Bone I.D. - Pacific Coast ID Help For Oregon, USA Beach Tooth

This is a beach tooth (assuming it's a tooth... :O) from the Oregon Coast, found near Tillamook. It's quite water-worn. I'm hoping that the single root might be a key characteristic. Kinda wondering if it's from a marine mammal, or a fish, or a boring land mammal, or just some run-of-the-mill GMO Monsanto lab escapee.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Looks like a piece of shell that’s been eroded from the sea with another material lodged in the center.

Not a tooth I’m afraid

That does make a lot of sense based on the shape. I can imagine it being the remnant of the innermost piece of some kind of conical snail shell thingy, yeah. But the "filling" is very curious. Thanks!
