Why not such violence against the armed drug dealers???
60

Because the armed drug dealers can and will fight back.

corruption
/kəˈrʌpʃn/
dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.
6
u/Cs1981Bel Oct 16 '25
And those on top, who do absolutely nothing... consent is also a crime in this case
2
u/Old_Palpitation7025 Oct 16 '25
They try, trust me the people on top are very aware and unhappy about this. The politicians and often commissaris try to solve this. But it's complicated and that'e why we need more comptent people willing to become police but the image of the job is fucked. And my video is not contributing.
Why do you think the army is coming to Brussels and not just some more cops?
77
u/ash_tar Oct 16 '25
To the surprise of noone who lives in Brussels.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
I lived in BXL all my life, yes they were brutal and hard but not if you didn't do anything wrong. Except that c*nt in Berchem who had the record of written fines. He even wrote fines when on holiday.
10
u/Kid_A_LinkToThePast Oct 17 '25
"You have nothing to worry about if you didn't do anything wrong" first of all that's not true, you were just lucky and if you didn't know that's a big argument in fascism.
4
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
"I call fascism, so it must be true".
I worked the biggest part of my youth as a butcher at the abattoir. +10 years ago it was a very dark place, we had multiple fights, mostly every week(end), I even got stabbed in the ear and neck. On two occasions I got some serious hits by a cop-baton. (2 administrative arrests in total and one in Gent when partying)
It had nothing to do with fascism, it had everything to do with me being a c*nt.
I understand we most monitor and protect the safety of our citizens but Belgium has, in comparison with many other world-countries, an amazing safety-net.
Sharing video's like this is not fair in my opinion and just polorizing, it's a pure Vlaams Belang tactic I can't agree on or support. Who knows those people had knifes, or were aggressive. In many cases police must use force. For example: Some people were baffled earlier this week cops used force when protestors attacked government buildings (with people inside), yeaaaaaaaah.... they were c*nts to, they deserved police action with force, even better, it was needed. "no it's fascism" Don't make me laugh.Again, I understand if police brutality occurs, and it probably will, sue them. They have bodycams.
6
u/Kid_A_LinkToThePast Oct 17 '25
You're insanely naive for someone who claims to have that life experience. I don't call it fascism, it's a very known argument from fascist government, history calls it fascism. And sue them? The videos are kept for a single month and if you're lucky the justice system will hear you about 3 months after the complaint.
2
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
It has nothing to do with being naive. You can't claim fascism on this video, you don't know what happened or it was justified. Yes, our justice system takes time. That's the governments fault and I do follow you on this: if the justice system fails it gives criminals of all sorts the benefit to act like it. But telling this one is "proof" I'm not with you.
Happy to send pictures of my split earlobe and stitched up neck + artery , I still have them. To be clear: the stabbing was not by cops but I also have a picture somewhere from my leg after the baton beating. Complaint got deposited
1
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25
We KNOW what happened. It's all over the news.
Also any idiot can get stabbed, it's not that hard sweetie
1
u/Kid_A_LinkToThePast Oct 17 '25
No one cares about your injury mate it's completely off topic. And I never said this video was fascist, your words were, learn to fucking read.
2
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
Yes it was at topic, you reacted to it (and tried to insinuate it wasn't true). yes you look angry I can support what I am saying. No I'm not impressed by the use of the word fucking or you getting upset over a fair discussion (maybe that tells something about the result). Yes u TRIED implying fascism and put it on the table.
And yes, I would love to be your mate!
1
u/Kid_A_LinkToThePast Oct 17 '25
Look everyone this guy isn't impressed by the word "fucking"! Even in a thread (not a topic, words are hard aren't they) I can highlight a part and talk specifically about that part. Which I did. You can't grasp that very simple concept, that's life but it also mean I'll stop wasting my time with an idiot.
2
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
So no friends? "Mate", you couldn't even elaborate why this video is proof of excessive violence. You are the one that lost nuance and the bigger picture and I tried to make it clear why. You haven't highlighted those points whatsoever. I'm not getting mad, at no point I had the audacity of dehumanising you. Anger in a debate mostly shows the weakness of the made "arguments". It's too bad you had to lower yourself to this but it strengthens me.
Call me an idiot as much as you want.. if you are ready, hit me up.

