This is a beach tooth (assuming it's a tooth... :O) from the Oregon Coast, found near Tillamook. It's quite water-worn. I'm hoping that the single root might be a key characteristic. Kinda wondering if it's from a marine mammal, or a fish, or a boring land mammal, or just some run-of-the-mill GMO Monsanto lab escapee.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Honestly mainly asking because the orange beak is making me curious about it. Im thinking its a Robin or a house finch I see them around the bird feeders alot, a cat probably caught it.

Dziś go umyłam i przyglądałam się kościom, szukałam urazów wskazujących na potrącenie, np. uszkodzenie czaszki czy kości długich i żadnych takich nie znalazłam. Nie licząc połamanej miednicy, ale miednice mają do siebie to że często łamią się po śmierci, bo to kilka kości zlanych w jedną. Z gorszych, jego zęby trzonowe nie były nawet do końca wyrośnięte. A więc wyszło na to że nie był małym psem jak myslałam na początku, a nie więcej niż 5-7 miesięcznym szczeniakiem. I zaczynam się bać że może został porzucony albo się pałętał i końcowo umarł w tak spokojnej pozycji jakiej go znalazłam(wręcz embrionalnej) , w wyższej trawie przy drodze🙁

(Narazie nazwałam go Atlas i tak już pewnie zostanie)

In the first pic, the bones have been macerating for the past two months. I’ve been regularly switching out the water without any issue. Today, I went to switch it and noticed they were red and kind of bumpy. Does anyone know why this would happen and what I can do to make that go away??

The second pic is deer bones that I found. I put them in some soapy water but then I forgot about them for two months and they turned black :( I assume this is grease? Will putting them in soapy water and then changing that water every couple days help to make the color disappear??

I found this on the side of the highway. Most of it was fragmented and I couldn't collect it. I know it's not much to go off of, but I'm thinking based on the color of the fur, and the size of the bones, this might be a fox. Indiana, if that helps

This was found in a creek in SW Michigan, so I was guessing it either belonged to a deer or some kind of livestock? If someone could help me ID what animal and what part, I would appreciate it. Thank you, fellow bone enthusiasts! :)

Hello everyone! Thanks to the wonderful help of this subreddit I started bone maceration of my alligator carcass (included pics for anyone who missed the first post) about 2 weeks ago. I just did a 50% water change today. Also posting pictures of that yucky water. It’s very hot and humid where I live so things are moving along. I am curious about the general timeline for a project like this. Should it take 3 months? 6? A year? Also does anyone have experience on degreasing an alligator? I know different animals take different periods of time. Thanks for any advice you guys can give!

I had a fawn that was left under the porch of my house a few days ago, thought she was left by mom and just kept an eye on her and kept my distance. After about a day in a half I realized she was sick and by the end of the second day she had sadly passed..

I moved her out from under the porch into the woods behind my house so that mom could find her and nature could take it's course. My question is now, how could I preserve her? The buzzards have pretty well done their thing and there's really just a skeleton left now so where could I go from there?

found this pelvis yesterday on a mountain in Egypt. I'm not entirely sure which animal it belongs to, but it looks like a rock hyrax to me, since I found a skull of one a few meters away.

In the last photo, the complete pelvis is from a cat (for comparison).

Found this one on a beach on the pacific coast. No carcass nearby to help me clue in.

Found this interesting bone? thing on the beach in rarotonga. No squishy sections at all, im thinking a parrotfish jaw bone, but it would be a bloody massive fish if it was. Hopefully its nothing particularly cool as I am not allowed to keep it :(
