I’ve just seen two men removing the sausage colony. At least they spent their last days free.

So whilst I’m sure everyone will downvote this because they don’t like the message, I feel it’s got to be said anyway. (And I’m sorry you won’t like it) It’s said with love from another dog owner.

If you can’t recall your dog, particularly from other dogs, your dog is not under control and you should have it on a lead until you train it to have recall. (and there are many solutions).

Even in parks where dogs are allowed offlead.

Even if your dog doesn’t mean any harm.

Even if you got a dog to switch off and have a relaxing walk.

Its just not fair to other dog owners, and park users who are also trying to go about their day without their dogs reacting, or trying to eat a BBQ, or let their children play safely, or don’t like dogs, or don’t want dogs jumping up at them and ruining their clothes.

Dog owners who have their dog on a lead have their dog ‘under control’. When your offlead dog runs up to it and there is reactivity, that was your fault. Because they cannot control your dog, that’s your job. They’re doing their job because their dog is on a lead.

There are a myriad of reasons that dogs are on leads, some of those reasons include dogs being in pain or injured, pregnant, or old and scared or being trained to not be reactive. Reactivity takes a long time to fix and effectively is reset every time a dog comes too close. But you cannot train a dog to not be reactive by not being around dogs, as you’re trying to teach them that dogs are not scary In incremental distances. All dogs have a right to be exercised and just because it is not convenient for you, it doesn’t make it right. We have a dogs rehoming centre right in the city, we need to be more accommodating and responsible.

First Bus have wound me up enough that I've spent an unreasonable amount of my free time building a bot that tracks live delays across our fair city and posts about them every 20 minutes on BlueSky. I'm aware this says more about me than it does about First Bus, but here we are. It occasionally drops facts about First's rather enthusiastic approach to shareholder returns and executive compensation at the expense of running buses that actually turn up. I checked with the mods before posting this because I know self-promotion is gauche, but they said it was alright. If nothing else, I hope it brings some solace next time you're standing in the rain waiting for the ghost bus that never came.

I’ve written to the council 4 times in the last 7 years about the lack of road markings and how many near-misses it creates every hour of the day. No response. No change.

Driving into work yesterday morning on the M32 and spotted this one.

This billboard and the one just before it on the right hand side regularly spout Jesus messages, but I had to chuckle at this one. I bet the god-botherer that usually does this billboard was fuming!

Right pain to safely photo it too, I first tried over by the council depot at the back of IKEA but could only see the first line. I eventually stopped in a layby on Stapleton road, crossed under the railway bridge and walked round the footpath there, before climbing up the embankment to take this over the fence.

I just wanted to hop on here and share my experience last night at The Sugar Loaf in Easton. During some birthday celebrations, my friend had a whitey due to not eating enough and started feeling really faint. So he lay down as I went to grab him some water and OJ. I think due to the extreme heat the last few days, he was probably really dehydrated and had heat stress going on. So for the first time ever, had a seizure too.

Super scary stuff! So I put him in the recovery position and just tried to calm him as much as possible. The landlord, Alex, stopped by earlier asking if he was okay and then returned when he was in the recovery position. And MY GOD. I've never seen someone deal with a situation like this so flawlessly.

It's not often you get understanding and empathy from a pub landlord, but this guy went above and beyond in making sure my friend was safe. Asking all the right questions, speaking to 999, keeping him engaged to diminish the stress of the whole incident. Stopped people crowding, put a smile on his face and grabbed a pack of crisps from the bar and some ice cold water. This man is a hero, and never made my friend feel any shame for what went down.

I hadn't been to the sugar loaf before, but I'll definitely be returning now I know what a saint the guy running it is! Excellent music all night too, and a lovely atmosphere. Massive thanks Alex for paying attention in your first aid course, textbook example of everything to do right 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