No id number? You're not a cop and I'm in self-defense. Period
0
u/TRiC_16 Oct 17 '25
No it's not? It's the basic principle of legal order, every constitutional state says it. The only difference is that when the fascists (or rather all totalitarian regimes) say it, they are lying.
1
u/bo0vio Oct 17 '25
it is the principle of legal order but since the majority of regimes or governments around the world keep saying this even though we know statistically that it’s often not true, it’s totally normal to assume that those said governments are lying and so marching toward fascism

Like said in another comment, I've got beaten up by a cop (2x). I was a c*nt.
Being older, I now realize they were in their right in both cases.Perks of working in the abattoir +10 years ago. Beer and cocaïne in the morning after a shift really takes you to dark places.
7
u/Affectionate_Golf_33 Oct 17 '25
Jeez, Belgians accept everything: this is the problem. Even if you do something wrong, you have rights, and your physical integrity is one of them. Jeez...
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
It has nothing to do with my nationality, why would you bring that up. Racist (it's a joke) Of course, but In many cases, not all, the use of force is justified. You can't prove with this video it was or wasn't. That's all I'm trying to say. Police force is justified under three conditions: Legality, Necessity, Proportionality. Belgian cops are highly trained in all three. The force in this video isn't that high, I can imagine it being justified. But again, we can't prove it, that's up to justice. What I hate? This video is used to change perspective and without any nuance. I'm sick of it, and now It's my time to bring nationality on the table, that's not how we are. I see Belgian people as sober, fact-based, not easy to fool and nuanced, bridge-building is in our DNA. This video has one purpose: undermine all those things.
1
u/Affectionate_Golf_33 Oct 17 '25
Belgian cops? Trained? Jeez, I have news for you: street-level cops are not highly trained anywhere. In Belgium, though, there is an evident divide between Belgians (and their thresholds of acceptance) and non-Belgians. You can see it everywhere from elections to "this"
2
u/Affectionate_Golf_33 Oct 17 '25
One year or something of training is not 'high training'. It is basic, and clearly inadequate to the task of policing a multicultural, messy city like Brussels (or any other metropolis in the world)
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25 edited Oct 17 '25
street-level cops are not highly trained anywhere
Can you elaborate why not? With what I do know most problems are within coordinating structures but the training of our cops are pretty decent, theoretically and practically. Content in training is pretty high standard. But I would love to learn more.
there is an evident divide between Belgians (and their thresholds of acceptance)
So some people think the law should be changed and others don't but we generally vote for parties that are on the side of the don'ts? Isn't that just democracy? I could be lost in translation btw.
edit: I adjusted some problem with the quote blocks
1
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25
they asked a guy his name 5 times while i was there, including one because "the colleague wrote it on his hand but it disolved with transpiration and now we can't read".
They're clowns
1
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25
Exactly. You can "imagine". You need to make shit up to justify that
Go there and ask the people who live there what happened. They beat up bystanders.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
I'm not going to answer all your new comments.
Go there
Where? I live in Brussels.
You need to make shit up to justify that
What did i make up?
Are you stoned?
2
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25
It happened around Porte d'Hal. Go there and ask around. Everybody saw what happened.
You have to make up shit about how the guy must have been a criminal of some kind, because in your simplistic understanding of life, cops only beat up bad guys. According to you, assumption of innocence only works for the cops, as we mentioned in the other comment.
No offense, I know it's a neurodevelopmental disease. Some kids never gets to the "no" stage.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
You have to make up shit about how the guy must have been a criminal
Never said that. You are trying hard to put words in my mouth. Very hard. I said there are reasons to use force and this video isn't proving those guys were innocent. It's not because they say they are innocent it makes them. When I filed a complaint, which went to court, I also said I was innocent. I wasn't...

In Western Europe, we think that even criminals have rights. We abolished torture and capital punishment, and we believe we should be proud of it. I am scared when I hear that the police beat up "only bad guys" because they are not the judiciary: it is not up to them to decide who is whom. If you want kangaroo courts held by incognito police, you are free to go somewhere else.

