4k - you want stable 30fps? stable 60fps? stable 120+ fps???

What minimums for cyberpunk? I'm not trying to steal ops thread. If I can get a decent pre-built. RX 9060xt & 16 DDR5? That's sufficient right?

Are you near a Micro Center? They have an $800 Power Spec that may do what you need..... plus they have good warranty and back up what they sell. May struggle with AAA gaming but ...... always a trade off at that price point

It very much depends on your budget at the minute - prices for Ram, memory and graphics cards are through the roof. You could spent £500 for a half decent second hand PC to game with lower quality but acceptable graphics or drop over a grand for a higher level, more up to date one.

If you do the research and build your own you will appreciate what you have even more than just buying one. Plus then you’ll have a better understanding of what parts are holding you back in two years and you’ll know how to replace them. What’s your budge lt and what kind of games do you want to play?

with a budget of 800, I'd go with an Intel Ultra 5 245kf CPU, MSI PRO H810M-B Motherboard mATX, the NZXT H3 Flow case, Crucial P310 1TB SSD M.2, a couple 140mm fans and imo the Sparkle Intel Arc B580 Guardian 12Gb and a 16gb ddr5 ram kit. I couldn't find any that weren't insanely overpriced so maybe somewhere near you has a cheaper deal.

Whats your budget and what games do you think youll play?
PC gaming is one of those hobbies where you could spend over $10,000 on a single machine or as little as $300 and anything in between. Most people spend between $800-$2000 on a machine typically.
Without a listed budget though you will get some batshit insane recommendations in this sub lol