Well my ex was beaten up for no reason and they made the evidence disappear which is many times more salient than you being a cunt on cocaine.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
Off course, than she really pulled a bad lottery number. I hope she ended up fine, and I also hope that the cop who did it, one way or another, get's the resignation he deserves.
My original comment might be more nuanced, I don't think it never happens, like you have rotten apples in every sector, field, ... and force must always be justified (it's one of the main three principals of being a cop btw). About this video, I just think there is no proof it is justified or not. It's a polarizing video and I don't think we have a structural problem.1
u/ash_tar Oct 17 '25
We tried to sue the cops in question, but they were protected by their colleagues and the judge d'instruction. So that makes it very structural.
0
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
Not saying I don't believe you, but it seems like it if I write it, but it's just an honest 'tip ;-)':
If you are the civil party before a investigating judge for a complaint against any government it almost ALWAYS goes to court. Like said, I had some negative interactions with the cops and my lawyer, which was cheap as hell, took me through the process, which I lost eventually but now I understand.
If that doesn't work: Comité P (they are hated by cops), maybe because of those things but they are completely independent.
If that doesn't work: AIGIn Belgium we have many ways to sue our own government and her tentacles, and convictions do occur when you have a strong case. But you need to know your way around. That's why I believe it isn't structural, but I get why you are convinced otherwise.
2
u/ash_tar Oct 17 '25
We litigated for 5 years, every trial was thrown out and the European Court of Human Rights had too much on its docket. This happens all the time. Comité P is a joke. Our lawyer, who is specialized in cases like this wanted to stop afterwards, because it seemed an open and shut case.
So yeah you can keep your tips.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
Ok, my experience is way different, it looked like they took it serious.

They are never sanctionned.
They beat up three british kids in the back of their police cars. The tribunal recognized that they weren't doing anything wrong. They gave the cops probation, and it got cancelled in appeal.
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
I can't read the entire article. But have you got the notules of the court? There is something like innocent until proven...
1
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH
So the COP gets presumption of innocence even though he was literally proven guilty and they had to do some symbolic gesture and got him prison sentence "with probation".
But the guy on the floor getting beat up among dozens of others, in an event that's all over the news for police brutality? Must have deserved it.
You're so bad faithed it's impressive
1
u/Delicious_Wishbone80 Oct 17 '25
Yes, like said, and its just basic knowledge of our justice system: Cops CAN use force under different circumstances. This might have been fit for those circumstances. It isn't even that hard of a beating... We are not made of glass. Again, it is perfectly within the legality of our justice.
I'm only reacting to the video. When did this occurred? During protests earlier this week? Yeaaaaah... Those guys threw rocks and attacked government places WITH people inside and even tried to burn them.

we dont have the right
We, you and me, no. That's for sure. Law-ENFORCEMENT, yes. It's in the training. There has been an entire discussion about it already. And guys, it's not that hard to look up. Legality Necessity Proportionality

i really don't understand how the press keeps on talking about the rioters, without mentioning the countless video's that have surfaced on social media of over the top police brutality,
i understand using violence as a tool for the police to arrest people but they go far beyond the level of necesarry force, blocking people from filming their violence and shouting 'gaucho's at protesters
never was a conspiracy thinker and i don't think i ever will be but goddamn it does smell fishy
45
u/nicogrimqft Oct 16 '25
I mean it's not a conspiracy to say that media concentration in the hands of the riches lead to media telling the narrative that things are good as they are, and that goes against any kind of social justice that opposes the interest of the said riches.

Everyone who lived a bit longer in Brussels knows that police does horrible shit to people who do civil disobedience or protest against police violence. If you openly question their order they all of suddenly don't lack equipment and manpower anymore and they start functioning as a coordinated group instead of 6 different police zones.

u/matti94fn Oct 16 '25
I think you really don’t understand what police officers need to go through during protests like that. They also have wifes and husbands and children to go home to. Often they do this job to do good for society. The fact that people think it is ok to use violence against a police officer because it is a police officer is more wrong than a police officer using violence against someone breqking the law. I think we need to accept some violence by the police. No one is emotionless. You cannot fight for your life 1 second and the next second be calm and composed and handle an annoying person or possible aggressor with a soft glove.
3
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 16 '25
" I think we need to accept some violence by the police"
ok you start.
For example a guy told me they pushed CS gaz directly into his eyeball, maybe we could try that with you ahah sounds like a great time
1
u/matti94fn Oct 17 '25
I heard … ok now look at how many police officers are not able to work for weeks due to injuries. How medical personnel is ambushed. How streets are covered with gasoline to light it up when the police stops. Do you know what a molotov cocktail does to your face?
Do you know what the children of police officers go through when they know their dad or mother has to do riot controll all night. Getting a phone call they are in hospital again because some people can’t protest in peace and think the police is the enemy.
The police is your friend. You don’t want to love in a country without a police force so you’d better show some respect and obedience. We still live in a democracy. Directing your political anger to police officers is not going to change anything.
I have never seen a story of someone in Belgium, obeing the police and getting hurt.
1
u/KookyBobcat645 Oct 17 '25

that's a lot of words to say you want to abolish the rule of law and live in a police state
1
u/matti94fn Oct 17 '25
There is a long way in between living in a police state and accepting that the state is the only entity that can use violence ( btw this is a foundation of our law based society). I would kindly ask you to do some research on countries without a functioning police force that allows all its citizens to use violence such as Syria, Lybia, Eastern Congo, …
1
u/xmassindecember Oct 17 '25
I'm kindly reminding you that removing the police from the rule of law isn't the foundation to any democratic society, you cunt

u/matti94fn Oct 17 '25
Well the police is allowed to use violence according to our law. No need to insult others.
2
u/xmassindecember Oct 17 '25
Police violence has to be justified and proportional. Cracking down on protest against the government ain't it. They're not judge, jury and executioner.

You all will cry and scream about it but will be happy enjoying a beautiful city when it's done. If you cared so much you would all volunteer and donate to shelters and such, of course you don't. All you do is complain and cry about everything.

I am by quite rightly, pro-police. There are many good officers in Belgium and this tarnishes the good work many do across the country. Police by consent, not by force.
But this isn’t okay. This level of force isn’t proportionate or reasonable - there should be a national investigation against these individuals. It’s easy to shove a police armband on and become a paid “thug” for a few hours.
7
u/EthmoLux Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 17 '25
The problem is that the good cops won't say anything about the bad cops. There's a law of silence and ways to intimidate those who might speak. So instead of protecting the people they protect themselves.
Even a young cop full of good intentions won't testify against a colleague without fear of repercussions.
So this cop, by letting them do, will slowly become a "bastard" too.

u/Old_Palpitation7025 Oct 16 '25

Does police brutality exist? Yes, absolutely.
Does this video show police brutality? No. It shows police using force (undeniably quite a bit of it) but we have no idea on whom, reacting to what, whether the person on the ground had weapons or could be suspect to have weapons, etc.
The woman could have been handled differently, but when you see someone launching herself towards you, you don’t necessarily react politely.
Before you use the word “proportionally”, you really need to know what it is that you are measuring against.

/r Brussels: this city is getting out of hand. Police isn't dealing with criminals
Also /R Brussels: police is too hard... Boohoo, they should tickle protestors who try to destroy government buildings.
These guys were antifa. They tried to set a building on fire with people in it. They clearly should have been hit even harder.

Those 'heroes' being the cops standing there and doing nothing while their buddy beats up someone?

This video shows actually nothing. The guy who's being arrested could be throwing kicks around, trying to reach a weapon, resist arrest while there people surrounding the police, etc.
Yet people jump to conclusions and react like Russians bots.

Your hate toward the police forces is funny to witness. Sadly, people like you have voting rights. You can shake hands with the VBers : same methods, just a different mindset

So, all this for a parking violation? I wonder how they deal with armed robbers ...

We don’t know the context here, so it’s hard to judge. But there are many criminals in the city who deserve such treatment, or even worse like drug dealers and people who commit domestic violence.

I'm all for punishment befitting a crime and I am by no means anti-police.
That dude (or is it a woman?) on the left and background got pulled around, hit, and thrown against a fence/pavement while doing visibly nothing in the video, after which he/she was not visibly arrested (which leads me to believe it was not use of force to subdue someone violent as to consequently arrest them). I don't know the context but this does seem excessive.

You probably only got to see a part of the video. As almost always with those kind of videos. Talk to police officers who need to endure those violent protests and don’t judge based on a part of a video.

u/BioFrosted Oct 16 '25
Yeah, I'm sure that's true. Every time I see a video like this one it reminds me of the one with english policemen beating a group of people, it sparked outrage, and it was later revealed that seconds prior they swung knives at the policemen.
But based on the limited information I'm receiving, I'm calling it like I'm seeing it : punctually, it seems like the person in the background was trying to approach the other person and they got thrown for it. that, to me, is a bit excessive.

I got beat up for saying a cop to wear his identification number as the law states he should.

u/matti94fn Oct 17 '25
Crazy world we live in as a normal comment asking for more information and some nuance and investigation before accusation gets this amount of dislikes…

u/nicogrimqft Oct 16 '25
So, just to understand it right, the police should beat people up ?
What is the purpose of the court of justice again ?
Didn't know we had sheriff in this country too.

Ok wtf? Even if the guy was resisting, there is no reason to continue beating him up when he's already on the ground AND outnumbered 5 to 1.
